Chapter 853
Colton finally knew the reason for the big commotion today—it was because of Evelyn.
Considering how well-acquainted the Wrenns and Gardners were, there was no doubt they wanted Colton home
after an incident like this.
With his hands in his pockets, he looked at the crowd coldly before he slowly began, "What is it? Did you call me
here to make me marry Evelyn?"
Benedict looked at Colton with a serious expression on his face and crossed his arms. After a while, he said in a
deep voice, "It's an undeniable fact that you and Evelyn were naked in the same bed, and it's also a fact that many
people saw you with their own eyes. She is a young lady who has never experienced much in life. She must have
tried to end it all in a fit of depression…"
When Colton heard that, he frowned and took a moment before he commented in a deep voice, "I don't think she's
someone who would do that."
Colton's words immediately ticked Benedict off and the older man hit the table, making a loud noise.
With a hint of anger in his aged but fiery eyes, he looked straight at Colton and growled through gritted teeth, "Do

Colton didn't expect such viciousness from Evelyn. He looked at the angry old man without saying one word the
whole time.
Seeing how Colton didn't refute him, Benedict sighed and closed his eyes to think.
"Evelyn has been taken to the hospital," he muttered. "It was Gabriel who called me just now. Her condition is stable
now, but she has been crying. Since you have done something wrong to her, let's settle this with marriage."
"I will do no such thing," Colton coolly replied, as though Evelyn's theatrics didn't mean anything to him.
Angered, Benedict looked up at Colton. He was about to speak when he coughed violently as soon as he opened his
mouth.
Benjamin saw how flushed his father was from coughing, so he quickly stood up and comforted Benedict. "That's
enough, Dad. You know how stubborn Colton is. He doesn't mean any harm. Please calm down."
With that, he waved to a servant standing off to one side.

now, you're acting like you know nothing about it. How is Evelyn supposed to live? She has even tried to end it all
because of you. That's one life going to waste if you don't marry her!"
Benedict could barely catch a breath by the end of his sentence.
Benjamin immediately cast Colton a warning look to shut him up before he held onto Benedict.
"You're right, Dad," he coaxed. "I'll talk this out with Colton, so please don't be angry. How about you take a rest in
your room?"
Benedict was getting old and in addition to his poor health these years and the surgery he had to undergo because
of it, he didn't have any strength left after he lost his temper. As such, he could only slump against his seat.
The servants could read the room well. After they noticed the knowing look Benjamin threw at them, they hurriedly
helped Benedict into his room.
Only four people were left around the dining table now.
Olivia only slowly persuaded Colton after Benedict left the table.
"I am your aunt, Colton. I didn't want to say anything more about this matter, but the Gardner Family has a lot of
business dealings with the Wrenns and Goulds. I'm afraid it will get in the way of the business if you do things the
hard way."
He looked back at her with a face devoid of emotion. "I know what to do. Don't worry about it, Aunt."
