At the hospital.

The doctor came out of the emergency room. He removed his mask and sighed. “Ah, is anyone here related to

Leah?”

Sophia Melendez immediately got up and walked over. “I am! How is she doing now?”

“The patient is in a critical condition. She’s not out of danger yet. I need one of her family members to sign here.”

The doctor handed over the paperwork. Sophia quickly signed her name, then the doctor checked it and went back

into the operating room.

Soon, Emmett appeared in the hospital. He strode straight over to Sophia, then looked up at the red light still on in

the emergency room.

“Has she not come out yet?”

Sophia nodded and sighed, “No.”

She looked at her son, speaking earnestly, “Without her help, the children would be in danger. She saved Aiden and

Alex! Now you should understand that a biological mother and a stepmother are not the same.”

Emmett knew she was referring to Clara. But even if Clara had hurt him, he didn’t want anyone badmouthing her

behind her back; it didn’t sit well with him.

“I believe that if Clara were here, she would do the same.”
