Chapter 46 “I don’t know what | would do if anything ever happens to you,” he confesses.

| can’t believe what he’s said to me. | didn’t think that Adam cared aboutthis much. He's shown mixed signals all along, and | could never figure out what he truly felt about me. But hearing him say this tomelts my heart. He may say things that hurt me, but his actions have also shown that he cared.

But I still can’t forget what I'm fighting for and the people that depend on me. Adam may be a man that | wanted even though | didn’t want to admit it, but he was also the man that could destroy the world as we knew it, and | was the only one to stop him.

The only chance for us is for you to joinand help make the world a better place.” Our eyes lock in a heated stare, and I'm suddenly reminded of what happened between us before any of this madness took place. | know that Adam has sensed the change in the atmosphere as well. His eyes darken a shade, and there is no hiding the hunger in his eyes. He wants me. Adam wants me.

He growls and pullsto the ground with him. He pushes my body beneath his, “I want you. If****kg burn for you. | need you more than you'll ever know.” “And I'm happy to give myself to you as long as you make the right decision.” Adam slowly undressed me, and in those few seconds, | could see the fight within him. He’s battling the demon that wants to take over the world to be with me. I’m not sure what his final decision would be, but I'm not going to miss this chance to be the closest | can be with him.

Adam leans down and kisses my neck, and | fist my hand in his hair, holding on for dear life. My body feels the beautiful rush of heat like it always does when he touches me.
