Chapter 296
Culinary Paradise was known for its signature dishes and take–out, but since the food needed to be
freshly made, Emily had to wait for a while outsid. In the meanwhile, she took the opportunity to finish
her dinner.
Upon entering the hotel lobby, a waiter handed her the packed food with a reminder, “Two boxes
contain pastries. Make sure they don’t get wet!” Emily nodded with a smile and placed everything
neatly in the take–out box.
After packing everything, she slung it over her shoulder and turned to walk out. Just then, she glanced
towards the window and locked eyes with Charlie, who was staring right at her.
Charlie gave her a gentle smile.
Emily wanted to say hi and remind him to take the money, but seeing two well–dressed men sitting next
to him, who appeared to be Charlie’s friends, she merely nodded at him before quickly walking away.

about everything.
However, now that they hadn’t seen each other for a while, the familiarity had faded, and it felt like they
were just casual acquaintances. Emily felt this was normal, as she and Charlie were from different
worlds, but not the same kind of people.
As soon as she stepped outside, she was caught off guard by the sudden rain.
Emily wanted to take shelter from the rain outside the hotel, but soon she received a call from a
customer urging her to deliver the takeout quickly, or they would leave a bad rating.
Left with no choice, Emily removed her jacket, wrapped it around the take–out box, and braced herself
to run through the rain.
By the time she reached her vehicle, she was already drenched.
She fastened the take–out box securely on top, ensuring it wouldn’t get wet, before wiping the rain from
her face and setting off on her delivery.
Charlie was watching from the window. Under the dim street lights, the rain shattered the shadows cast
by the lights on the ground. The girl was soaked, the rain pouring over her head as she straddled her
bike. She wobbled for a moment, almost falling over.
But she managed to regain her balance and rode off.
Amidst the busy traffic and crowds of people rushing home, no one paid any attention to the young girl
braving the storm to deliver take–out food. Charlie casually asked, “How much do delivery riders make
per order?”
The two well–dressed men sitting opposite him, who belonged to the upper class of society, pondered
for a moment. One of them chuckled, “Probably around four or five bucks.”
Four or five bucks?
How many orders would she have to deliver to make 5,000?
Charlie lowered his gaze back to his phone. The screen was still on the page where Emily had
transferred money, and he looked at the figure, realizing for the first time how much 5,000 truly was!

She knew that Emily was still out delivering food.
Suddenly feeling very sorry for the girl, she thought about how Charlie’s 100,000 dollar debt might
crush her.
Perhaps she should have a talk with Charlie tonight.
The heavy rain came quickly and left just as fast. Less than half an hour later, the downpour had
dwindled to a drizzle.
In a private dining room of Culinary Paradise, several people were gathered, including Charlie,
Jonathan, Carson, and other familiar faces. But there was an additional person present.
The man was 24, with a baby face and delicate features. His sun–kissed skin gave him a healthy and
lively vibe.
He poured Jonathan a glass of wine and said playfully, “Jonah, my apology. Please don’t be mad.”
Charlie joked, “I’m your real brother, but how come you never apologize to me?”
