Chapter 882
Colton asked to meet Gabriel at a secluded restaurant.
It wasn't mealtime yet at the moment, so there were only a few waiters in the restaurant who were standing
upright and receiving patrons.
The two men came into a private room, where only a pot of tea was served on the dining table. After seating
himself, Colton poured himself a cup of tea and took sips from it.
Gabriel sat in front of Colton while looking up at the man before him. Seeing that the man had no intention to
speak, he thought for a moment before asking, "Colton, have you found out who drugged you back then?"
"Uh-huh," Colton mumbled indifferently before looking up at Gabriel. Then, he put down his teacup and continued
with a smirk, "Beryl has probably told you about this."
Gabriel nodded with a look of helplessness on his face. After pondering for a while, he replied, "Beryl said it was

"Do you believe it?" Colton asked.
Gabriel let out a soft sigh. He replied slowly, "It's useless even if I don't believe this. Beryl is an expert at this kind of
work, so he must have some concrete proof that led him to such a conclusion."
Seeing that he had understood it all, Colton didn't beat around the bush either. He tapped his slender, knuckled
fingers on the dining table, producing low tapping sounds. After a while, he finally said in a soft voice, "Evelyn is
your sister, so I can do you a favor by not doing anything to her. That being said, I won't let her get away with the
fact that she drugged me and threatened me with suicide to force me into marrying her."
Gabriel didn't plead with the man on Evelyn's behalf. He knew what kind of a person Colton was; once the latter had
made up his mind, it was difficult to make him change his decision. And besides, what happened this time was
Evelyn's fault in the first place. At the thought of this, he could hardly conceal the look of helplessness on his face.
"Do you want to cancel this time's wedding, then?" he asked.
A sneer spread across Colton's face. Cancel? How can I possibly let Evelyn off so easily? "Nope, I'm not canceling
the wedding. Since she's done something wrong, she has to bear the consequences," he replied in a cold voice.
At this moment, Gabriel had mostly figured out what Colton was going to do. Indeed, this would teach Evelyn a
huge lesson, but this matter was also about the Wrenn Family, after all. If Colton were to produce the evidence in
public, it would bring shame upon not only Evelyn but also the entire Wrenn Family. Jackson had served in the
military in high positions for years. If such a big deal were to happen at his daughter's engagement party, he would
definitely have an egg on his face, upon which he might vent his anger on Colton.
However, Colton was well-prepared and thus had already thought of these consequences. Rubbing his chin slightly
with his hand, he replied with a smile, "It was Evelyn's fault for tricking me in the first place. Even if I call off the
wedding, your family can say nothing about that."
Gabriel understood this, but the Wrenns and the Gardners had been doing business with each other in the first
place. He feared that everyone would be in a tight spot if Colton were to insist on making the situation so ugly. "My

Going along with him, Colton said, "I know how much your father cares about his reputation. If this gets blown out
of proportion, even if I'm not to blame for this, it'll probably be difficult for us to have a calm conversation again in
the future."
"Since you already know that, why do you…" Gabriel asked, though he hesitated to finish his sentence.
"But I'm just canceling my wedding to Evelyn. I'm not saying that I'm not marrying the Wrenn Family's daughter,"
Colton explained impassively.
A hint of confusion flickered across Gabriel's eyes. Who else can Colton marry if not Evelyn? She is the only
daughter of the Wrenn Family.
Seeing Gabriel's puzzled look, Colton raised his chin slightly. He explained with a smile, "I found out before that
Nicole and Evelyn were born at the same hospital, and that Nicole and your mom had the same blood type. Don't
you think that's too much of a coincidence?"
Gabriel frowned uneasily at the sudden mention of the matter that he had buried in his heart.
