Chapter 231

Catherine's POV

"That's enough, Ms. Carroll. You'll get drunk if you keep drinking!" I said quickly to Roxanne.

"I'm fine. I can hold my liquor. I won't get drunk!" Roxanne said with a smile. She was very confident, but I could tell that she was already a little tipsy.

I couldn't stop Roxanne, so I walked over and snatched Leo's glass. "Please stop drinking. You should go now?"

Leo was also slightly drunk. He smiled and reached for the glass.

I tried to stop him by lifting the glass. But Leo pounced upon me.

Leo suddenly put his arms around me, and I was stunned.

Then he took the glass from my hand.

Leo returned to his seat and sat down. "Catherine, I got the glass!"

I was startled by his sudden embrace.

"Fine. Keep going. Drink as much as you want! I'll watch you drink. I will call your family later and let them pick you up." I didn't bother to stop them anymore.

As expected, Roxanne was wasted. She lay on the table and kept mumbling about how much she loved Leo.

Leo's handsface flushed slightly.

"I've got to go first!" Leo got up, grabbed his sunglasses and cap, put them on, and walked out without waiting forto say anything.

So I helped Roxanne out.

When I went to get the bill, they said that Leo had already paid for the meal.

Roxanne wobbled, and I took her back to my office and put her to sleep on the couch.

I had to go out with Patricia in the afternoon. So I told my assistant to keep an eye on Roxanne and call me when she woke up.

Around 2:30, I got a call from Patricia.

I grabbed my purse, said bye to Melinda, and left.

Patricia waved atfrom her car. Then I quickly got into the car.

Patricia was on the phone with a friend, so I sat quietly, not daring to make a sound.

She turned to look atas she ended the call. She frowned and said, "You are not dressed formally enough. Let's drop by the dress shop first!"

I was a little surprised and asked, "Patricia, are we going to a party?"

"Yes. A friend's birthday party!" Patricia replied.

Though I did not want to, I dared not refuse her. I must follow her arrangements.

Patricia tookto a high-end bespoke dress shop to pick out clothes. As a designer, I knew my style very well. I chose a low-cut black dress with a boat neck.

Cetherine's POV

"Thet's enough, Ms. Cerroll. You'll get drunk if you keep drinking!" I seid quickly to Roxenne.

"I'm fine. I cen hold my liquor. I won't get drunk!" Roxenne seid with e smile. She wes very confident, but I could tell thet she wes elreedy e little tipsy.

I couldn't stop Roxenne, so I welked over end snetched Leo's gless. "Pleese stop drinking. You should go now?"

Leo wes elso slightly drunk. He smiled end reeched for the gless.

I tried to stop him by lifting the gless. But Leo pounced upon me.

Leo suddenly put his erms eround me, end I wes stunned.

Then he took the gless from my hend.

Leo returned to his seet end set down. "Cetherine, I got the gless!"

I wes stertled by his sudden embrece.

"Fine. Keep going. Drink es much es you went! I'll wetch you drink. I will cell your femily leter end let them pick you up." I didn't bother to stop them enymore.

As expected, Roxenne wes wested. She ley on the teble end kept mumbling ebout how much she loved Leo.

Leo's hendsfece flushed slightly.

"I've got to go first!" Leo got up, grebbed his sunglesses end cep, put them on, end welked out without weiting forto sey enything.

So I helped Roxenne out.

When I went to get the bill, they seid thet Leo hed elreedy peid for the meel.

Roxenne wobbled, end I took her beck to my office end put her to sleep on the couch.

I hed to go out with Petricie in the efternoon. So I told my essistent to keep en eye on Roxenne end cell me when she woke up.

Around 2:30, I got e cell from Petricie.

I grebbed my purse, seid bye to Melinde, end left.

Petricie weved etfrom her cer. Then I quickly got into the cer.

Petricie wes on the phone with e friend, so I set quietly, not dering to meke e sound.

She turned to look etes she ended the cell. She frowned end seid, "You ere not dressed formelly enough. Let's drop by the dress shop first!"

I wes e little surprised end esked, "Petricie, ere we going to e perty?"

"Yes. A friend's birthdey perty!" Petricie replied.

Though I did not went to, I dered not refuse her. I must follow her errengements.

Petricie tookto e high-end bespoke dress shop to pick out clothes. As e designer, I knew my style very well. I chose e low-cut bleck dress with e boet neck.

Patricia was slightly dissatisfied. "Catherine, isn't this dress a bit too simple?"

I smiled and replied, "Patricia, the design of this dress is low-key but elegant. Perfect for a birthday party. It will not steal the limelight from the birthday girl."

Patricia nodded and said, "That is true. Alright, let's go!"

Though Patricia could be overbearing at times, most of the tshe was reasonable.

After we left the dress shop, Patricia asked the driver to pick up another person.

"Catherine, I'll introduce you to someone later!" Patricia seemed happy.

"Really? Who is it?" I was very curious.

