Chapter 326
Carson sat across from Jonathan and found out that the waiter in the private room had been changed
to Amy today. When Charlie mentioned Estelle, Jonathan didn’t even lift his head, so he knew
something was up.
It probably had something to do with that phone call he made the other day, and he couldn’t help but
feel anxious inside.
Jonathan’s expression remained devoid of emotions as the atmosphere seemed to return to normal,
with everyone laughing and enjoying themselves, as if nothing had happened and everything had
reverted to how it used to be.
In the following days, Jonathan would occasionally visit, either engaging in poker games with Charlie
and the others or sitting alone on the sofa, quietly drinking. However, he never mentioned Estelle.
Charlie concluded that the two had indeed ended their relationship.
Jonathan, known for his stoic demeanor, kept his emotions hidden, causing those who didn’t know him
well to remain oblivious to any underlying issues. The only noticeable change was that he had briefly
stopped smoking, but now he had resumed the habit, even indulging in it more than before. Charlie

dessert shop was short on staff, she decided to finish her work there this month and then go to
Charlie’s company after school starts as a formal pre-graduation internship.
After Emily stopped working as the delivery girl, she had more free time and continued to help Estelle
with breakfast and would also make late-night snacks for her when she came home.
If Estelle went to the supermarket, she would buy a bunch of ingredients and put them in Emily’s fridge,
while her own fridge was filled with ice cream and yogurt again.
Emily hadn’t seen Jonathan for many days, and when she asked Estelle about it, Estelle just said he
was very busy.
Emily couldn’t shake the feeling that Estelle was in a somber state, despite her attempts to hide it. It
was evident in her subtle expressions and the sadness reflected in her eyes.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Xavier’s friend Zachary assumed the role of caretaker. Zachary, known for
his tough demeanor, occupied the bedside seat and often snored throughout the night.
The woman in the adjacent bed, who had rented a temporary bed, remained silent. She slept beneath
the window and struggled to find rest even with her ears covered, seemingly plagued by a lack of
sleep.
After two days of torment, the woman went to Xavier while Zachary was away, whispering, “Where’s
your girlfriend? Why isn’t she here taking care of you? Your friend sleeps way too soundly, he doesn’t
even notice when you get up to use the bathroom at night.”
Xavier gave her a cold glance and didn’t say a word.
The woman left when she saw he didn’t respond.
Zachary was a smoker and felt uncomfortable in the hospital, so every day he would sneak out to

the public restroom outside to smoke.
Xavier also smelled the smoke on him and craved for it, so he asked Zachary to push him in a
wheelchair, and they went to the public restroom outside to sneak a smoke together.
One day, after Xavier finished smoking and was about to leave, someone rushed in and hurried to the
next stall.
As they brushed past each other, Xavier felt that he looked familiar, so he stayed there and waited for
the guy to come out.

more and more sure that he knew him. He asked, “Are you Conner’s brother?”
The boy, in his early twenties, was taken aback and turned around excitedly. “You know my brother?”
Xavier’s expression grew solemn, and he nodded slowly, studying the young man before him. With a
smile, he replied, “We have crossed paths before, but back then, you were just a teenager.”
The young man, Conner, whose real name was Tyrannosaurus, hailed from a mountain village in J
City. He had left to join the army and eventually became a mercenary.
Keeping his true occupation a secret from his family, Conner worried about endangering their safety
and facing potential reprisals. Consequently, he could only sneak back home occasionally to visit his
parents.
During one of Conner’s visits, Xavier had accompanied him, standing together on a hillside and
observing from a distance. Xavier was aware that Conner had a younger brother and sister.
Struggling to recall any memories of Xavier, the young man asked, “Who are you?”
“You don’t know me!” Xavier smiled faintly. “How old are you? Are you still in school?”
The young man laughed, “I just graduated this year, and I’m about to start working!”
