Chapter 19 The Shocking Reveal
It wasn’t until the sun had risen from the horizon that Michaela noticed she hadn’t slept a wink.
Jacob’s tantrum had lasted until the early morning. When he saw the mess he had made, he drove out
on his own after slamming the door shut.
It turned out that that was the first time Michaela had gone against Jacob’s wishes and stood her ground.
She had always been worried about the stress her father had to go through while keeping the company
running. Since he was able to make something of himself in the highly competitive business world, it was
only natural to assume how tough his life had been.
That was why Michaela majored in marketing at university. She wanted to lessen her father’s burden in
the future.
However, no one appreciated the work she had done because of her status as the eldest daughter of the

Nonetheless, she knew success was through hard work, so she had been working hard to prove her
worth.
After what happened the night before, Michaela realized that the relationship she thought she had with
her father was nothing but an illusion. He was unreasonable, and his love for me was nothing but a ploy
for his financial gains. Today is a new day, and more challenges lie ahead. I must be prepared for
whatever comes my way.
She got out of bed and brought a set of clean clothes to the bathroom. She wanted to take a bath to
wash her exhaustion away.
As expected, all the media talked about was the canceled marriage between the Xander family and the
Lingard family.
Hence, Michaela wasn’t fazed by the news headlines she saw on her phone after getting out of the
bathroom.
Before she could tap into the articles written about the marriage, her phone rang. She instantly frowned
when she saw the number of the incoming call. She picked up the phone and asked in an angry tone,
“Everything is happening according to what you’ve said. So why are you calling me again?”
“I’m calling to tell you to ignore the things you read on the internet. Stay at home today, and this fiasco
will blow over eventually.”
After a moment of silence, Michaela suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity gradually
overlapping with a certain figure in her mind. That deep and powerful voice…
Without much thought, she blurted out, “Mr. Jonathan? Are you Mr. Jonathan?”
“Yes. It’s me.” Jonathan didn’t bother to deny it. Instead, a slight smile appeared on his face after
Michaela had guessed his identity right.
Michaela, on the other hand, was bewildered. She froze in her bed because she couldn’t comprehend
the shocking revelation. Does this mean it has been Mr. Xander all along? But why? Isn’t Zack his

for the sake of justice? Why didn’t he reveal his identity from the beginning, then? He made me think that
he was a person with ulterior motives!
While Michaela was still pondering, she heard the gentle and calm voice saying, “You can call me if you
need anything. All right, that’s all for now.”
“Wait!” Michaela finally came back to her senses when she heard that he was hanging up. She then
asked anxiously, “Mr. Jonathan, w-why are you doing this?”
“What if I told you that I’m doing it for you?” His voice was melodious and alluring.
At that moment, Michaela could feel her ears burning up, and the burning sensation was spreading
toward her fingers. She almost tossed her phone away because of that.
For some unknown reason, she started blushing, and she could feel her heart pounding frantically.
