lan stepped closer, only to notice a red light blinking on the anklet strapped to Cynthia's leg.

He tugged at the device, and a man's voice emerged from within.

"Cynthia, you trying to make a run for it again?"

"Why the urge to flee, why so disobedient?"

"Do you really wantto break your legs?"

The man's voice, despite its softness, sent chills down lan's spine.

Cynthia, now deaf to the world, seemed to sense the anklet's alarm.

She desperately tried to rip the device off her ankle to no avail.

"Fuck off!"

"Fuck off!"

Her fingernails dug into her flesh, but the anklet wouldn't budge, the man's voice still echoing from it.

"Gone blind, gone deaf, do | need to render you mute too?"

"Get any closer to that door, and you'll get zapped again. Just stay put, stop struggling."

That's when lan realized this basement was no ordinary place.

It wasn't just blocking external signals. It was rigged with various switches.

Whenever Cynthia got too close to the exit, it would shock her.

The two goons who had been guarding Cynthia had been hit by this very current.

But Cynthia, likely having attempted escape multiple times, had grown accustomed to the shocks.

The real trouble now was that lan couldn't communicate with her.

She couldn't hear or see, instinctively fearing anyone who tried to take her away was a threat.

Worst of all, lan was running out of time.

His face grew grim as he turned to his associates and asked, "Can't we get that thing off her ankle?"

"Mr. Raymond, we've tried everything before you got here. The material is incredibly tough. Unless we cut off her legs."

lan massaged his temples, "Check for sensors by the door. Destroy them."

"We've looked into that. The basement seems mundane, but the walls and the anklet are made of the sstuff. Impenetrable.

The only choice might be to blow this place, but this lady won't make it out before the blast. She'd go down with the building."

The room fell into a tense silence as these words hung in the air.

lan glanced at the floor, his bodyguard added, "The floor's made of the smaterial."

Cynthia sat on the ground, aware of someone nearby but clueless as to who it was.

She didn't know that she was mere meters away from her daughter, blind and deaf, while her daughter could only move her

mouth.

Maja called out, "Mom."

No response.

Maja struggled to crawl over, but she was paralyzed, her body refusing to cooperate.

Cynthia was trapped in this basement, with her rescuers just in front of her, doomed to remain caged, seemingly for a lifetime.

Maja felt a bitter sting at the tip of her nose, a suffocating heaviness in her chest, and suddenly coughed up blood.

"Maja!"

lan was startled and hurried to her side, holding her tightly.

"Maja, don't scare me."

His voice was choked with emotion. They had only just reunited, and before he could say anything, she was spitting blood.

Maja felt a wrenching pain inside, "Save her, you have to get her out."

lan didn't make any promises.

Twas running out. Chaos had taken over Forbidden Island, and there were only two hours left until his rendezvous with Dylan

and Abner. He had to get Maja off the island quickly.

If any more disasters struck, no one would make it out.

But leaving meant abandoning Cynthia.

Hadn't they cto Forbidden Island to find Cynthia in the first place?
