Chapter 289 "Ms. Graham, are you really going to force him to quit? A person like him may seem friendly and able to handle things smoothly in any situation on the surface, but in reality, he is someone who holds grudges and seeks revenge. I'm worried he'll retaliate against you," Clara warned anxiously.
Angela smiled, exuding confidence. "Let him try to retaliate. He's no good anyway. Over the years, he's used his position to shove a bunch of brainless idiots into the company. If we don't deal with him this time, it'll just cback to bite us later. It's better to take him out completely now." Having cleaned up the trash, Angela felt particularly cheerful.
She planned to take a drive over the next couple of days-to cruise around the suburbs, enjoy the mountains and waters outside the city, and basically treat herself to a day off.
With that idea in mind, she immediately set things in motion, wrapping up all company affairs two days in advance and delegating anything unfinished to Clara.
Just like any other day, she left for work as usual, clocked in, and at 10:20 am, she made her escape from the office, heading straight for the underground parking lot.
Alas, she failed to notice a shadowy figure sneaking away through one of the parking lot's corridors.
Spending every day in skyscrapers made stepping out to see the outside world feel incredibly refreshing. She drove leisurely, enjoying the slow, relaxing journey. Soon, she reached the outskirts, where traffic thinned out, and she gently pressed on the accelerator, heading toward her destination.

It felt as though the brakes weren't responding properly.
A chill ran down Angela's spine as she tried to pull over to the side of the road. She stepped on the brake pedal repeatedly, but nothing happened.
The car continued on at a steady pace, and soon, she was approaching Serenity Park.
Her mind went blank, and panic set in. Serenity Park was always crowded. If she drove right in, the consequences would be disastrous.
Trembling, she fumbled for her phone, one hand still gripping the steering wheel while the other dialed Dexter's number.
As if on cue-when trouble struck, the first person she would think of was him.
Dexter answered almost immediately. The moment his voice cthrough, Angela becoverwhelmed with relief and began tearing up.
"Dexter, my brakes have failed. What do I do?" She was driving along the perimeter road of Serenity Park at a steady speed, which kept things temporarily under control.
In a cold, sharp tone, Dexter replied, "Sendyour location-now!" Momentarily forgetting that he wasn't physically beside her, Angela gritted her teeth and nodded dully before sending her coordinates with one hand.
Her thoughts raced. She wondered whether someone had tampered with her car.
After all, Dexter had given her the car, so it was the best of the best. There was just no way this kind of failure could happen.
But at this point, surviving was the most important thing. With every ounce of effort, Angela struggled to keep control of the steering wheel. Her heart pounded so hard thought it might burst from vers sine chest.
Ahead, there was a bend. A few groups of schoolchildren cinto view, all obeying traffic rules.
Angela turned the wheel sharply to the left, extremely cautiously, afraid of even the slightest miscalculation.
But at that very moment, two schoolchildren suddenly darted out from the side, laughing and playing around, utterly oblivious to her car.

Angela was thrown into a state of shock. She pounded on the horn. m desperately, but it was already too late. The road was a downhill stretch, and she simply couldn't stop the vehicle.
In that split second, a thousand thoughts raced through Angela's mind, but there wasn't tto think about them. She could only steer the car toward the side with the lake. Her SUV smashed through the railing by the lakeside and barreled straight into the water.
A sudden plop rang out, followed by a tremendous splash. Angela felt.
something thing slan into her, and she sensed blood seeping from the back of her head while her shoulders and back ached numb with pain. Angela knew how to swim. She refused to sit and wait for death.
Before the car was fully submerged, she rolled down the window, held her breath, and prepared to plunge into the water.
But just then, a wave of dizziness hit the back of her head, and a dull, heavy pain washed over her, sapping her strength in an instant.
