Chapter 278 Reunion
Time seemed to suspend its relentless march as Raphael and Elisa locked eyes.
In that charged moment, the atmosphere crackled with an electric intensity, and the weight of their shared history hung heavily in the air. Raphael's countenance wavered, a flicker of vulnerability crossing his features as he beheld her. Elisa, her face etched with a mixture of anger and pain, furrowed her brow and a frown etched its way onto her lips.
The silence was shattered by Melinda's seething outburst, her voice cutting through the stillness like a blade. Her fury propelled her forward, her steps purposeful and determined, until she stood before Raphael, her eyes ablaze with indignation.
"You!" she spat, her voice laced with venom. "After all you've done, you still have the audacity to appear before us?"
Raphael, seemingly impervious to Melinda's seething presence, refused to divert his gaze from Elisa.
His eyes bore into her, searching for some flicker of recognition, some hint of the connection they once shared. His silence spoke volumes, a plea for forgiveness and understanding.
Elisa, her hand trembling, slowly balled it into a tight fist, her fingers turning white from the strain. She bit down hard on her lower lip, a mix of conflicting emotions coursing through her veins.
Anger, hurt, and confusion battled within her, each vying for dominance. Unable to bear the intensity of Raphael's gaze, she turned her eyes away, her jaw clenched with determination.
A single tear escaped from Elisa's eye, tracing a glistening trail down her cheek, a silent testament to the depth of her anguish.
Jeremy suddenly moved closer, his touch gentle as he wiped away the evidence of her sorrow. But in that simple act, a darkness flickered in his eyes, a twisted delight in her vulnerability.
Fixing his gaze upon Raphael, Jeremy's voice dripped with malice, each word carefully measured.
"You know, man, I really don't appreciate people who make my woman cry." The words hung in the air, pregnant with a malevolence that sent shivers down one's spine. His sinister smile widened, revealing a hint of darkness lurking beneath his composed facade.

A charged silence blanketed the room as Jeremy's cutting words hung in the air. The intensity in his eyes burned with a mix of anger and betrayal, while his expression twisted into a sneer of disdain.
"You know," Jeremy's voice dripped with venom, "I had already planned on thoroughly thrashing you. But she, Elisa, convinced me otherwise. She defended you, despite what you did to her." His voice crackled with a potent blend of resentment and confusion.
All eyes gravitated toward Jeremy, his revelation stirring a mix of curiosity and intrigue.
Aliyah, her arms gracefully folded across her chest, couldn't help but wear a knowing smile. Her gaze flickered between Elisa and Jeremy, a silent observer reveling in the unfolding drama.
"So, are the two of you together?" Aliyah asked, her voice laced with a hint of playfulness.
Jeremy's smile widened, brimming with a sense of self-assuredness. "Of course. We are the academy's power couple," he declared, his tone filled with a touch of pride.
"Power replication and power nullification—a match made in heaven, wouldn't you say?"
Aliyah's smile deepened, appreciating the poetic irony of their abilities intertwining. The room crackled with the weight of unspoken truths and the piqued interest of those present.
Raphael, though his gaze remained fixed on Elisa, couldn't conceal the subtle shift in his expression. A storm of emotions raged within his eyes, an intricate dance of longing, regret, and resignation.
Aliyah's question lingered, the room holding its breath. All eyes turned to Elisa, anticipation weighing heavily upon her shoulders.
With her hands clenched tightly, she summoned her resolve and spoke, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness.
"Yes, we are," Elisa confessed, her words carrying a tinge of surrender. The admission hung in the air, casting a palpable tension over the room.
In that moment, Raphael's eyes closed, as if seeking respite from the pain that washed over him. Two seconds passed, and he opened them once more, revealing a hollow emptiness that now consumed his gaze.
The vibrant fire that once burned between him and Elisa had dwindled, reduced to mere ashes in the wake of their shattered connection.
Jeremy's sneer twisted into a grotesque mask of malice. "Well, now that you've heard the lady, why don't you do us all a favor and get the hell out of here, Raphael?"
Raphael, however, remained unfazed by Jeremy's taunts. His gaze remained fixed on Elisa, devoid of any visible emotion—neither a smile nor a frown graced his face.
But then, a hand slowly closed around Raphael's shoulder, its touch sending a ripple through his stoic facade. In an instant, his expression transformed, the mask of poker-faced indifference shattered.
"Are you deaf?" Jeremy's voice cut through the air, brimming with impatience. "Or perhaps you didn't hear what I just said."
Without hesitation, barely two seconds passing, Raphael's hand shot out, piercing through Jeremy's chest. The air crackled with decay energy as his hand penetrated, a frigid and emotionless look etched upon his face.
"Raphael!" The cry of alarm rang out in unison from Melinda, Becky, and Elisa. Among them, it was Elisa's voice that carried the most urgency, the sheer volume of her plea echoing through the room.
Meanwhile, Jeremy stared at the cold, unfeeling figure before him, horror etched across his features. He stuttered, his voice barely a whisper, "You... y-you..."
As Raphael's grip tightened around Jeremy's heart, the reality of his imminent demise settled upon him. Jeremy's certainty grew with each passing moment—a conviction that if Raphael were to move his hand even slightly, his heart would be mercilessly torn from his chest.
"W-What are you doing?" Jeremy struggled to force the words out, his body trembling with fear.
With every passing second, he felt the specter of death loom ever closer, its chilling presence painting the door to the afterlife right before his eyes.
Raphael's expression remained unchanged as he stared at Jeremy, his usual poker face masking any hint of emotion. As he was about to speak, a hand touched him, prompting him to turn his gaze towards Elisa.

Raphael shifted his gaze back to Jeremy, his voice low and menacing. "If you ever touch me again, I will rip you to shreds."
With a swift motion, Raphael withdrew his hand from Jeremy's chest, sending him staggering backward.
Still reeling from the shock, Jeremy could barely maintain his footing. Before he could regain his composure, a brutal uppercut sent him flying through the air, blood spewing from his body.
As Jeremy rolled on the ground, his body wracked with pain, Elisa's rage boiled over. "How dare you?!" she seethed, her eyes blazing with fury.
But Raphael remained stoic, his expression unchanged. He offered no explanation, no justification for his actions.
His silence only served to fuel Elisa's anger, a storm of emotions building within her.
She crouched down beside Jeremy, glaring up at Raphael. "Are you satisfied now?" Her voice was laced with bitterness, her words dripping with contempt.
"If you don't have any more damage to inflict on us, then get the hell out of here."
Raphael stood frozen, his gaze locked on her as her words hung in the air. Slowly, he turned around, slipping his hands into his pockets, and started walking away.
Across the scene, Aliyah watched with a sneer, relishing in the unfolding drama. She turned her attention to Elisa, a smirk playing on her lips. "Oh, Elisa, you foolish girl," she taunted. "You'll soon regret what you've just done, I promise you."
Elisa's face contorted with a sudden frown, her eyes narrowing. She couldn't believe Aliyah had the audacity to show up here. "And why are you still here?" she spat. "Aren't you supposed to be his little plaything?"
Aliyah remained unfazed, neither smiling nor frowning at Elisa's remark. She nodded slowly, her eyes fixed on Elisa's.
"Instead of worrying about me, perhaps you should worry about yourself," Elisa said . "Because mark my words, once Raphael is done with you, he'll discard you like yesterday's news and move on to his next conquest."
"Okay, Elisa, but don't say I didn't tell you."
With that said, Aliyah turned on her heel and walked away, her steps echoing the direction Raphael had taken.
