Elliott’s eyes widened in surprise. After a moment of thought, he whispered, “Emily, you’ve been having a tough
time all by yourself these past years. I wish you could be with Mr. James and have an easier life, but I’m worried
that you might end up getting hurt.”
Emily shook her head with a smile. “I won’t get hurt. I’ve known how this would turn out, and I’m ready for it.”
Elliott frowned, looking at Emily with concern.
Emily said, “Let’s keep my situation with Charlie a secret from mom and sister-in-law for now.”
Elliott nodded immediately. “Got it!”
Emily placed a spoon in the soup plate and said, “Because of my relationship with Charlie, your position in the
company might be a bit tricky. You have to handle it carefully.”
Elliott chuckled. “Did Mr. James tell you that? Actually, I know what director Lucien is thinking. I’m willing to take on
more responsibilities and projects to earn extra cash,”
Emily raised her eyebrows and asked, “Are you strapped for cash?”
“No,” Elliott shook his head slowly, “I just want to give all the money I earn to you.”
“To me?” Emily looked even more surprised.

I used it to buy a car for your sister-in-law. So, I want to earn more money to give back to you, so you won’t be

Emily was taken aback. She looked at Elliott, her nose tingling. She quickly lowered her head and said, “Bro, you
don’t have to do this. You’re overthinking!”
“How could I not? It’s just basic adult manners.” Elliott took a sip of the soup, speaking slowly, “I know your friends
are all well-off. But when dealing with such people, you can’t take advantage of them, otherwise, you’ll always feel
inferior. Plus, you might end up with Mr. James. You can’t see yourself as less than him.”
Emily’s throat tightened as she looked up at Elliott. “What I meant is, I’ll return their favors. You don’t have to worry
about it. I can earn my own money.”
Elliott looked at her with concern. “You’re renting a place outside, you have to pay rent, hire someone to take care
of Kya, and cover everyday expenses. Even if you earn a lot, you won’t have much left. Anyway, I’ll make sure to
earn this money for you.”
Emily was a bit anxious. “How are you going to earn it? By overworking? What about mom and sister-in-law if you
ruin your health?” Elliott was taken aback.
Emily glared at him and said, “Since you know what director Lucien is thinking, you shouldn’t just comply with him.
You can get promotions and raises based on your own abilities. Even though you want to help, this is not the right
way. How could I accept the money you earn this way without feeling guilty?”
Elliott frowned. “I’ll take care of my health.”
Emily knew that Charlie was aware of this situation and would handle it properly, so she didn’t argue further with
Elliott and just urged him to eat.
In the afternoon, Bonnie returned early from B City to take care of Elliott. Upon seeing him, she naturally gave him
an earful.
Emily chuckled. “My brother has already realized his mistake.”
Bonnie complained, “Your brother talks about wanting kids, but he’s always getting hammered. How is he going to
have kids with his terrible lifestyle?”
Elliott’s face turned red. He said awkwardly, “Why would you bring that up in front of Emily?”
Bonnie replied bluntly, “Emily is already a mom. What’s wrong with discussing this?”
Elliott’s face changed immediately. He tried to give Bonnie a hint.
Bonnie realized she had overstepped and turned to Emily to apologize ‘Emily, don’t get me wrong I was just stating
the facts, not trying to mock

Emily gave a suft laugh, stood up, and sand, “Sister in law you take care of my brother Im going back to check on
Kya”
“Go ahead, you’ve worked hard this time” Bonnie humedly said, “Come over to our house for dinner when you have
time. Mam misses you too ”
“Sure!”
Emily nodded with a smile, bid Elliott goodbye and left the hospital

Once home, Kya ran over, “Mommy!”
Emily crouched down and held her in her arms. “Mommy’s back!”
“Where did you go? I didn’t see you when I woke up this morning. I almost cried!” Kya said.
“Don’t you have Estelle to keep you company?” Emily smiled.
