(A/N I changed Daren identity to the brother instead of the father)
(There are also some new auxiliary chapters go check them out.)
Walking out of the room, I looked right and left down the passageway. I was looking for any indication of what direction Amari ran into. Finding nothing, I sniff the air looking for her sent.
“She ran to the right? Well, let’s follow her. She must have gone to mother or Dean.” Talking to myself, I started walking down the hallway. “Hmm, I think I can see my status again. I don’t feel the pledge anymore? Meh, let’s try it.”
Shrugging, I thought in my mind. ‘Status.’

“Ugh! Wrath!? What? What happened to my status?” Shocking on air, I shouted in surprise, looking at my status. “Sigh, I really need to find out what happened last night.”
Walking faster in the same direction, Amari ran into. With my increased speed, I hoped that I wouldn’t find anything that would confuse me even more.
(A while later.)
‘I shouldn’t have said that!?’ I screamed in my mind while standing outside the dining room.
I was screaming in my head that someone I know or more someone Mom knew from back when she was in the Federation was standing right in front of me. She was standing in a defensive position with Amari hiding behind her.
Looking at the woman again in front of me. I saw she had black hair with black eyes with a face that resembles Trinity, just older. The ex-head psychologist from the Federation and the one that helped mom escape.
“I asked you who are you?” She said with a stern face.
“Aah, sorry, Trinity, my name is Kitsuna draig. The adopted the daughter of Stacy.” I said casually. Recognition flashed on her face before it changed into a face of anger.
“Respect your elder’s, brat!?” She said, hitting me on top of my head hard. “How do you know that name?”
“Ow!?” Going down on my knees, I rub my head. Looking up at her, I gave a confused face and ask. “How did you even hit me on top of my head. You are way shorter than me.” She was at least 2 heads shorter than me.
Not answering me, she pulled her hand back, getting ready to hit me again.
“Wait, wait. Mom showed me some of her memories. Please don’t hit me again.” I explained fast, hoping she won’t hit me again. For an old lady, she can hit really hard.
“Now, why would she do something like that?” Trinity said, thinking to herself.
“Amari, do you know where your parents are?” Seeing her thinking, I tried to get away by asking Amari where her parents are. She was still hiding behind Trinity. Hearing me ask, she came out and said.
“They are busy having a spar on the training grounds,” she said, coming out behind Trinity.
Nodding at her, I stood up and walked away or tried to. Feeling something grab my tail. I looked bind myself feeling my anger building.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Trinity said.
“Where do you think you are grabbing old hag?” I answered with a deep voice.
“Ooh, it seems someone doesn’t like her tail being grabbed,” She said, amused.
Not answering her, I made a dagger and threw it at her hand, holding my tail. Seeing the dagger flying, she was surprised and let go of my tail.
“Okay, okay. It really looks like you hate it. I won’t do it again.” She said this time trying to calm me down.
Taking a deep breath and said.
“Thank you. I am sorry for my reaction, though. It is a soft spot for my race.”
“Ooh, is it a spot only for your partner? huh, huh?” She said teasingly. Feeling my face getting hot, I wanted to turn around and walk away, but before I could, she continued. “Come with your Grandmother. We can talk while having breakfast. Stacy and Dean will take some time before they are finished, anyway.”
“Food!” Hearing we were getting something to eat, I followed behind her into the dining hall, forgetting what just happened. Seeing my reaction, Trinity chuckled.
‘Was she just bought over by food?” Amari thought to her self following behind us.
Walking into the dining hall, I heard someone said in surprise.
“Kitsuna?” Looking at the voice, I saw Lily with a surprised expression.
“Hello, Lily. Can you ask the chef to make extra today? I am starving.” I said, smiling.
“The poor chefs are going to be overwork again, Haha,” Lily said with an awkward laugh. She coughed and continued. “What will Milady and young miss have for breakfast.”
After they ordered their food, we went and sat at the table. I sat across from Amari while Grandmother sat at the head of the table. Amari was the first to talk.
“How did you even get here? Mother said you were in the woods last night and that you would join us later. How did you get here so fast without the jet?” She asks meekly.
“Jet? Whatever, I was the fox from before.” I said, confusing her.
“You mean the talking fox that my mother gave me last night?”
“Mother gave you? Hehe, I am going to rip her a new one when I see her.” I said, laughing to myself with a dark expression.
“Did you do anything to Rachel?” She asked with uncertainty.
“No, she was just crying the entire time, so I left her,” I said, looking at her seeing letting a breath out. Seeing this, I added, “Geez, I am not a monster. I won’t just attack someone for no reason.”
“Sorry.”
“So, that’s why she told Daren for help? What is your race that you can turn into a fox? You might not be a monster, but you aren’t human either,” Grandmother asks from the head of the table.
“That’s true. I am no longer remotely human. About the specifics of my race, that’s is a secret for now.” I said, looking into her eyes.
“A secret? Why won’t you tell your own family?” She said, frowning.
“Family? I am sorry, but we might be family, but I don’t know you. This is the first time we meet in person.” I said, smelling the food coming our way. Feeling my mouth already watering, I looked at the door leading to the kitchen.

“That was Mother’s experience, not mine,” I said, narrowing my eyes at her.
“Un, that’s good. You will fit in this family.” She said, smiling.
Shaking my head at her antics, I made way for the food Lily, and other maids brought.
“Enjoy your food. The rest will come when you are done, Kitsuna.” Lily said.
“Thank you, Lily,” I said before digging into my food.
“Huh, Lily, why isn’t her food being tested?” Grandmother said, confused.
“She is immune to poison. Not that we could have stopped her from eating it.” She said, smiling back at Grandmother. The last part was mumbled, making me the only person that heard it. Feeling me look at her, she smiled and walked away.
“Why is our food being tested for poison, Grandmother?” Hearing Amari’s question, I also looked at Grandmother waited for an answer.
“There were some Black Ops soldiers that committed treason were caught last night. They will be doing a clean up in a couple of days.” Granny said, taking the food back from the tester.
“What? That’s surprising,” Amari said.
“That is surprising. What sort of punishment do they even get.” I said, taking another bite of my food.
“They get executed in front of everyone,” Granny said, nonchalantly.
“That’s boring,” I said, disappointed.
“Showing your own soldiers what will happen if they betray their commander is the best way. Do you have a better idea?” She said, tilting her head at me.
“Torture them, of course,” I said lightly.
“We don’t have time to make it a show.”
.....
“You don’t have to do it every time. Just when something major happens like last night’s attack on the mansion.”
“I see. I presume you have an idea for it?”
“I wouldn’t have said anything if I didn’t,” I said, smirking.
Seeing my smirk, she nodded and said. “We can talk about that later. That dagger you threw at me. What was it made of.”
“My ice magic.”
