After what seemed like an eternity, Avery and the child in her arms were suddenly and violently pulled aside while

she was still in a daze.

Cayden was clutching Avery's arm. His handsome face was deathly pale and he exploded with anger. “What's

wrong with you, Avery? Don't you know how dangerous this is?”

He was thankful that at the critical moment, the young mother who almost caused a massive accident hit

something on the jet ski, and it drifted to a halt right when it was about to hit Avery.

The speedboat was only a fist's width away from her and the child. If it went a little further, a tragic event would

have occurred.

Cayden felt as if the world was falling apart at that harrowing scene.

Although his legs sprinted toward Avery, his body was trembling. Upon seeing Avery safe and sound, his facial

features contorted from the fear and anger in his heart.

That was so dangerous.

“H-He is still a child. He is too young to understand anything. He would have died under the motorboat if I didn't

save him. I didn't think much about it. I just rushed over,” Avery explained fearfully. She still had not wholly regained

her faculties.

It was probably her maternal instinct kicking in. A man like Cayden, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth,

would not understand at all.

Cayden yelled at Avery again when he saw her in a state of lingering fear. “Even if you don't care about yourself,

you should think about me and the children. Promise me, Avery. Never do this again. Neither the children nor I can

lose you.”

He did not know what would become of him if something happened to Avery.

Aside from the two children, her safety was his top priority. No one else could take her place.

The feeling of almost losing her earlier almost drove him crazy.

The father of the rescued child was a muscular middle-aged man. He ran over in a hurry, calling for his son

incessantly as he did so. Tears almost spilled out of his reddened eyes.

Because smoking was strictly prohibited in the glass beach house, the middle-aged man stepped outside for a

cigarette. Unexpectedly, a fatal accident almost happened in the few minutes when he was away.

His heart broke when he saw the jet ski racing toward his son.

Unfortunately, he was too far away to rescue his son in time.

The boy was his only child who he and his wife had tried for many years....

Then, the middle-aged father saw a young woman protecting her son.

Fortunately, the motorboat stopped just in time.

He did not know how he would explain to his wife and parents if anything were to happen to his child.

The child's father examined the child closely to ensure he was not hurt. He was about to thank Avery when he

turned embarrassed as he heard Cayden's reprimand out of the blue.

His words of gratitude were stuck in his throat and he could not express them.

Cayden was livid, yet his gaze toward Avery was tender.

He had an extremely handsome face, which made him stand out among ordinary people. At that moment, he was

full of hostility again, and it sent chills running down the onlookers' feet to their spines. Their gazes at him were

filled with fear.

“Mommy!” With tears on her face, Rory waddled over on her short legs and threw herself into Avery's arms.

The possibility of the jet ski hurting her mother terrified the little girl.

Zachary's eyes were red as he held on to Avery's clothes tightly. His childish voice turned into sobs. “You scared us

there, Mommy. I'm glad you are fine.”

Avery felt rattled herself. Thank god nothing happened.

Her heart twinged when she gazed at the two children's adorable faces and wondered what Rory and Zachary

would do if something were to happen to her.

But those were all assumptions. There was no time to think about them during critical moments.

Cayden's anger dissipated almost entirely when he saw Avery's hands tremble when she held the children. His heart

ached at the sight.

Under the gaze of the crowd, he hugged her a little awkwardly.

Cayden's attitude softened considerably when he pressed her head into his chest, but his tone was still a bit harsh.

“Don't cry. I won't scold you anymore. You have to put yourself first whenever you want to be selfless. You are very

important to me.”

As he watched Rory, Zachary, and the beautiful woman who saved her cry, the child who was almost killed also

burst into tears. The middle-aged man hurriedly coaxed his son, causing the crowd to start commenting on his

response.

The young mother lifted her daughter down from the jet ski and apologized profusely to Avery but was

reprimanded by Cayden, whose fury was palpable.

Reverting to his haughty persona, he let loose a tirade at the young mother as if she were his subordinate. The

young mother, oppressed by his aura of superiority, found it hard to breathe.

Besides, Cayden's reprimand made the woman's face pale. She was so ashamed that she wanted nothing more

than to have the earth swallow her whole.

Her daughter, who was about the same age as Rory and Zachary, burst into tears upon seeing how fiercely her

mother was being scolded.

“Shut up!” Cayden yelled at the little girl viciously.

It did not matter that somebody else's child was crying for that was how he would yell at his own children since they

were very young.

The little girl had grown up pampered by her family. Cayden's terrifying look and his tone of voice made her sob

even harder.

Her mother was fully aware that the disaster was her fault and did not dare justify herself even if she felt resentful.

The only thing she could do was coax her daughter silently.

The scene almost became chaotic, with the wails of children going continuously.

The person in charge of the amusement park learned of the situation and rushed over at once.

Cayden threw him a severe warning to suspend the amusement park to check the equipment and facilities before

taking Avery and the children away.

...

Dylan, stubbornly refusing to leave the hospital, was still covered in bandages when Xenia came to visit him.

He was leaning languidly on the head of the bed, eating fruits.

Xenia's lips twitched, and her indifferent expression turned playful. “I heard you were beaten so hard you were

disabled, old friend, so I came here to see you. If I had known that you're so full of vim and vigor, Mr. Musk, I would

not have come.”

Dylan threw a plump purple grape into the air, caught it deftly with his mouth, and ate it with gusto.

He then took out a tissue and dabbed the corners of his lips gracefully before saying, “Even if you didn't come, I

would have contacted you in the next few days. You probably know my situation pretty well. I want to know how I

can prevent Avery from filing for divorce and have the court reject her lawsuit. And, if the two parties insist on a

lawsuit, what are the chances of us winning?”

Xenia's eyes flickered. “As long as Weston isn't Avery's divorce lawyer, our chances of winning the case are close to

a hundred percent.”
