Maryd City was much different than other cities. The transportation array was set to the north of the city outside, away from the forest. It was secured within a heavily fortified fortress to keep it safe. It was done this way in order to allow the city residents a way out if a beast tide arrived.
Unlike other cities that had the ability to fend off beast tides, Maryd city would need to evacuate no matter what. This was only because the demonic beasts of the forest were all poisonous and were able to spray poison in any direction at any moment.
As Kana stepped out of the transportation array, she was greeted by many people coming and going. Not a single person paid her much mind except for a few men, but their gazes were not something she actually wanted being placed on her. She ignored them as she walked forward and headed towards the exit.

So there were also many shops and vendors as well as people setting up street stalls. As Kana walked down the main road, she suddenly sensed something familiar. She did not know what it was, but for some reason, it felt very familiar to her. She turned and walked down a back alley when the light of day suddenly went dark along with her surroundings.
"Old man….." Kana's aggravated voice called out. She frowned when she saw a person sitting at a table sipping on tea in the middle of this nothingness.
"Kana, I called you here to see how you are doing." The old man said with a smile. "Have a seat, let's chat."
Kana snorted but still sat down. She even helped herself to tea and moved the entire tray of snacks the old man was reaching out for to her side of the table. "What do you want?"
"I have been keeping an eye on you, and things are progressing slower than I thought they would." The old man said as he retracted his hand. He looked longingly at the snacks Kana was now guarding with her life.
"What do you expect in a world where cultivation rules? I have to grow in power, and cultivation is not something you are able to speed up just because you want to. It's already amazing that my cultivation is at the stage it is now in less than two years' time." Kana replied. She did not like this old man a single bit because it is him making things hard on her.
"Yes, that is definitely true. I will also not help you with this either. I have your entire family training to become stronger in places that are also sealed off. Just like this world, they will learn to fight and grow stronger one step at a time. So you can relax. If anything, you may be the one waiting on them." The old man said with a smile. He was hiding the fact that he made a deal with her husband to send him to the sea of stars once Kana reached the fifth plane of this world.
"It's fine if you do not help. I will push forward no matter what. I am taking this time to really learn more about myself and my powers. But sadly, right now, my death element is a bit out of my control." Kana sighed after saying this. It made it hard for her to interact with others.

You could say this will give you a higher mastery of your death element. Kana, you are a being with many elements much more powerful than you think. Once you are able to unleash those powers again while on this world, you will find out that when you leave here, your powers will be even stronger than before. There is always something to gain from hardship, it is just up to you to see what that is and take advantage of it." The old man explained. He looked at Kana with his old eyes and nodded in satisfaction. "You are maturing quickly."
"I have no choice but to. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to survive on this world. But no matter how much it pains me to say it, I do thank you. But do not let my gratitude for this one thing go to your head, I still dislike you." Kana said while pursing her lips. She would never forgive the old man for separating her from her family.
"Haha… That's fine. I hope you can learn a lot from this world. It has many dangers and people scheming left and right. You will need to get used to all of this because once you reach the sea of stars and above, you will be dealing with the same things. Oh, right before I forget….. When you finally leave this world, you will need to make your way toward the center of the universe, where many galaxies are clustered together. On a certain planet, there is another you, a past self. She should not exist. I will need you to put her into her eternal sleep. She should have been dead a long time ago." The old man's expression turned grim.
"So instead of taking care of it yourself, you are going to use me to deal with it?" Kana asked.
"Yes. It will be good for you to battle someone with the same power as you because only your life element can counter her and defeat her. So you need to quickly learn how to use it as soon as possible. I will not say any more. I am just here to check on you. I will say my goodbyes. Feel free to take the pastries." The old man said before disappearing. Kana frowned as she shoved the last of the pastries in her mouth before the table and chairs disappeared along with the teat set and plates.
The back alley came back into view as Kana sucked on her fingertips to get the cream off them before walking back towards the main road. "So I will need to fight a past self, huh? I wonder how powerful she truly is…. Well, for now, these things can wait. I first need to grow stronger here."
