Chapter 191
Grace’s expression gradually froze as she stared at him in disbelief. Her tone carried a hint of
resentment. “Nick, you don’t believe me?”
Nick chuckled. “Silly girl, I’m just teasing you. Of course, I believe you. But did you or Edgar prepare
this wine? I can’t trust him.”
Grace showed him the empty red wine glass in her hand. “I drank it all. If the wine was tampered with,
it should be me who poured it first.”
Nick remained silent, swaying his wine glass gently without taking a sip.
Grace felt a little unhappy. She grumbled and glanced at the untouched bottle of red wine beside her.
“Is Nick expecting me to drink the whole bottle of red wine like you did last time? Do you trust me that
little?”
Nick stayed silent.
Growing more frustrated, Grace reached for the entire bottle of red wine on the table.
Nick stopped her. “I trust you. Even if your bottle is poisoned, I’ll drink it because you’re a beautiful
poison to me. I’m already addicted.”
With an affectionate smile, he raised his head and finally drank the glass of wine.
In the garden, two of Nick’s loyal subordinates stood by the door like statues. Eleven approached them
proactively.
“Brothers, it’s late, and you two haven’t eaten yet? We secretly grilled some barbecue in the backyard.
Would you like to join us and give it a try?”
The two men wore cold expressions and declined. “No need.”
Eleven remained patient. “Don’t worry, Miss Grace is very friendly. With her around, Mr Knight won’t be
angry. Besides, it’s already dinner time. Considering the relationship between Mr Knight and Miss
Grace, we’ll become one family sooner or later, Let’s get acquainted beforehand.”
This time, the two men hesitated for two seconds, “No need.”
Eleven worried about how to continue persuading them, fearing that his excessive enthusiasm would

raise suspicion.
Twelve hurriedly approached, holding two skewers of roasted pork belly and offering them to Eleven.
“Eleven, tonight’s skewers are delicious. You should try them first. Miss just said that tonight, she and
Mr. Knight won’t hold back. Let’s eat, drink, and have some beer.”
“Alright.”
Eleven took the skewer and ate it in front of the two men.
Few could resist the enticing aroma of grilled pork belly. It was simply delightful!
The fragrance wafted into their nostrils with the breeze. The two men stared at the meat in his hands,
their mouths watering and their bodies trembling slightly.
Eleven continued enthusiastically, “Come on, brothers, let’s go. Mr. Knight will probably stay out late
tonight. Who knows when you’ll get the chance to eat again? There’s some beer in the backyard. Let’s
have a couple of drinks. Mr. Knight won’t make things difficult for you.”
The two men glanced at each other but couldn’t resist the temptation of the skewers. They found

themselves being led to the backyard by their noses.
The meal continued until after ten o’clock in the evening. Nick and Grace had a lively conversation.
Nick’s face was flushed from the alcohol, and his deep blue phoenix eyes grew a bit blurry.
“Grace, I’m truly glad you changed your mind. There’s no other man in this world worthy of you besides
me. We’re a perfect match.”
Grace simply smiled without uttering a word.
Nick looked at her affectionately. “When your mother passed away, I wasn’t mature enough. I failed to
stand up for you and provide you comfort during your most vulnerable moments. You’ve carried that
burden for years, blaming yourself. Can you truly forgive me?”
As Grace brought up the past, her smile turned colder. “Nick, you’re drunk, and you’re starting to talk
nonsense. It’s very late, and it’s time for you to go back.”
Nick wanted to continue explaining, but Grace called Nineteen to assist him into the car.
Since both of his subordinates had consumed some alcohol in the backyard, they were unable to drive.
However, Nineteen, who had only eaten barbecue and remained sober, took the responsibility of
driving Nick and the others back home.
After the military vehicle had completely disappeared from Cloud View Villa, Eleven quietly entered
the villa.
Grace was still sitting in the dining room, her gaze fixed straight ahead. “Miss? Eleven called softly.
Grace snapped out of her thoughts. “How are the two subordinates doing?”
“Don’t worry, the medicine was discreetly added to their drinks. It should take effect soon,” Eleven
reassured her.
“Good. It’s the perfect opportunity to test Edgar’s efficiency.” Grace said, her beautiful eyes gleaming.
The military vehicle was on the road, and due to the late hour, there was minimal traffic. Nineteen
adjusted the air conditioner to a comfortable temperature. Nick’s closest associates had dozed off after
consuming some wine.
Only Nick remained relatively sober, despite his alcohol intake.
Suddenly, Nick pressed a cold gun against the back of Nineteen’s head. “This isn’t the way back to my
place. Where are you taking us?”
His voice carried enough volume to wake up his two subordinates, who immediately became alert.
They glanced out the window and noticed that Nineteen had led them into the countryside.
Tension filled the air inside the car.
Nineteen chuckled nervously. “Did I take a wrong turn? I apologize, Mr. Knight. I saw that everyone was
asleep, so I didn’t want to disturb you. I thought this route would be faster.”
Nick’s expression remained cold. “Turn around.”
“Oh, alright!” Nineteen replied hastily.
The car sped up, but Nineteen didn’t slow down, Instead, he abruptly stomped on the accelerator and
sharply turned the steering wheel.
Except for Nineteen, none of the three individuals in the car were wearing seat belts.
Nick was no exception, and the gun that had been against Nineteen’s head shifted as a result.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Nineteen swiftly applied the brakes, exited the car, and started
running.
Due to their inertia, the remaining three individuals were thrown around inside the vehicle.
However, Nick was the most alert. He glared ruthlessly at Nineteen’s fleeing figure and decisively
pulled the trigger.
A loud bang reverberated through the quiet suburbs,
Nineteen, who had been running ahead, instinctively shielded his head and checked his body. To his
relief, the bullet hadn’t struck him. prompting him to run even faster.
The gunshot had hit the car roof.
Nick, blocked by the sudden appearance of a man emerging from the trunk, shifted his attention.
ส
The trunk of the military vehicle was connected to the back seat, and in their haste, the two cronies had
neglected to check it.
To Nick’s surprise, there was someone hidden in the trunk. He quickly realized that something was
amiss with the dinner tonight and immediately attempted to counterattack the man who extended his
hand from the trunk.
However, before he could retaliate, his gun was swiftly disarmed, leaving him defenseless.
The interior of the car was shrouded in darkness, making it difficult for Nick to identify the person in the
trunk. The other two cronies promptly exited the vehicle to apprehend their assailant.
Suddenly, five or six men emerged from the woods, engaging in a fierce confrontation.
Within a matter of minutes, Nick and his subordinates found their energy depleted. As Grace had been
given a colorless and tasteless anesthetic beforehand, a small dosage left her slightly weakened
instead of causing her to lose consciousness.
The two cronies were beaten to the ground, and Nick himself was struck forcefully from behind,
causing him to collapse on his knees. He looked up and saw the man who had emerged from the trunk,
revealing a familiar face with intricate and unique patterns.
“You… You’re from the National Bureau of Investigation…” Nick uttered, before being interrupted by
Eric’s knife striking him from behind, rendering him unconscious.
