Chapter 789
Evelyn's visage was as pale as a sheet, for she was shocked to the core. Once the phone in her pocket rang, she
finally returned to her senses before she fished it out to glance at it. Realizing it was Gabriel, she quickly answered
the call in a soft yet quavering voice, "Gabriel."
He noticed the nervousness in her voice and cooed, "Don't worry, Evelyn. Dad and I will be there soon. You'll be
fine."
The familiar voice reached her ear, and she felt the tip of her nose turning sour. She sniffed with a lump in her
throat. "Gabriel, w-why is Mom involved in a car accident?"
"We're not quite sure. We have to return to the country before getting to the bottom of it. Don't worry, Evelyn.

sister.
Currently, she resembled an innocent child who had never seen the cruelty of the outside world. Her eyebrows
fluttered, and tears streamed down her cheeks as she pouted. "Gabriel, is it because of me? Because I'm back in
the country, and Mom tagged along? That's why she's involved in a car crash, isn't it? It's all because of me."
She could not control the spilling tears while blaming herself. She wiped them off her cheeks but failed to rein in her
emotions. The tears were leaving wet trails on her face nonstop.
Knowing his sister's nature like the back of his hand, Gabriel felt helpless. "Alright, don't be sad. It's not your fault. I'll
uncover the truth. Just wait for us at the hospital, okay?"
His tender comfort finally managed to pull some senses back into her. Although her voice remained quivering, she
sniffed and responded, "Okay. Be careful on your way here."
Once the call was over, she curled herself in the car and began wailing in undertones.
Meanwhile, Colton could hear her sobs while driving in silence. However, he did not utter a word because it was not
something that needed comfort.
Eventually, the trio rushed to the hospital. Although the Wrenns' influence had not reached its paws to the country,
Siobhan was not only the woman of the house but also one of the Goulds. With such hoarding identities, the hospital
immediately dispatched its best medical team for her.
The three of them alighted from the car in great haste. Colton had contacted a professional medical team, but it
would take at least thirty minutes for them to arrive.
Panic was still evident on Evelyn's countenance. She almost tripped herself while they were on the way to the
operating room.

In the meantime, the doctors and nurses were executing emergency treatment on Siobhan. When the trio arrived,
the light outside the room still glowed bright red.
A dispirited Evelyn sat on a bench, whereas Colton and Nicole stood by the door in silence. It took a long while
before a nurse left the operating room, and Evelyn halted her without much thought. "How is she?"
The nurse took a moment to register the situation, raising her gaze onto Evelyn. "Are you her family?"
She hummed and nodded in response. Her face remained pallid as she grabbed the nurse's hands tightly and
repeated her question. "How's my mother doing?"
"She had a concussion during the accident. The truck crashed into the car, and her lungs are damaged. She needs
a blood transfusion right now," answered the nurse succinctly.
Evelyn's lips were trembling when she heard that. She gulped down her saliva before continuing, "T-Then, hurry!
Hurry up and do that!"
