Chapter 704
Nicole swept her eyes across the group of reporters and hustled to get ahead while maintaining a stony expression.
Colton, who was behind her, reached out and landed his palms on her back. His broad palm held her tightly as if to
provide her with endless strength.
After regaining her composure, she asked in a level-headed manner, "Where's the evidence?"
The reporters scrambling to interview her were taken aback; it was probably because they didn't expect her to say
something like that.
Looking at them, she repeated her question. "Where's the evidence?"
They didn't expect that, so none of them dared to pester her.
Squeezing their mics, they focused their cameras on Nicole instead. One of the reporters eventually mustered the
courage to speak up. "Miss Anderson, the accusation that you murdered Norman Clancy's family is just a rumor. We

Nicole sneered. "Clear up the suspicion? You sure enjoy talking nonsense. If you were here to clear up the
suspicions, would you have been so aggressive from the get-go?"
The reporter was instantly at a loss for words.
She glanced up. Her thoughts had recently been consumed by perplexing and upsetting issues. In addition to the
stress of dealing with these nosy people, she felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her.
"I am not responsible for what I have not done. Please don't accuse me of something I didn't do. If you don't have
solid evidence, stop your malicious and groundless speculations now! I reserve the right to hold you accountable!"
Nicole's words sounded like they came from a frozen cellar that was cold enough to make one shudder.
When Colton reached out to grab her arm, she finally recovered from the anger building up inside her. After
rubbing her eyes, she closed them wearily. She also realized that she had lost her cool.
"Let's go home." She glanced sideways at him.
He nodded in response, holding her hand, and led her into the car.
When the reporters intended to follow them, they noticed his warning gaze. They were instantly frightened by that
and dared not push forward.
Colton protected Nicole until they got into the car. The driver then slammed on the accelerator and drove away
from the crowd of reporters. Sitting in the car, all she felt was fatigue. Closing her eyes, she leaned against the
backseat without doing anything.
Taking a quick glimpse at her, he noticed how pale she was. He reached out and linked their fingers before he asked
in worry, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Hearing his voice, she slowly opened her eyes and shook her head. She then offered him a bitter smile and replied
in a hoarse voice, "No."
Colton remained silent.
Nicole reached up to rub the corners of her eyes before continuing, "I feel like I lost my composure today."

He smiled, tightened his grip on her hand, and reassured her, "I'm here, so don't worry. I will solve the problem for
you."
Nicole lowered her head, and her gaze fell on their intertwined hands. For some reason, she felt at ease hearing
that from him. It seemed as if she had nothing to be afraid of when he gave her his words.
"Thanks," she uttered, feeling her throat a little dry.
They didn't talk along the way home.
What Nicole said today must have offended the reporters completely. She reckoned that tomorrow's news wouldn't
benefit her at all. Colton didn't say anything but reminded her to rest early. Offering him a smile, she went upstairs
without another word.
Dragging her worn-out body, she washed up and plopped onto the bed. She started missing Hayden while doing so.
She came abroad this time mainly to attend F&R Enterprise's trade fair and to investigate the cause of the Clancy
Family's death, so he was left at home.