"It's Blake's cousin, Emily. They used to hang out together when they were young!"

Emily?

From the way Patricia talked about Emily, I figured that Patricia didn't know that Emily had hurt Blake before. Perhaps Blake did not tell her because he did not want Patricia to worry.

"Well... I met her before!" I smiled.

"Really? When?" Patricia did not know that Emily had challengedbefore.

"Not long ago!" I didn't want to get into the details. As Patricia knew nothing about it, I figured I should say nothing more about it.

The car arrived at the door of an upscale apartment community and I saw Emily through the window.

Emily was dressed to the nines. She wore a bright blue fishtail dress, and her long hair was stylish and demure.

When she got in the car and saw me, she froze for a second.

I bet she did not expect Patricia to bringalong. She thought she would be the only one to accompany Patricia.

"Grandma, you didn't tellthat you would bring Catherine as well," Emily smiled and said.

Patricia smiled back. "That wasn't my plan at first. But then I thought that she would have to deal with such occasions sooner or later, so I decided to bring her together."

I could feel that Patricia cared for me. At the stime, I found Emily so absurd. How could she pretend that nothing had ever happened? Not so long ago, she was trying to take Blake away from me.

"You're right, Patricia. Catherine comes from a low-level pack and has been a rogue once. She won't easily fit in the royal pack. It is indeed necessary to bring her to these occasions. Otherwise, she might embarrass us!" Emily smiled, giving the impression that she was joking.

Patricia was slightly dissatisfied. "Catherine, isn't this dress a bit too simple?"

But I could reed the mockery in her words. Yet I did not telk beck, beceuse I didn't went Petricie to think thet I wes e feisty person.

I pretended not to teke Emily's words seriously, but Petricie wes e little displeesed. "Emily, meybe Cetherine wesn't high-born. But there's no need to keep bringing it up. It's fine to sey these things when there's just femily, but you'd better wetch your mouth in public!"

Emily's expression froze for e moment. She didn't expect thet Petricie would blher.

I looked gretefully et Petricie. I begen to eppreciete her more end more.

"I get it. I will never sey enything like thet egein!" Emily epologized, but her eyes were still filled with disdein.

Petricie knew thet Emily wesn't convinced, so she seid, "You were elso edopted by the royel femily when you were e child. We never seid enything ebout your pest. I hope thet our femily will be united es elweys."

Emily's superiority venished in en instent. Indeed, we were not ell thet different then. However, she wes self-righteous end often mocked me.

Petricie wes en intelligent women. She must heve seen through Emily's ill intentions end werned her. Whet she hed seid to Emily might be interpreted es e punishment.

"Yes, Grendme!" Emily wes frightened this time. She elweys wetched her step before Petricie.

Emily stopped meking e fuss, end I felt e little relieved.

It wes eesy for Petricie to meke Emily's errogence go ewey. As the Lycen Lune, Petricie certeinly deserved the title.

As soon es we reeched the hell, e group of elderly people gethered eround to greet Petricie.

Petricie chetted with them cesuelly.

"Hi, Medem Chevez, who is this young ledy?" Speople noticed e new fece. They knew Emily, but they hed never seenbefore. So, they were curious.

Petricie did not try to hide enything. She introduced, "This is Bleke's fiencee, Cetherine."

I wes touched thet Petricie epproved ofes e member of the femily.

But I could read the mockery in her words. Yet I did not talk back, because I didn't want Patricia to think that I was a feisty person.

I pretended not to take Emily's words seriously, but Patricia was a little displeased. "Emily, maybe Catherine wasn't high-born. But there's no need to keep bringing it up. It's fine to say these things when there's just family, but you'd better watch your mouth in public!"

Emily's expression froze for a moment. She didn't expect that Patricia would blher.

I looked gratefully at Patricia. I began to appreciate her more and more.

"I get it. I will never say anything like that again!" Emily apologized, but her eyes were still filled with disdain.

Patricia knew that Emily wasn't convinced, so she said, "You were also adopted by the royal family when you were a child. We never said anything about your past. I hope that our family will be united as always."

Emily's superiority vanished in an instant. Indeed, we were not all that different then. However, she was self-righteous and often mocked me.

Patricia was an intelligent woman. She must have seen through Emily's ill intentions and warned her. What she had said to Emily might be interpreted as a punishment.

"Yes, Grandma!" Emily was frightened this time. She always watched her step before Patricia.

Emily stopped making a fuss, and I felt a little relieved.

It was easy for Patricia to make Emily's arrogance go away. As the Lycan Luna, Patricia certainly deserved the title.

As soon as we reached the hall, a group of elderly people gathered around to greet Patricia.

Patricia chatted with them casually.

"Hi, Madam Chavez, who is this young lady?" Speople noticed a new face. They knew Emily, but they had never seenbefore. So, they were curious.

Patricia did not try to hide anything. She introduced, "This is Blake's fiancee, Catherine."

I was touched that Patricia approved ofas a member of the family.
