Chapter 655 Juliana Is Poisoned

Bailey chuckled.

“Ms. Sullivan, one has to be sincere and polite when negotiating. I'm afraid this deal is going nowhere when you

demanded my dead body right off the bat.”

In a low voice, Yvette muttered, “You have a problem with that? Do you really think I won't kill them? You shouldn't

be too confident, or you will suffer dire consequences.”

The grin on Bailey's face widened while a hint of ridicule was audible in her tone. “Will you gain anything from killing

them? I don't think so. I doubt you would do such a meaningless thing, right, Ms. Sullivan? If you would, it only

means I have overestimated you.”

The sound of Yvette gritting her teeth in exasperation came from the other end of the line.

She probably didn't expect Bailey to behave so arrogantly under such circumstances.

Why? I have her weakness tightly in my grasp. Isn't she supposed to humble herself and beg me? Who does she

think she is? How dare she behave so condescendingly?

“Bailey, you'd better not be so arrogant. All I have to do is issue an order to get them both killed.”

Bailey couldn't help snickering.

Was I being too arrogant? I'm merely stating the facts.

“I know you can kill them since they're currently in your hands. I'm not doubting your capabilities. I'm just trying to

say that killing them now won't benefit you in any way. All right, that's enough. Let's stop beating around the bush.

You know that it's impossible for me to hand myself over to you on a silver platter, and I'm aware you won't kill

them just like that, too. After all, they are your only bargaining chip for now. Let's talk it out like grown-ups and

come up with a solution that we both could accept.”

“All right. Since you said so, I will cut to the chase. Come alone to the abandoned factory in the eastern suburbs fifty

miles away from the city three days later. Then, I will let them go. However, if you don't show up or bring a group of

people with you, mark my words, I will show no mercy and kill them immediately.”

Bailey agreed right away without an ounce of hesitation. “Okay, it's a deal then. I will show up alone, and then you

let Justin and Veronique go. Whether you succeed in killing me or not depends on what you've got.”

After ending the call, Bailey met the gazes of Zeke and Edmund which were filled with disapproval. Chuckling, she

said, “Don't look at me like that. No matter what danger lies ahead, I'm doing it no matter what.”

Frowning, Edmund exclaimed, “I can't believe you have the guts to go there alone. Do you not care about your own

safety?”

Slightly amused by his remark, Bailey glanced at him solemnly and said firmly, “Edmund, you're too nervous. Relax,

for I'll be okay. I wouldn't have agreed to go if I'm not confident enough. Do you really think I don't care about my

life at all? I cherish my life now that I have children and someone I love.”

Edmund snorted faintly. “Why are you still acting tough since you cherish your life? Will it kill you to bring one more

person with you? I figure that woman would probably allow it since one more person can't stir up much trouble.”

Bailey was amused by his words.

Is he complaining because I didn't ask Yvette if I could bring him along?

“Edmund, it's too dangerous. I don't want you to endanger yourself. You—”

Edmund leaped up from the couch before she could finish talking.

“I've already made up my mind, so you don't have to try dissuading me. Call that woman again later and tell her

you're bringing another person with you to save Justin and Veronique. I will go with you.”

Bailey pouted, irritated.

He is becoming more and more domineering. The Edmund I used to know wasn't like this. He used to be gentle,

humble, polite, and never as overbearing as he is now.

Zeke tried to relieve the tension by saying, “I think that's better, Bay. Call Yvette again and convince her to let

Edmund go with you. After all, someone has to be there to collect Justin and Veronique. Isn't that so?”

Bailey rolled her eyes in response.

Look at them singing the same tune. How ridiculous.

“Fine, whatever you say. But I think you two are worrying over nothing because I trust that Artemis will arrange

everything well. He won't let me put myself in danger.”

Edmund scoffed. “I can't believe you still trust him when he's with another woman. Is this what you call beauty lies

in the eyes of the beholder? Everything about him is perfect in your eyes, and all the other men who are in love

with you are unlucky.”

Livid, Bailey glared at him and roared, “Why are you getting mad at me? I know you are displeased with Artemis.

Since you're mad at him, why don't you take it out on him? Can you even call yourself a man after raising your

voice at a lady?”

A wry and helpless smile appeared on Zeke's face.

Nevertheless, he was very grateful toward Edmund and Raiden for giving their all to protect his little sister.

Bay is so lucky to be adored by some of the most outstanding men in the world. Although she might be burdened by

the love they shower on her, no one can ever explain the complexities of love. Perhaps falling in love with Bay is a

blissful thing to Edmund and Raiden. Even though their love isn't reciprocated, they still hope to protect her from

the bottom of their hearts.

Meanwhile, in the dungeon of the Hoffman residence, a shrill scream sounded and broke the silence of the night.

“This is bad! Ms. Juliana is poisoned! Get the doctor over and inform Mr. Raymond immediately!”

In an instant, the entire castle descended into a state of chaos.

After half an hour, Juliana was pushed into the infirmary for emergency treatment while many people gathered

outside.

Wearing an ashen expression, Raymond glared at the dungeon guard, who was kneeling on the ground, and raged,

“Why did you poison Juliana's food? Who ordered you to do that? Spill it!”

Hanging his head, the guard replied calmly, “No one told me to do so. I did it of my own accord. Do you still

remember how my parents died, Mr. Raymond? They died in your hands. Who else could I hurt except your

daughter to get my revenge? You? I can never kill you.”

After saying that, he suddenly stuffed the pill between his fingers into his mouth when no one was watching.

Raymond hastily shouted orders, “Stop him!”

However, before the bodyguards at the side could step forward, the guard coughed up a mouthful of blood and

stopped breathing.

“Mr. Raymond, there's no saving him. The poisonous pill has melted in his mouth.”

Fixing his gaze on the guard's dead body for a brief moment, Raymond lifted his head and stared at Philip and

Tucker. His gaze was so piercing it was as if he could see through them.

Frowning slightly, Philip met Raymond's gaze and said in a low voice, “Mr. Raymond, what is the meaning of this?

Why are you looking at us? Do you think we're the ones who poisoned Juliana?”

Flashing a cold smile, Raymond said nonchalantly, “You'd better pray that she and the child in her belly will be fine.

Otherwise, the Hoffman family will face disasters like never before. By then, the family will fall apart, and your son

Tucker will lose his right of inheritance, too.”
