Felix's voice broke through the silence, and it was tinged with a hint of disappointment. "Were you expecting someone else, Carol? Sad to see it's just me?" Carol took a step back, but the door behind her was already shut.
She knew that Felix was mad, and not just a little bit.
Frozen in place, she heard him call out, "Hey, Carol, I'm not mad. Chere, will you?" Yet, she stood firm, unwilling to move closer.
Suddenly, he flung the covers aside and strode toward her. His grip was firm on her wrist as he tossed her onto the bed.
Carol's back throbbed from the impact, and as she attempted to rise, she felt his hand clamp around her neck, pinning her down. Being completely immobilized, she looked up at the furious man above her.
"Cough, cough, cough." A cough escaped her lips as she felt his mouth clamp down on hers; then she felt the taste of iron bloom as her lip was bleeding.
Her heart ached, physically, from the pain, yet she couldn't struggle; his grip on her neck was too strong.
After a moment, Felix moved on to her neck, leaving a trail of marks.

With a rough move, Felix grabbed a necktie from the bedside and bound her hands with it; then he flipped her over and entered without warning.
He reached out and killed the lights, leaving only the dim glow from the nightstand, as other sounds filled the room.
Carol was truly frightened, feeling as if her waist might snap under his grip.
"It hurts, stop!" she pleaded.
But Felix didn't stop; his hands tightened even more around her waist.
Her heart felt constricted, and with her hands tied, she was powerless.
Felix bit into her shoulder and her neck, multiple times, as if he was venting his anger.
She couldn't see his face, but a rebellious fire was kindling inside her.
"Didn't Listina take good care of you? You still have the energy to lose it?" At the mention of Listina, Felix froze, and buried his face in her neck, his silence burning.
Carol tried to move, but the cool dampness returned; it felt like droplets trickling down her neck.
She wasn't sure what it was - perhaps fear-induced hallucinations.
She wanted to speak and to scream, but instead, she buried her face in the pillow and stayed silent.
It was nearly dawn when Felix finally released her.
His phone rang - the business associates from last night's party were asking where to send their gifts. Felix had left in such a hurry that no one had the chance to give theirs. He casually gave them the address of his office before hanging up.
Carol was still asleep, exhausted from the ordeal; her body was battered and bruised.
Felix sat on the edge of the bed; he had already untied her wrists, yet the red marks remained.
He gently kissed these marks when Carol woke, feeling her skin crawl at the touch.

Carol tried to get up but her legs and waist were sore, leaving her unsteady.
"What do you want for breakfast?" he asked, in an unexpectedly calm voice.
Carol had braced for anger and for restrictions, but he seemed to have no intention of confining her.
She lay back down; feeling too confused to understand his thinking, she decided to sleep off the rest.
