I couldn't stay there any longer, so I had to call Yasmine to cpickup.
The two of us were only a few meters apart, but there were four maids in between us. We were like a couple who were on different sides of the river and could only see each other from a distance. She was arguing with Nicholas. To be more accurate, it was a one-sided howl with insults directed at Nicholas.
Given Nicholas' style, I wasn't worried that he would beat a woman up. He had a calm expression and was sitting on the couch gracefully nursing a cup of tea that the maid had handed him.
His gaze moved past the crowd's shoulder and landed right on me. He waited until Yasmine had finished speaking before he uttered three simple words. He said, "She can't leave." It was just a few words, but his tone was sharp and hostile. It deterred others from disobeying him.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtYasmine looked as though she was about to lose her temper. She rolled up her sleeves and was ready to force her way in. Just then, Nicholas' phone suddenly rang. He picked up the call and frowned.
He tilted his head slightly at the very next second. His gaze carried no warmth when he glared at me.
I smiled at him and mouthed, "Just go." I didn't know if Nicholas was too angry or if he was impressed with my scheme, but he actually grinned at me.
Unfortunately, that smile was long gone by the the hung up the call. In a stern tone, he ordered, "Take her back to her room." I knew he wouldn't letleave so easily, so I sent a message to Claudia. I told her to do whatever it took to get her brother to leave.
Claudia didn't wantto spend twith Nicholas, so it was only natural that she was happy to help.
Unfortunately, Yasmine arrived a little too early. If that hadn't been the case, I could have snuck away without anyone knowing.
Yasmine was unaware of that arrangement. She pushed the people barring her path as hard as she could. It only took her a few steps to stand in front ofand shield me.
She turned to Nicholas and roared, "No one is allowed to hurt her." At the end of the day, the maids weren't trained bodyguards. Their job was to keep the place clean. Hence, they had never dealt with a situation like that before. Worse still, their opponent was my friend. That was why everything was a mess for a moment. While everything was unfolding, someone accidentally pushed my back. I fell toward Yasmine and brought her down to the floor with me.
As I fell, the entire world seemed to be moving in slow motion. I could clearly see everybody's expression. Countless hands reached out to me. I could see their teeth and could sense their unspoken worry.
In contrast to everybody else's panic and worry, Nicholas' gaze showed no emotion. He was unmoved.

Yasmine's reaction was quick. She got up right away and held my arm before she pulled hard. Unfortunately, my energy was depleted, and I couldn't sit up at all.
It worried Yasmine so much that her eyes turned red. She knelt besideand was trembling as she held my hand. Her heartbroken scream filled every single inch of the room.
"Ari!"
My mind was temporarily in a trance. It was a blank state accompanied by a soft hum. Aside from the agony in my womb, I couldn't feel anything from any part of my body.
I bit my lower lip mercilessly, hoping to use that pain to wake up my other m senses. Unfortunately, the first thought that cto my mind after I F regained my composure was something that devastated me. Tears rolled down my cheeks without warning. I felt something warm oozing out of my lower parts. My expression was off, and Yasmine sensed that something was wrong. Hence, she turned to Nicholas and roared, "Take Ari to the hospital now!"
My heart was thumping wildly. The spectators were in shock when they saw the look on my face. I could hear them murmuring and discussing the matter. Someone even picked up the phone to call the ambulance. "She simply fell. Why bother going to the hospital?" said Nicholas all of a sudden.
