734 Envying Bai Xi Xi’s Calm Look
Fu Chen sat at the side while watching his mother chatting with Bai Xi Xi amiably.
The two were chatting about trivial things such as their school matters. However, Fu Chen could not help to feel tense, worried that his mother was going to say something that would embarrass him.
Once in a while, Fu Chen would glance at Bai Xi Xi to look at her reaction. Seeing the casual look on her face as she chatted with his mother made him sigh.
He was too worried, while Bai Xi Xi was too relaxed.
At this time, he was envying Bai Xi Xi’s calm look.
Then, Fu Chen began to wonder why he should be stressing about this matter. It was not as if he was introducing his girlfriend to his parents, right?
Fu Chen was shocked that his thought had gone too far ahead.
He lowered his head, hoping that no one would see the look on his face, and guessed what was going on in his mind.

.....
After chatting with Fu Chen’s mother for a while, Bai XI Xi turned her head to look at Fu Chen’s aunt who was lying on the hospital bed on the other side of the room.
Fu Chen’s family was quite well off and the ward they got for his aunt was quite large. There was a small living area where the family could sit and receive guests.
“Fu Chen’s auntie... what happened to her?” Bai Xi Xi asked. From where she was seated, Bai Xi XI could see the tube and wire on the woman’s body.
The sound of the machine filled the room, telling them that the patient was still alive and breathing.
Qin Ruan had a faint smile on her face. “It was a car crash. She was on her way back home from work and it was a rainy day. Another car was trying to avoid a motorcycle and could not break in time. The car crashed into Fu Chen’s aunt’s car and she crashed into a truck.”
Bai Xi Xi pursed her lips into a thin line.
Last time, Fu Chen told her that his aunt was feeling unwell and did not say anything more. Bai Xi Xi thought that his aunt was down with an illness.
She did not think that it would be because of an accident.
“The doctor said that her condition is stable for now. It’s just that, we don’t know when she is going to wake up,” Qin Ruan said.
A faint sigh escaped her. Qin Ruan could only hope that Fu Chen’s aunt’s condition would not deteriorate. She did not want to watch her pushed into the operation theatre again.
There was a brief silence in the room as everyone’s attention was on Fu Chen’s aunt.
Bai Xi Xi thought about the three siblings that Fu Chen had introduced as his cousins and felt very bad for them. Those kids were too young. She hoped that Fu Chen’s aunt will wake up soon. Otherwise, the kids would be too pitiful.
Bai Xi Xi knew that growing up without a parent would be very hard. Knowing those children, she did not wish for them to experience something similar to what she once had.
The children were quite lucky that their uncle and aunt were willing to look after them. Fu Chen’s parents were really good people.
Bai Xi Xi recalled that her brother had once mentioned that they actually have a few relatives. However, after her parents passed away, her uncle and aunt no longer wanted to admit them as their relatives. The relationship broke off just like that because they were too poor. Her aunts and uncles were afraid that they were going to ask for some money.
This was the reason her brother had to raise her by himself.
That one time, Bai Xi Xi overheard her brother talking to someone on the phone. She listened for a while and saw that the relative who had disappeared wanted to get along with them again upon hearing that they managed to get some money.
Of course, her brother rejected them and mentioned how they have severed their ties.

Bai Xi Xi did not know if those relatives had tried to look for her brother again. But she knew well that her brother would not let those relatives come and find her.
Bai Xi Xi too was not willing to meet such relatives. Especially after they have abandoned them when they needed help the most.
Knock! Knock!
The sound snapped Bai Xi Xi out of her thought. She shifted her gaze to the door and watched as her brother entered the room.
Their gazes met and Bai Xi Xi did not miss the surprise in her brother’s eyes. Then, the look changed into an inquiring one.
Bai Qi came to the room after hearing from the nurse that the family was looking for him. However, he did not expect to see his little sister in his patient’s room. Moreover, she was sitting around with Fu Chen’s family.
“Doctor Bai,” Fu Yan Zi spoke when he saw him.
Bai Qi retracted his gaze and looked at Fu Yan Zi. “Mister Fu, hello.” He greeted amiably.
Qin Ruan stood up immediately. She had noticed the surprised look on Bai Qi’s face when she saw his sister in the room. “Doctor Bai, I heard that your sister and my son are classmates and invited her to come over for a chat.”
“So, it’s like that.” The look on Bai Qi’s face eased up a little bit. He looked at his sister again and asked, “Xi Xi, why are you here?”
Bai Xi Xi raised the bag in her hand. “My sister-in-law wanted me to send something to you.”
