"Ugh, that's probably my fastest record of getting paperwork done." Lei Zhen stretched his body as he managed to finish all the documents.
At first, he didn't plan to speedrun it, but the fact that Robert told him about a council meeting commencing in two hours.
It was like a time bomb was placed upon him and he must finish everything before that time limit.
Otherwise, Lei Zhen feared that something else might occur.
A few seconds later, Lei Zhen stood up and fixed his clothes. He glanced at the mirror to make sure his attire was properly arranged before leaving the office and making his way toward the council meeting.
No matter what, he was still a Chancellor, one of the highest ranks possible for a noble besides the duke, which is a rank for royalty.
'Damn, if Robert knew about the matters of me wanting to resign, then wouldn't that mean he also knew about the kiss? And if Robert knew it, then wouldn't Francis know about it as well?'
It was only now that Lei Zhen realized he might face an interrogation instead.
Luckily he always kept a mask on his face. Otherwise, the passing servants right now would have seen him having a pale face.
Francis always treated his daughter lovingly even though some of his methods were extreme. If he knew his beloved daughter went on to kiss him intuitively, then he might go crazy enough to execute him.

Execution to him in the game simply meant he'll need to wait for the cooldown to respawn. It wasn't like he had never died before in the game.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen saw numerous nobles rushing through the door, with some of them even holding a panicked expressions.
They were the lucky ones that had not been captured from the purge, so they were now afraid of being implicated.
After all, being embroiled in the purge would mean death and none of them wished to lose their lives.
"C-Chancellor, wait a minute."
Just when Lei Zhen tried to enter the meeting, he was stopped by a noble, with his expression practically screaming 'please let me go with you' look.
The noble's action was crystal clear and that was he wanted to use Lei Zhen as a shield.
Throughout the purge, the only person that didn't have to worry about anything was the very man that led to the purge itself, and that was Lei Zhen.
Who here wouldn't know that the merits of successfully capturing the black mage belonged to Lei Zhen?
And who here doesn't know the purge commenced because they found out the black mage was sponsored by the very nobles of Yors Castle?
"Sorry, but I have to meet up with Princess Kate at the moment. You should know our princess' temper in the past. Once delayed, she would start raising her sword out to who she deemed as an enemy for delaying this." Lei Zhen calmly said.
ραпdα nᴏνa| сom He quickly threw Kate's name under the bus to frighten the noble and anyone else that tried to use him as a shield.
He was no nanny and none of these nobles even have a good relationship with him. Thus, there was no point in helping them either way.
"I-I see, then I won't bother the Chancellor. Princess Kate's matter must be done first." The noble was clever enough to retreat and leave Lei Zhen alone.
Unwilling to have this occurrence again, Lei Zhen hurriedly entered, only to see the room lighting dim and almost everyone was seated at a round table.
Further into the round table was a throne and another mini-version of the original throne that oversaw the round table from afar. Doesn't take a genius to understand that the two seatings were for Francis and Kate.
'Where am I supposed to sit?' Lei Zhen wondered silently, glancing around the seatings of the round table.
There was no name tag or rank assigned to the seating chairs, so he didn't know which seat to sit in.
Everyone else was silent in the room and he didn't wish to sound like an amateur, standing still for no reason.
Thus, Lei Zhen decided to grab a chair casually to sit on, only to invoke curiosity and surprise from the other nobles.
Meanwhile, Kate and Francis came out from another room at this time and were dumbfounded to see Lei Zhen sitting near the round table.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"C-Chancellor, you don't sit there." Kate laughed awkwardly as she went toward his way and dragged him out.
At the same time, she whispered in his ears, "The nobles today might not be implicated by the purge, but they are under heavy supervision currently. Today's meeting is to have them declare where their loyalties lie, and it's obvious that you don't need to do those."
"Is that so?" Lei Zhen replied awkwardly. "I wasn't even informed about what this meeting is about so it's an honest mistake."
"The council meeting didn't include you since we know you don't like to deal with these political issues. So why did you come here in the first place?" Kate asked in a surprised tone.
Hearing that from Kate, Lei Zhen suddenly had the urge to strangle Robert Knightman since he was once again fooled by him.
"Your personal instructor said I have to come today." Lei Zhen grudgingly replied.
"Eh? Instructor Robert did?" Kate raised an eyebrow in shock.
"Never mind it then, just come stand next to me. The meeting is about to commence, and we're going to discuss some heavy topics, so having you here would be easier." She added.
What else could Lei Zhen say?
A meeting that he wasn't required to attend but was here already, so it would be a waste of time to simply leave.
Not to mention, the things discussed here would most likely be implemented in the next few days so it could be said he would be gaining valuable information.
"Sigh, I really despise your personal instructor more and more."
