Davis wondered where the edge of the formation that had suddenly imprisoned him was.
'Or is this an endless maze…?'
He kept walking across the snow, unable to fly. It wasn't like he was unable to fly, but when he stepped into the air, the surface level rose, snow covering his feet as it tried to sink him in. However, it was too bad it was weak to trap him.
It could barely keep him restricted while he tried to find the way out.
Davis was ready to break the formation as soon as he found the edge of the formation so that he wouldn't get trapped again. He didn't want to display his full power either, as it was better to let these heavenly geniuses keep guessing so he knew who to take prisoners in order to make quick wealth.
Those arrogant pricks were sure begging him to take them prisoners. Even now, he had a few in mind on who to take prisoners, but first things were first.
He had to regroup with his people.
Even when facing all these Empyreal Monarchs, that was the only weakness that he had at this point.
The previous worry he felt about being besieged by Empyreal Monarch was also gone with the blooming of his Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique. Even if they used tactics to exhaust his martial might and soul might, his essence prowess would make sure everyone around him turned to dust.
The only time he nearly displayed his full power was when he unleashed a combination of annihilative heavenly lightning and annihilative heavenly flame, an annihilative firestorm at those miscreants for demeaning his Lea in the hidden temple, but he imagined that those fellows couldn't sense its prowess in that short time.
Therefore, he knew they hadn't seen the depth of his prowess, causing them to not know they were courting death by still trying to hunt him, but it was all good since he was still distracting them from going towards his people, giving them more time to leave the region.
"…"
The Mistwalker Family's Empyreal Monarch's brows twitched as he saw this scene from the skies. He recognized that the trapping formation at the peak of Mid-Stage Monarch Grade didn't seem to have affected Davis in any way.
He was also standing within the trapping formation, but he was at one of the nodes where harm didn't befall him. In his hand was the unconscious Lest Mistwalker hanging like a dead corpse, but he shook his head, waking up with a piercing headache that made him tremble.
"Fuck…"
Lest Mistwalker cursed like he had a hangover as he woke up and hung in the air, still feeling the aftereffects.
He received injuries to his soul with his two rings robbed from him. After all, the Emperor of Death severed the connection and further suppressed him into fainting for ten whole seconds. If it was a battle, he knew he would already be dead, never to wake up.
Panning his gaze, he wanted to know the situation when suddenly a palm hit his head.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Ouch! What was that for?"
He turned to look behind and saw his little sister tear up.
"Idiot. I thought you were dead!"
"…"
Lest Mistwalker went speechless as he saw his little sister was about to cry. She threw herself on him and embraced him, causing him to gawk.
"You brother and sister can go flirt by the side since you're weak and wouldn't prove to be any useful here."
Abruptly, a white-robed woman walked over, appearing like an immortal fairy as she flicked her sleeve at them. Her graceful movements attracted Lest Mistwalker, causing him to stand up from his little sister's embrace and stand in attention.
"Senior sister Layla, I know I'm miserable by losing the treasure, but I urge us all to leave. He's an Anarchic Divergent we can't afford-"
"Lest Mistwalker, that's enough." The male Mistwalker Family's Empyreal Monarch interrupted in a cold tone, "You're a coward who couldn't even protect the treasure you found with your life or even manage to hide it from the others. You're a failure that our Mistwalker Family doesn't need."
"You bas-"
The little sister's eyes turned hostile as she was just about to cause a scene when Lest Mistwalker hurriedly grabbed her face and shut her mouth.
"Senior Lambert, I have soulscoured many immortals, and from their memories, I know-"
"I said that's enough!"
Lambert Mistwalker roared at Lest Mistwalker, causing the latter to shut up.
At this moment, he saw every Empyreal Monarch from other powers gather around them, after which Lambert Mistwalker cupped his hands towards them and opened his mouth.
"Everyone, this Anarchic Divergent is too powerful. Clearly, he's also a Fiend, a monster that we need to kill. Let's join hands to get rid of this calamity in the brewing."
"What's our chances?"
Someone got straight to the point.
It was none other than the other Empyreal Monarch from the Azure Dragon Upper Realm.
"Very small…"
"First of all, what is that strange energy he used to suppress us?" Liam Moonsmile asked.
"I think it's nirvanic energy. Perhaps, a bit different than it called the reincarnation energy..." Layla Mistwalker narrowed her eyes.
"No way…"
Everyone expressed their disbelief.
"The fusion of life and death gives birth to reincarnation?" Taus Serpenzal from the Emperor Cobra Upper Realm blinked.
"I think so."
Layla Mistwalker nodded.
