Chapter 831
"Collie, why don't we go get some food? The head chef Gabriel hired is a five-star chef who flew in all the way from
France. Everything they make is amazing."
On one hand, there was Evelyn, squinting her eyes in a smile as she sweetly spoke.
On the other hand, there was Colton, whose face was cold and expressionless. He also did not respond to her.
She pouted and ignored his behavior.
After all, that was just how he usually acted.
She licked her lips and continued, "Colton, I know you like Miss Nicole. I have given up on chasing after you. I am the
eldest daughter of the Wrenns, so I can have any man I want anyway."
Evelyn then put on a smile full of feigned cheer. Something about the way she said felt strange to him. Since when
did she change her mind?

However, they were at Siobhan's birthday party. He could not cause a scene by arguing with Evelyn. Hence, he
nodded.
"Very well."
Her face flushed in excitement when she saw that he was finally acknowledging her. There was a happy lilt in her
voice when she next spoke.
"Yay! Come on. This way, Collie."
She then began to walk away, leading him.
In the center of the front lawn was a huge dining table laden with food.
After grabbing a small plate, she began to carefully fill it with food. Once she was done, she held it out to him.
Colton did not move to take it. Instead, he frowned and coldly looked down at the plate.
Frankly speaking, he was not too picky when it came to food. When he first took over the Gardners, his days were
filled with so much work that food was merely something he filled his belly with.
As long as it did not taste disgusting, he would eat anything.
"Try some, Collie. They are all delicious; I have tasted them all before."
Then, as if Evelyn was afraid that he did not believe her, she picked up a piece and ate it.
When Colton saw that, the cold look on his face lessened. He accepted the plate and began to slowly work his way
through the plate of food.
There was one undeniable fact: the food was good and tasted just right.
The cake was sweet but not too cloying. After taking two bites, he softly commented, "Not bad."
When Evelyn heard his praise, a pure and innocent smile immediately spread across her face.
"I just knew you would like that cake," she said. "Have more."
Colton briefly glanced at her. At the sight of the naive look on her face, he could not help but recall the time when
they had just met.

She was still a young, inexperienced girl, yet she possessed a unique sort of tenacity.
During his kidnapping, if not for her help, he would have been met with an unfortunate end.
For all these years, he had been kind to her. He thought of her as a little sister, but then she suddenly changed. She
turned into an obsessive, mean-spirited woman.
He slowly distanced himself from her. The breaking point was when she spiked his medication.
He no longer fully knew the girl who had been by his side since they were children.
His throat felt rather dry after the cake, and a server just so happened to be passing by with some drinks. Hence,
he grabbed a glass of water and downed it.
As Evelyn watched him drink, a scheming look suddenly flashed across her eyes.
Her lips tilted upward in a smile as she took his plate and put it on a nearby table.
"I've come to my senses, Collie," she said. "From now on, let us continue on as siblings. Our families could still do
business with each other then. If I insisted on having my way, the peace between our families would be ruined. Our
grandfathers have been friends for years. I do not want to destroy that."
