Chapter 716
The Gardner Residence.
Although Benedict only sired one son and one daughter, he had many siblings of his own. Gardner Corporation was
a family business. While he was the major shareholder of the company, his other relatives were also significant
shareholders.
As the person in charge of the company, Colton's actions led to a rise in value to everyone's net worth. It meant
they just waited to be paid their dividends while they did nothing. That also meant they had no right to complain
about anything.
Even so, they still harbored a few unseemly ambitions.
Currently, Gardner Corporation was one of the top companies in the world. If they could hold the power, they would
surely have much more wealth than they did now.
Olivia sat on the couch with her hands clasped together and an unpleasant look on her face. She then looked up at

"Nicole's mom killed my mother," she exclaimed. "That is why I will never permit her to marry into this family!"
His face was expressionless. Ever since he found out Madeline was his wife's murderer, he had been going through
difficult days.
When he closed his eyes to sleep, all he could think about was how his wife looked while lying in a pool of her own
blood.
Day and night, that was all he thought of. Several days of that was enough to exhaust him.
Sitting beside Olivia was a middle-aged man.
"That woman killed your wife, Uncle," he said. "The Gardners cannot forgive her for that!"
Something in his eyes made it clear he was slowly being swayed by that logic. He gradually clenched his fists.
"If Madeline Houston had truly killed my wife," he darkly said. "I would never allow Nicole to get together with
Colton either."
Olivia knew how much Colton liked Nicole though, so she worried. "What if he disagrees with that? He seems to be
quite in love with her."
Benjamin had spent the last two days in agony ever since he found out about what happened. Deep down, he was
furious. However, he was the head of the family. Hence, he had to suppress his emotions.
Wendy frowned as she listened to the older members of the family continuously chatter. "Why must the children
always suffer for what the older generation did?" she asked in dissatisfaction.
Her question made the elders of the family look at her.
She stared into their eyes without fear as she continued to speak.
"My brother loves Nicole. Let him love her, for Nicole is not Grandma's killer."
When Olivia heard that, her face went pale with anger. She slammed a hand hard against the table surface as she
began to roar at Wendy.
"What nonsense is that? If that woman could do a hit-and-run, how could any daughter raised by her be a good
person?"
Wendy had a short fuse. When she heard the questioning tone in Olivia's voice, she shot to her feet and barked out

"Why would Miss Nicole be a bad person? She saved Grandpa and Mom. She had never committed any crime in her
life!"
Wendy shouting back made Olivia's face twist even further in displeasure.
As for Anna, even though she wanted to defend Nicole, the matter involved was so serious that she had to stop
Wendy. She grabbed Wendy by the hand and shook her head.
Wendy wanted to continue defending Nicole, but the distress on her mother's face made her stop talking. Instead,
she stomped away and went back to her room.
Olivia scoffed when she saw that. "Just look at your daughter," she disdainfully said to Anna.
Anna lowered her gaze and kept quiet as her face went pale.
For the past few days, the Jenkins had fallen from grace due to what happened with the Zunigas. Naturally, she was
now a laughing stock in the family.
After mocking Anna, Olivia turned back to Benedict.
"Dad, if Colton insists on doing things his way, I hope you will confiscate all of the shares he holds."
