When she scanned the room and spotted Wilfred’s report, she quickly walked over to retrieve it and read it

carefully.

Lines and lines of words in Ustranasion came into her sight, yet she couldn’t read any of them.

“Ms. Sorelle, you’re here.” Liam’s gentle voice suddenly rang out behind her.

She turned around and flashed him a smile as if nothing had happened. “I’m sorry, Dr. Kingsley. Am I interrupting

you?”

“No, you’re not. Are you here for your grandfather’s medication lab test result?”

Angeline’s eyes darkened at his words, and there was a hint of confusion in her eyes. “Yes. But I’m dumb and can’t

read it.”

“It’s okay. Everyone complains that doctors’ handwriting is the hardest to read in this world.”

Liam took off his jacket and brought Angeline to the seat. With a warm smile, he said, “Bring me the report. I’ll

explain it to you.”

Angeline quickly handed him the report and listened carefully to his explanation.

“Look. After running a lab test, we found that the medication you provided us contains aflatoxin B1, the most

carcinogenic chemical.”

I knew it! Angeline was not surprised by the result. However, she still couldn’t accept the outcome when she heard

it from Liam herself.

“Is there any chance of cure?”

“If the patient has only consumed it for a short period of time, yes. But there’ll be no hope if he has taken it for a

long time and gets cancer.”

Unfortunately, the worst case happened to Wilfred.

Dispirited, Angeline cleared her throat and said in a hoarse voice, “Understood. Thank you, Dr. Kingsley.”

“The person who produces this drug is so ruthless. No one would know about it if you didn’t carefully observe it

back then and discover the truth.”

Liam patted her shoulder as a gesture of comfort. “Ms. Sorelle, under such circumstances, I suggest you hire a

lawyer to solve the problem.”

“I understand.” Angeline took a deep breath to make herself feel better. “Thank you so much for today.”

After speaking with Liam, she walked out of the lab, took the elevator, and strode toward the main hall door.

As mixed feelings bloomed in her chest, she suddenly felt lightheaded and dizzy, and her legs almost gave away.

She quickly grabbed a seat and sat down. Holding her forehead, she gazed at the marble floor silently. Soon, tears

welled up in her eyes.

I miss the previous prosperous Sorelle family with great camaraderie among the family members. Why did the

Sorelles fall in just a few years?

Just as she was about to fall into self-doubt, someone placed a warm coat on her cold shoulders.

She could feel her shaking heart calm down upon smelling the familiar fragrance on the coat.

One who could mellow her out just like that would be none other than Evander.

“Don’t cry, Angeline. It’s not your fault.” His tone was overbearing but carried a tinge of concern.

Angeline raised her head in a daze. Looking at the handsome man before her, she could no longer hold back her

tears and started sobbing.

Evander immediately scooped her into his arms and headed to the door without saying anything.

He opened the door of the black Maybach, which was parked at the entrance, and put her in the passenger seat.

Then, he made his way to the driver’s seat and closed the door.

After raising the car window and increasing the air conditioning temperature slightly, he covered her legs with a

blanket and said in a deep voice, “There’s no one here. You may cry as hard as you want to.”

But Angeline had already regained her composure after a long time of pondering. She clutched the corners of the

coat and spoke with difficulty. “Why are you here?”

“What do you think?” Evander’s eyes darkened as he cupped her face in his hands, wiping away the tears on her

cheeks.

He originally came to her in a fit of rage. However, the anger in his heart dissipated at the sight of her sad and

helpless look.

Still, there was a hint of accusation in his voice as he continued, “Shouldn’t you give me an explanation after

suddenly leaving a breakup note?”

Angeline couldn’t help but tremble slightly at his words. She knew the note she had left behind would definitely

anger him.

However, she could only bear the consequences, and there was no room for regret.

Taking a deep breath, she gathered her courage and said with conviction, “Evander, I meant every word I had

written on the note. I hope you can reconsider our relationship too.”

“That’s enough.” Evander’s face darkened at her words.

Angeline knew she should pipe down at that moment, but she would be escaping from reality if she did. “I know you

are angry that I’ve fooled you, but I don’t regret it.”

“Angeline, you chose to be with me back then, yet you want a break up not even half a month later. Do you think

I’m someone you can fool with?” Evander’s eyes were icy cold. His furious and aggressive look made the

temperature in the car plummet as if they were in a frozen cellar.

“I’m not fooling you.” Angeline knitted her brows. There’s a misunderstanding in this matter. However, Evander has

known me for so long. How can he still mistake me for a woman with ulterior motives?

Clenching his fists, Evander stared into her eyes with a gloomy expression and mocked, “Oh? Does that mean

you’re abandoning me after using me, or you can’t resist the urge to reconcile with Hanson after meeting him a

few times?”

Her body stiffened, and she looked at him in disbelief.

It was at that moment she realized that their beautiful love was so fragile.

With a darkened face, she grasped the door handle tightly and said in a deep voice, “I think we need to calm

ourselves down first. Now isn’t the right time to talk about these things.”

When she was about to open the car door, Evander reacted very quickly and clutched her wrist so forcefully that

she grimaced and exclaimed in pain.

“Why? Are you not going to explain because you’re mad that I’ve exposed you now?” Evander glared at her coldly.

“I thought you were a great liar.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Angeline struggled to break free from his grip. However, the more she

tried, the tighter Evander’s grip was.

“I’m talking nonsense? You were willing to sleep with me for Forrester Group’s shares before this, and now, I’m

giving you another fifty million to bear me a child. What do you say?”

Is he out of his mind? Angeline felt her heart wrenched at the sight of the man’s disdainful gaze. She couldn’t

believe that he would spit out such hurtful words.

Not only did he not have any trust in her, but he also despised her from the bottom of his heart.

“Evander, we already broke up.” Angeline’s breath hitched as she felt a wave of unspeakable sadness surge within

her heart.

The tenderness in her eyes dissipated and was swiftly replaced by intense disappointment.

“From today onward, I don’t want to see you again.”
