Chapter 1701
“Uh-huh.” Estelle nodded.
Jonathan, looking deep into her eyes, saw nothing but smile and warmth towards him. Only then did he feel
somewhat at ease and started the car to leave.
Today wasnt a weekend, so the Yum Yum Bakery had fewer customers. Courtney, having a bit of free time, sat
down to chat with them for a while.
She brewed some freshly dried jasmine tea for Estelle. The jasmine tree outside the window was still lush even after
fall had set in. With every gust of wind, a few jasmine flowers would fall onto the window. The faint scent of jasmine
wafted throughout the room.
Mr. Gould’s new dish was ready, a seemingly simple vegetarian dish that required seven or eight steps to prepare.
And of course, it tasted fantastic.
After lunch, Estelle went out to the yard to feed the rabbits, with Jonathan sitting beside her, handing her vegetable

“If you love rabbits that much, why not ask Mr. Wagner to keep a couple at Villa del Sol?” Jonathan proposed.
Estelle raised an eyebrow, “Keep rabbits at Villa del Sol and let them face those two fierce dogs every day? Have
you considered the feelings of the rabbits?”
Jonathan chuckled, “I heard rabbits are quite timid”
“Yes, rabbits can easily die of fright,” Estelle responded, feeding the rabbits the vegetable leaves in her hand.
She then asked softly, “Do you believe what the post said about me being responsible for the deaths of Mr. and Mrs.
Brown?”
Jonathan was taken aback, but shook his head, “I don’t believe it, not a single word”
Estelle gazed into the distance, speaking slowly, “My adoptive parents’ death had nothing to do with me. The night
before the incident, they asked me to trim the roots of the wild mushrooms we were going to sell. If I didn’t, they
threatened not to feed me. I kept trimming until ten o’clock at night, my hands swollen and red from the cold. I
couldn’t hold the scissors anymore, so I fell asleep leaning against the wooden crate full of mushrooms. Victor
came out to pee and saw me asleep. He then told his parents, who came out and started hitting my head against
the car frame. The scissors almost poked my eye. I was numb from the cold and couldn’t feel the pain, or maybe
I’ve forgotten after all these years, but all I remember is wishing they’d kill me tight then and there, so I wouldn’t
have to live in such hunger and pain.”
Jonathan held her hand up to his forehead, thinking about that cold night and the helpless little girl, his heart
aching, “Letting them die like that was too easy for them.”
He used to find the talk of time travel or reincarnation ridiculous, but now he sincerely wished he could go back in
time to protect Estelle from so much harm.
He couldn’t time travel, but even after all these years, he still believed that grinding the Brown family to dust was
not enough.
But Mr. and Mrs. Brown were dead, and there was still Victor.
Estelle looked calm, “I didn’t bring this up to make you feel sorry for me. I’ve long stopped caring about those
hardships. I just wanted to tell you that I didn’t harm them.”

“So what if it was you? If I could be there for you, I would have done it myself!” Jonathan’s eyes were cold and
determined, “I don’t care about justice. Nothing is more important than you!”
Estelle’s eyes sparkled like stars. If suffering could lead to meeting Jonathan, she would gladly accept it.
“Ella!” Jonathan’s dark eyes were full of sorrow as he murmured, “Let’s have a daughter. I will spoil her and make
her the happiest little princess in the world.”
Estelle blushed slightly and withdrew her hand, ‘You’re off-topic!”
“It’s not off-topic, we can stop taking birth control in a month.” Jonathan looked at her intently, implying something.
Estelle didn’t follow up on his comment, but asked, “I heard the Lamont Group and the Crawley family’s project that
was half a year in the making has been terminated. Did that result in a big loss?”
Knowing that Estelle had brought up the post online, Jonathan realized she knew everything and didn’t try to hide it
anymore, “It’s fine, the project is still ongoing, but we’re not working with the Crawley family anymore.”
Estelle was still worried, “If you cooperate with someone else, wouldn’t the Crawley family try to sabotage it?”
After all, the project was based in B City.
