Chapter 316

Nora’s hand trembled as she took hold of the items, her face filled with panic as she looked up at

Charlie. “Chare what… what are you saying?”

It’s over!” Charle placed the bag in her hand, his voice icy. “Tell your friend to delete Emily’s picture, or

else you know the consequences!”

With that, Charlie grabbed the bewildered Emily and walked away with determined steps.

The items in Nora’s hand slipped from her grasp, her heart gripped by panic. She called out Charlie’s

name loudly, but he kept walking without looking back.

Noreen approached, wearing a smug expression. “Now you see, Charlie never truly cared for you. He

was just toying with you!”

Nora’s hand shot up, slapping Noreen’s face. “You deliberately brought Emily here, didn’t you? You

wanted to frame me!”

Noreen’s cheek stung from the slap, but she deliberately provoked Nora. “Yes, I brought her here on

purpose. Just imagine how much Charlie must like me since he’s so kind to my cousin. There’s no use

getting angry. Charlie has already ended things with you!”

“You wicked woman!” Nora seethed with anger, launching herself at Noreen, attempting to scratch

her face.

Noreen fought back, protecting her face while retaliating against Nora.

The two started fighting, with the usually elegant ladies now looking no different from street brawlers.

Others hesitated for a moment before coming over to break up the fight. The room was suddenly filled

with yells and slaps, a chaotic mess.

Half an hour later.

Emily, still wearing her delivery uniform, pushed the shopping cart behind Charlie, her brows furrowed

the whole time.

It was Charlie’s first time at the grocery store, and he couldn’t find the fresh produce section. When he

saw the snack aisle, he loaded the cart with snacks that Emily loved.

Emily’s delivery uniform and Charlie’s custom-made suit made them quite the odd coupling, drawing

the attention of many people along the way.

Picking up a box of chocolates, Charlie asked Emily, “Do you like this?”

Emily glanced at Charlie, her eyebrows furrowed in concern.

Charlie reached out and gently touched her forehead, asking, “Why do you keep frowning? Is cooking

really that unpleasant for you? Are you unwilling to do it?”

Emily shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper. “Charlie, your girlfriend gave me a hard time

because she was jealous of Noreen. Breaking up with her like this makes me feel guilty.”

Charlie smiled reassuringly. “It’s not your fault. I wanted to break up with her anyway. You saw it too; I

even had breakup gifts prepared.”

Emily found it hard to believe. “Why did you want to break up with her?”

“No particular reason,” Charlie replied casually as he placed a chocolate bar in the shopping cart. “She

just annoys me. I don’t want to see her anymore.”

Emily’s thought drifted to Noreen, realizing that Charlie had always been a playboy, never maintaining

a relationship for more than three months. Now she had witnessed it firsthand.

She spoke from the heart, “Charlie, you’ll hurt them like this.”

Charlie snickered, “Hurt what? I made it clear when we were together; it’s just short-term. If they don’t

like it, I won’t force them. Besides, I’ve never treated them badly. Do you think they’re crying for me

because they like me?”

Emily knew what he meant and was amused by him, wondering how someone like Charlie could exist.

Surprisingly, despite knowing that he’s not a good person, some women still strive to become his

girlfriend, believing they will be the exception to his behavior.

Emily paused, reflecting for a moment, and then spoke to Charlie, “Charlie, you’re remarkable. I

imagine some of your past girlfriends must have been attracted to you for reasons beyond material

wealth. If you come across someone like that, treat her kindly. After all, at some point, you’ll have to

consider marriage, won’t you?”

Marriage is traditionally intended to be a lifelong commitment.
