Han took a deep breath to calm himself. He couldn’t get shocked here. He already knew that the people up here would be unbelievably strong so it shouldn’t come as a shock that something like this s possible for them! But even though he already knew they would be strong, he didn’t think that they would be this strong! Han knew he could also destroy a hundred solar systems if he wanted, but he didn’t think he could destroy an entire galaxy just yet! And he can’t do it on a whim like this watcher! That is way too overpowered!
Han looked around again and he still couldn’t get the thought that he knew this place out of his mind! He was sure that he had been here before! Where the hell is this?
“Where is this place? I feel like I’ve been here before. Is it a figment of my imagination?”
“Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Yup, everything here is nothing but your imagination going wild. But instead of a figment, it’s more apt to call it a construct of your imagination. You’re the one that created it after all. My real body is probably going to scare the bejeezus out of you so I always show myself using the memories of the person I’m talking to. Everything here, from the sand to the sea and even this awesome coconut is from a memory of a time when you were on earth. You probably don’t remember, do you? But I do. You were nine and your family all went out to have a good day at the beach. You were with your sister and your parents. It was one of the most enjoyable memories in your life, so I decided to use it. I hope you don’t mind,”
Han immediately remembered the memory when he heard the watched speak about it. He knew this place! It was a beach in City C that he always wanted to go to when he was little! He begged his dad for two days before his dad finally agreed to take them here! He even remembers falling into the water with Rina as they were playing. He couldn’t believe he forgot all of this! But this just shows that the watcher was even more dangerous. He can create taste, smell and even feeling from just a memory!?
Han looked at the white-skinned man and he saw that the watcher was just relaxing and enjoying the view of the ocean. Han finally leaned back and relaxed as well. If the watcher was going to attack him then there is nothing that would have stopped him from doing it a long time ago. Han won’t let his guard down, but he would try to relax a bit more.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe two of them were just there relaxing for a few minutes. The watcher didn’t look like he was interested in moving a muscle for the next year as he lay there and Han almost fell asleep because of how peaceful it was! But then the watcher suddenly spoke up!
“Do you know it was all made for you?”
Han turned and looked at the watcher. What does he mean by that? What was made for me? The watcher waved his hand over the water, but Han could tell that he was talking about more than just the water.
“All of it. From the very beginning. The floors and the people in the temple. The kings and the monsters. Every single thing from the very beginning had been planned out and created for you. This temple was made for you,”
“What do you mean? Why would anyone make this for me? ‘Who’ would make this for me?”
The watcher grinned. His eyes were still closed as he put both hands behind his head and relaxed on them.
“You should know you’re special by now. The king of the binaries gave up his last consciousness to give you power beyond your belief. You were chosen to carry a burden greater than yourself because they knew you could do it. The criteria for entering this floor were simple. Only the one true king of the temple can enter it. That is why Esteroth was not accepted. He was strong, but he broke easily and he gave up on trying after just a few failures. But you didn’t stop. You kept on going even when you didn’t know what was right in front of you. The king of the binaries knew you wouldn’t break or bend under the pressure, and he was right. Look where you are Han. You’re in a construct of your mind speaking to a god in the flesh. You are special. No one else would have been allowed into this floor, No one but you.”
Han understood that what the man said was true. He has been getting a lot of benefits from a lot of very powerful people! Han didn’t even bother to ask the watcher how he knew about the king of the binaries, he just figured that it was one of those things the watcher just knew! But the watcher still hasn’t answered his question. Who would make this for him?
“Who made this temple? And why? I’ve been in this temple for a long time but I’ve never heard about who made it? Was it the celestials? Did they make all this just to watch the mortals fight each other to the death?”
Han was very annoyed as he asked this question. He wanted to know if all of this was just some stupid game! Whoever made this temple put a lot of care into making it! They created each floor differently and they also made sure that everyone had a place they could belong to! It was too perfect! The Celestials wouldn’t create something like this if they just wanted to watch mortals fight! The Celestials are immortal beings and they can watch mortals fight anytime they want, why would they create a temple that is this beautiful and then give the mortals power to fight? It didn’t make sense!
The watcher took another sip from his coconut ash he thought about the question. He didn’t want to reveal too much but he also knew that he had to give Han some answers now! Han has come a long way and he deserved some answers as a reward!
“Well, I can’t tell you who created the Temple. That kind of information is not something I’m allowed to give out. But I can surely tell you that the temple was created to pick out a champion. The person that made this temple wanted one champion from the mortals that would be able to unite all of them into an army. None of the other kings have ever done that, and that is why they could never get to the upper floors. But you did it. You have the system of the king of binaries, so it’s not surprising that you would be the one to do it. I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. You have only been here for a year in human time, right? You’re a very tenacious person, Han Luo,”
The watcher grinned as he spoke and Han could sense a lot of pride behind his words. The watcher said before that he has been watching Han since the beginning, so right now the watcher felt like he was seeing his favorite movie hero in person. Han huffed in annoyance. It was like his entire life was just one fucking tv show to everyone around him.
“What kind of champion did they want to create? You said they wanted to create a champion. What do they need a champion for?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe watcher laughed.
“Oh, I’m sure you already know the answer to that question. But if you want to know more then you’ll have to meet the one that made this temple. You’ll have to go even higher than this. The guy at the top might just know. But I don’t think he’ll talk to you at all. He’s not a people person”
The watcher laughed after saying this and then he stood up and stretched! He enjoyed this beach! The watcher hasn’t met an actual person in a long time so it was fun talking to Han!
Han watched how calm the watcher was and he couldn’t help but be a little uncomfortable. Han came here to pass this floor and get to the next floor. He didn’t have time for all of this.
“How do I get to the next floor? If you’re not going to stop me then I’m going to take your contract of submission and move ahead. I don’t have any more time to stay on the beach when my family is waiting for me,”
The watcher rose a brow in confusion. What the hell is a contract of submission? Han saw the confusion on his face and he immediately looked toward the watcher’s hand! There was no star there! Is this man not a chosen as well!? If he isn’t a chosen then what is he even doing here!? I thought he was one of the chosen traped in the temple!
The watcher had no idea what a contract of submission was. He has never needed a star because he never got a system from the binaries. Even without the system, the watcher is still one of the strongest existences in the cosmos. Why would he need a system from a mere Celestial to give him more power?
The watcher shook his head as he explained that he did not have anything like a system. The system was created to make weaker mortals stronger. An immortal dirty like him would never need such useless things. It would only annoy him down the road. Han could sense the confidence that the watcher had and he knew that the watcher wasn’t lying. Is the system really slowing me down? Han looked down at his hand and frowned at the black star there. He always hated that star. It made him feel like he was cattle that the Celestials branded. But he cannot deny that the star was the only reason he has become so strong. Han is only this strong because of his system.
“Well, if you don’t have a contract of submission then there is a problem. What the hell am I doing here? Why did you allow me to come up here if you would just trap me without giving me anywhere to go?”
Han knew it would be impossible to fight the watcher without losing his body part and probably his life as well, but he could also tell that the watcher had no intention of fighting either. Were they just going to remain like this forever?
