Sean wasn't in Brad's arms anymore. Instead, he walked beside Brad with his arms crossed, occasionally glancing at the lipstick on his father's lips with a look of disdain.
But Brad didn't care. In fact, he was in a great mood. He believed Nadine was smiling because of his efforts, and that was enough to make him feel proud of himself.
As for the judgmental stares? They were none of his concern.
After hearing Sebastian's remarks, he felt no shand actually took pride in his actions. "I'm just making my wife and son smile-what's it to you?" As soon as his words fell, Sebastian's expression twisted in even greater disdain. "Brad, let's get one thing straight. Nadine is your ex-wife, not your wife! And that child isn't yours either!" Back when Nadine was with him, he'd been too blind to cherish her; he'd never even called her his wife. Now that she wanted nothing to do with him, he had the nerve to show up in front of her to get her attention-what a disgrace! Sebastian's words struck a nerve with Brad. The latter fell silent for a long while before regaining his composure and smiling at Sebastian. "An ex-wife was still once my wife!" After saying that, he walked over to Nadine, took the fishing gear from her hands, and loaded it into his trunk. He then opened the car door wide and gestured for her to get in. "Please hop in, Ms. Scott. You promised to takeout to lunch today, remember? You can't go back on your word now." Nadine nodded. Since she had given her word, she had no reason to back out. She gracefully climbed into the car and waved Sean over. The little guy noticed his mom getting into his dad's car, waddled over excitedly, and climbed in. "Hooray, we're off to eat!"
After confirming that Sean was in the car, Brad closed the door and instructed the driver to start them exto engine, Sebastian's anger flared as he watched Nadine get into Brad's car. "We were supposed to have lunch together, Nad! You can't leave without me!" he yelled.
Brad pressed the vehicle's central lock and smiled at Sebastian, who was walking toward them. "sorry, but it's a family outing. I'm afraid there's no room for guests." With that, he revved the engine and took off, leaving Sebastian in a cloud of dust.
By the tSebastian reached the spot where the car had been, it had already driven off, its wheels om churning up dust that coated him in him in grime. He kicked at a stone beneath his foot and growled, "Just you wait, Brad Hamilton! I refuse to believe that Nadine could ever love you again!"