The others couldn't help but believe her as they knew she was extremely knowledgeable. Not only had she learned about formations and spirit formations, but she had also comprehended the Phyletic Law of Formations, which was something that they wouldn't even think of.
Actually, they knew she was the one who laid the foundation to entrap the Emperor of Death here in a few brief moments while Lambert Mistwalker activated it. Their teamwork caused many heavenly geniuses to simply be trapped before they were played to death if they didn't surrender.
"If that's the case, subduing him would prove to be impossible, and killing him will be daunting, for he has a body that's probably tempered by chaotic energy…"
Pence Atlas's expression was somber, causing the others to not know what to say.
"Perhaps, if the Seven-Colored Phoenix Upper Realm Skytune Clan's geniuses were with us, we might be able to kill him. After all, their own souls are nirvanic in nature and could possess resistance against his mysterious energy."
Liam Moonsmile shrugged, "Isn't that right, Riaz Heavenshade?"
"Then we can only exhaust him."
Riaz Heavenshade sighed, invoking a gloomy atmosphere.
They all inwardly agreed that the Emperor of Death was probably the strongest if not one of the most powerful Anarchic Divergents to have ever come into existence if he could take all of them and still survive to live the tale, much less when he has effortlessly suppressed them all with his ridiculously oppressive soul force.
His mysterious iridescent energy was like it was the bane of souls, leaving them unable to defend against it even while using their blood essence that some of them had to burn their soul essence or use defensive soul talismans found in their time here.
It left them way more exhausted by the pitiful amount of energy they expended.
Even the two Hexadra Clan's Empyreal Monarchs who ambushed him were dealt a huge blow, one captured while the other had completely left the area, fearing that he would be killed.
"Ridiculous…"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmRath Heavenshade harrumphed. He looked somber, panning his gaze over before stopping on Lest Mistwalker.
"First of all, does he really have the Celestial Luminescence Pill?"
"What's this? Are you trying to make excuses for losing?" Taus Serpenzal sneered.
"What's there to make an excuse?" Rath Heavenshade sneered, "I know I am a disgrace to the Azure Dragon Upper Realm's glorious name. Criticize me all you want and if you dare, but it would not change the fact that the Galaxy is going to laugh once they hear that the strongest Empyreal Monarchs gathered together in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm have ganged up on an Anarchic Divergent in order to take him down. Pfft~ Ahahaha!~"
Rath Heavenshade burst out laughing, causing the ears of the Empyreal Monarchs to ring painfully as he was basically saying that they were cowards who couldn't face the Emperor of Death alone as he did.
Lambert Mistwalker lightly shook his head.
Despite being an Empyreal Monarch, albeit unable to compare to the likes of Rath Heavenshade or even Liam Moonsmile, he was a formation expert. He didn't like to fight one-on-one anyway, but he turned to look at Lest Mistwalker.
"Go on. Answer his question."
Lest Mistwalker was put in the spotlight; he could see their faces, which were full of curiosity- no, suspicion.
Did he really have the treasure?
Lest Mistwalker couldn't help but gulp, wondering if he should tell the truth or just let them believe the Celestial Luminescence Pill had been stolen.
"What's wrong? Say it."
Lambert Mistwalker appeared to be losing patience with this junior brother of his, but then his little sister, Lyra Mistwalker, came between them and displayed a middle finger, causing him to harrumph and look away, knowing that Lest Mistwalker might be a failure but his little sister was just brain dead as she didn't even know who not to offend all because their power doted on her and Layla because they had comprehended Phyletic Law of Alchemy and Formation respectively.
"Everyone, the truth is…"
Suddenly, Lest Mistwalker opened his mouth, his tone and stiff movements causing the others to clench their fists.
Did the Emperor of Death not have the Celestial Luminescence Pill, and it was all a show to confuse them to let the true finder of the Celestial Luminescence Pill escape?
Looking again, they saw that one of the five Mistwalkers wasn't present, causing anger to swell in their hearts, but an explosion went in their minds when Lest Mistwalker broke the vase.
"… Not only had he stolen a Celestial Luminescence Pill, but he also stole an Autarch Grade Forgeheart Peak Upper Realm's inheritance, likely from the legendary person who made this realm concoction possible. Perhaps it also has the instructions on how to conc-."
"What?"
The forgemasters of all the powers listening to them suddenly lost their minds as their jaws dropped.
"You imbecile! How could you lose it!?" roared Lambert Mistwalker, causing Lest Mistwalker to shut his mouth, his expression no longer sorry for losing it, appearing like he had enough.
"Fuck you! I got it with my luck, and I'm free to throw it away as I please! I'm out!"
