Chapter 783
Evelyn had a tense expression, so it took a while before she finally spoke up in a pleading tone. "Collie, what
happened last time was due to my obsession and my belief in other people's words. Gabriel and my mother have
taught me a lesson since then. I'm also aware of my mistakes. Can you give me another chance?"
An indifferent Colton looked at her. Sure, she is a spoiled child. Then, he spared her a few more glances before he
replied, "Did you know that a slight error in administering vaccines could cause the death of more than thousands
of people?"
She paled because she merely wanted to trick him into feeling discomfiture. How could that lead to death? She
shook her head and pleaded in a mournful tone, "I really didn't know. Yes, I did ask for the medicine to be spiked,

should know what kind of a person I am."
Colton pursed his lips and said nothing as he stared at her expressionlessly.
Evelyn had mustered up her courage as she knew that she might not have the opportunity to be alone with him if
she missed her chance this time.
"Collie, it's rare for me to return to the country. Old Mr. Benedict already said to let you bring me around today.
Since you have agreed, you can't backtrack."
She glanced at his side profile; although there was a twinge of coldness, it did not affect his handsomeness.
Evelyn had known since she was a child that she fancied Colton. She even knew that if he was still single, it was only
a matter of time before the marriage between the Wrenns and Gardners would be brought up.
Yet, everything was disrupted by Nicole Anderson.
Evelyn was not happy as a result!
Although Colton was in casual attire, the same couldn't be said for his chilly aura.
She subconsciously swallowed as she began to slightly squeeze the hands by her side. Then, she tried hard to force
a smile and softly said, "Collie, I don't know anything. After all, I'm Miss Wrenn of the Wrenn Family, so I won't resort
to any underhanded tricks. Why don't you accompany me for lunch today instead?"
He lowered his gaze, which happened to fall on Evelyn's face. That face of hers was full of smiles, but it didn't touch
his heart at all.
She was afraid that Colton would refuse, so she added, "I'm heading back tomorrow. So, I won't be staying in the
country for long. Just treat it as you buying me a farewell meal as a friend, alright?"

Colton did not refuse her offer in the end. He slowly nodded and responded with a hum.
There was a bright smile on Evelyn's face as she swept the unhappy events under the rug. As she tried to lean
against Colton, he evaded her, but she was not exasperated. Instead, she tried to move closer and continued
speaking. "I rarely have local cuisine abroad, so can you bring me that instead? I heard there is a restaurant selling
tasty local dishes near your office."
He grunted in response because he quickly wanted to put an end to all the trouble. So, Evelyn reached out to open
the car and entered but was interrupted by Colton's words.
"Sit at the back."
She froze after that but said little as she obediently did as told.
While they were on their way, Evelyn was doing all the talking. Colton barely paid any attention to her and even
uttered a perfunctory answer.
Just concentrate on driving, he figured.
Then, the phone rang. When he looked down to look at his cell phone and saw that it was Gabriel calling, his eyes
twitched before he switched to BlueTooth mode to answer the call.
