“The first of May? So fast?” Blake and Alina exclaimed in unison.

Despite knowing that Avery would get married one day, Blake was still emotional.

The granddaughter I doted on the most and who once depended on me solely is going to get married soon. Truly, I

can't bear to part with her!

Lifting his gnarled hands that were trembling, he wiped the tears that had escaped his eyes at some point in time.

“Ery, I knew that you'd get married sooner or later and have looked forward to that day for a long time. But now

that you're really getting married, I'm reluctant to let you go!”

His wizened eyes and the tears inexorably shimmering in them made Avery's heart feel heavy beyond words. Her

nose stung, and she felt like something was lodged in her throat.

However, she had long since learned to control her emotions after the trials and tribulations she had been through

in the past few years. Thanks to that, she didn't cry in front of her grandfather.

Taking out a piece of tissue, Avery helped to wipe his tears and coaxed, “Actually, Grandpa, it doesn't matter

whether I get married. We're in the same city, and the distance between us isn't far. As long as I'm free, I'll come

and visit you. Don't be sad, Grandpa.”

matter what happens, you have to be considerate of each other. And Ery, work keeps Cayden busy. Business

socializing is something he can't avoid, and you need to learn to understand that. Cayden, I'll be entrusting my

precious granddaughter to you. I sincerely wish you both happiness in all of your days.”

Cayden stepped forward and led the elderly man to the couch for a seat.

Avery with all my life and protect her forever. You can rest assured about that. After we get married, I'll transfer all

my personal assets to her. If I were to betray her one day, I'd leave the marriage penniless. What do you think

about that?”

Upon hearing that, Alina was slightly stunned.

Never had she expected Cayden to make such a promise.

He's in charge of the whole of Trident Group. Thus, his net worth is naturally astronomical. Even if it's just his

personal assets, it'll be a great fortune unimaginable to the ordinary person. If he were to really transfer them to

Avery, wouldn't she become the richest woman in Ackleton?

Once again, she studied the handsome young man seriously.

Reaching out, Cayden took her fingers and enveloped them in his palm.

At the film studio, Nicole was shooting on set while sporting an exquisite headdress and an ancient costume that

gave off a celestial feeling.

The costume drama titled Resplendent Beauty that she was filming was adapted from a on the internet that

was all the rage then. It depicted the tragic love story of a prince skilled in battle and a stunningly beautiful sage on

opposing sides during a war-torn era.

The filming of the costume drama that day was of the sixteenth scene, whereby the prince and sage parted ways

because of a misunderstanding. The female lead was captured and brought into the palace by a noble consort who

idolized the prince. She was slapped for revenge, but the prince rushed over in time and saved her. Consequently,

their relationship deepened, and they started going into courtship.

“Acton! Everyone is to be silent, and all idlers before the cameras are to leave at once!” the director ordered

through a megaphone.

In no time, order was restored at the set.

The shooting then began.

The noble consort sent men to bring the sage into the palace before commanding an attendant and a maid to slap

her without showing mercy.

Of course, the person being slapped was Nicole's stand-in, a woman with a similar figure and countenance.

Meanwhile, Nicole had two assistants by her side. One held an umbrella over her head while the other peeled

grapes for her.

As Nicole enjoyed being waited on hand and foot by her assistants, she watched the stand-in film the scene on her

behalf.

Fortunately, the stand-in's acting skills were pretty good, and the scene promptly wrapped up.

The next scene was of the male lead being distressed over the female lead's injury before carrying her to his

bedroom to take care of her. That aside, he forced a kiss on her.

Since quite a number of close-up shots were required for that scene, Nicole had no choice but to film it in person.

The actor playing the male lead recently enjoyed a surge in net worth and was one of the hottest heartthrobs in the

country. On top of that, his acting skills were considered remarkable in the entertainment industry dominated by

young idols.

Despite his striking looks and impressive acting skills, Nicole felt that he couldn't compare to Cayden at all. She had

no feelings toward him and was blatantly perfunctory while acting with him.

On camera, the director observed that Nicole only knew how to feign innocence by widening her eyes. Therefore,

the sight of the male and female leads kissing was horribly awkward.

Inwardly, the director cursed incessantly. He was so livid that he was gripped by the urge to smash the camera.

Initially, the film's female lead was to be another young and popular actress with both beauty and acting skills.

Unexpectedly, a day before the filming started, the poor actress without any family background was given the boot

and replaced with Nicole. The entire incident smelled fishy, so no one would believe that there wasn't some pulling

of strings behind the scenes.

The filming for that scene took over an hour with countless retakes before it finally passed muster.

Nicole went back to her trailer to change.

When she came out after changing, she walked out with her manager, Wendy Longstaff.

She was in a good mood since Bonnie said she had already completed the task Nicole entrusted to her. According

to the latter, Avery was rather shocked upon receiving the disk.

Hence, she believed that Avery would soon leave Ackleton and Cayden of her own volition.

For that reason, Nicole was in high spirits.

When that woman has left, I believe that Cayden will fall in love with me sooner or later, considering my charms

and my parent's support!
