House Fight (2)
Mu Mingtang let out a low sigh. Actually, by looking at the dress of that woman, Mu Mingtang knew that she was Xie Xuanji’s concubine, but Jiang Mingwei’s statements conveyed a lot of information that was at least much more exciting than Mu Mingtang’s own imagination.
It seemed that this was the famous concubine Lianhan who dared to pretend to be ill on the fifteenth day to rob Jiang Mingwei’s place. However, Mu Mingtang originally thought that even if Lianhan was favoured, she was just a concubine. How could she compare with Jiang Mingwei, who was talented, famous and had a prominent family background? Apart from that, Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei were officialy wed now and they were also childhood sweethearts. No matter how spoiled and crazy the concubine was, it would only reflect Jiang Mingwei’s image of generosity and nobleness. At the end of the day, Lianhan was just cannon fodder at Jiang Mingwei’s feet.
However, after listening to Jiang Mingwei’s words, Mu Mingtang couldn’t help but exclaim to herself, ‘This concubine actually stole some of Jiang Mingwei’s household management rights?!’
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThinking so, Mu Mingtang turned to look to her left and right. She finally realised that she seemed to have accidentally encountered the classic scene of a main wife and concubine conflict. This scheming concubine, not only weakened Jiang Mingwei’s position in Xie Xuanji’s heart, but even wanted to challenge Jiang Mingwei’s authority over household matters.
Lianhan was in her prime now, and Xie Xuanji was also very fond of her. He did not even stay in the main courtyard on the first day of the New Year, but went to Lianhan’s small courtyard, and even asked Lianhan to help in managing the household.
Lianhan’s aura was like a rainbow, and she even dared to compete with the main wife in front of outsiders: “The princess only said these words to tease this slaves. This slave is not as noble as the princess, and is also not as good as the princess in term of literature, but I spared no effort to reduce princess’s worries. This slave is naturally not as intelligent as the princess, but as long as the prince speaks, even if there is an extreme danger ahead, I won’t stop. All this slave has done was for the sake of the prince. How could I dare to take credit for it?”
‘Wow, wonderful.’ If this was not the wrong occasion, Mu Mingtang actually wanted to applaud.
This Lianhan’s appearance did not match with her scheming personality. When Jiang Mingwei deliberately suppressed her, Lianhen first pretended to be weak and pitiful, and finally used Xie Xuanji as a shield to climb up. In this way, it could be said that not only did she hit back at Jiang Mingwei, but also pleased Xie Xuanji. Most importantly, after all of this, Lianhan still retained her image of an innocent and pitiful white lotus.
‘Very well.’ They had successfully aroused Mu Mingtang’s interest. Mu Mingtang changed her posture, leaned on the armrest, and looked at the scene in front of her with great interest. She came from a small place so her knowledge was limited. She had never seen a fight between wives and concubines.
At a first glimpse, Xie Xuanchen could tell that Mu Mingtang was finding this whole situation amusing and intended to take her time enjoying it. Thinking so, Xie Xuanchen gave Mu Mingtang a chestnut knowing that he wouldn’t be able to return for a while and said, “Want to eat?”
As Mu Mingtang nodded quietly, Xie Xuanchen gently squeezed the chestnut, making the nut come out from the shell. When he handed it to Mu Mingtang, she casually took it and ate it.
To not disturb the two heroines, she deliberately softened her movements when biting the nut.
Jiang Mingwei glanced at Mu Mingtang from the corner of her eyes. She was very unwilling to expose the indecent side of her life in front of Mu Mingtang. So, Jiang Mingwei became anxious and her tone became a little stiff: “When did you have the right to talk in front of the guests? The prince asked you to temporarily manage the household purchases as a stop-gap measure. Even before doing anything, you are acting so out of order in front of me?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJiang Mingwei’s tone was worried and rushed, which showed that she had been angry for a long time. When Lianhan heard that, her eyes turned red and she immediately knelt on the ground to wipe her tears. She said with trembling shouldiers: “This slave has angered the princess. This slave is guilty. Prince, this slave has a lowly status and have not done any honourable work. Please take my duty to manage household matters! This slave doesn’t deserve it.”
At the end, Lianhan started to cry, causing her to choke up and unable to speak.
Jiang Mingwei originally wanted to send Lianhan away as soon as possible, but she cried in front of everyone as if she had suffered a great grievance. Jiang Mingwei who was holding back her anger for a long time couldn’t control it anymore: “Why are you crying? You are only a mere concubine. Managing one’s household is not something you can be delusional about. Even if it is taken back from you, it is only natural. Why are you crying like this?”
Lianhan didn’t speak and just cried even more bitterly. She was Xie Xuanji’s woman so when she cried like this, Xie Xuanji could not stand it. He said in a deep voice: “It is the New Year’s Festival, why are you crying? Help the concubine get up.”
Jiang Mingwei was obviously happy. She didn’t forget to add: “See, she is even crying on the New Year just to make people think that she has been wronged.”
As per Xie Xuanji’s order, one of the maids helped Lianhan to stand up. Although there was still resentment in her eyes, she did not dare to cry anymore. Jiang Mingwei was not all that happy with passing her last remark, but she did not expect Xie Xuanji to frown and say: “You should speak less. It is only the New Year, and you are so angry.”
Jiang Mingwei’s expression went blank, and she looked at Xie Xuanji in disbelief. ‘Anger? Xie Xuanji actually has a face to say that I am full of anger?’
“My lord…”
