Looking at Seylin Blizzara thoroughly becoming incensed, Davis couldn't help but smilingly shake his head.
"Who told you to act so high and mighty as though everyone was beneath you? Only you can tease them and not the other way around? I think that's a bit hypocritical for a mischievous woman like you. Don't you think so?"
Seylin Blizzara trembled as she glared at him. But a few moments later, she calmed down- at least, she looked like it because her red pupils were no longer dilated. Her body kept shaking, especially her right leg, which was fraught with death energy at this moment.
"Fine. I admit defeat. Can you heal me now?"
"There's nothing to heal."
Davis waved his hand, causing Seylin Blizzara to frown heavily. She had given so many concessions and didn't keep her pride above her life but was still met with a no? Just as she stood up, intending to take action, she suddenly sensed the death energy in her right leg starting to dissipate.
She was shocked to sense that it was no longer spreading like a plague but behaving like it had lost its source. What's more, each strand of death energy that dispersed gave birth to a strange energy that restored a bit of her vitality, making her stunned.
Just what kind of technique was this? Seylin Blizzara raised her head to stare at Davis.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"It's a curse technique that uses one's vitality to grow but restores it in small amounts when dispersed?"
"You could say that..."
Davis lightly nodded, a bit surprised that Seylin Blizzara managed to figure out the workings. However, she didn't seem like she found the intricacies, which made him proud. After all, this was one of his new death energy techniques he derived based on his insights from Life and Karma Laws.
It wasn't to be mistaken with combination, but merely parts of these two Laws were used to fuel Death Law's obscurity and terrifying capability.
He had seen Evelynn's Hex Laws many times and almost witnessed Malediction Laws from Myria's fated enemy, not to mention Schleya's Blood Pledge Arts that made use of blood to bind its opponents, similar to the karmic binding. Obtaining inspiration from how their powers worked, he tried to devise a deathly curse that was unique to himself and had initial success in it.
Feeling greedy, he even tried to include his Life Laws' insights in it and was successful after a few hundred tries!
Many failures only brought him forwards and paved a path for this technique and a few more.
Now, he only needed to implant this deathly curse on his target, and that enemy would more or less die within a few minutes unless they could break the seal he placed on them.
However, with death energy rapidly spreading on initial contact and cementing itself on the source that it was even present after severing the place of curse, he knew that it was further difficult to break unless they were a few levels higher than him.
However, he knew he had to work on this technique as it took time to cast it. Three seconds were too long, and he felt like he needed to perfect it more to be able to work on powerful people.
In the distance, Mystic Diviner Hailac rose up from the viscous lake and looked at Davis in shock. She had just seen the carcass of the Unfettered Ice Fiend and witnessed his short battle with Seylin Blizzara, but that told her in-depth details that she needed to know about Davis' Death Laws.
She finally confirmed that he could actually use Karma Laws when she heard their exchange. As a matter of doubt, it otherwise didn't make sense to her how he killed the Unfettered Ice Fiend when it was deep underwater.
On second thought, she considered that death-attributed wolf making a move, but there wasn't even a single injury on that Unfettered Ice Fiend's carcass, making her deeply astonished. She felt that she was going crazy as she couldn't believe the notion that the Emperor of Death could also use Karma Laws.
After all, he had already displayed his ability to use Light Laws, which stood in direct opposition to Death Laws. Taking a step back as these two Laws weren't directly opposite to each other, they had even heard him using Darkness Laws, so Mystic Diviner Hailac was completely befuddled by his existence.
Just how many controversies he embodied... she couldn't tell.
"...!"
Suddenly, Davis turned around and winked at her, causing Mystic Diviner Hailac to look away as she shivered.
"..."
Davis became speechless as he saw her reaction. He was a bit taken aback as his intent wasn't to scare her but make her think that he was a big shot in using Karma Laws when he was not. He wished that, as a result, she would be more sincere in teaching Tia in the future, but instead, she appeared to be scared of him...?
Nonetheless, after dispersing the work in progress, unnamed technique on Seylin Blizzara and realizing its uses in actual combat, he turned around and looked at the Silver Rain Ice Spirit.
"Fellow disciple Kayla. As per the agreement you exchanged with my Tanya, you will get twenty percent of the root while you share sixty percent of the Mercurial Metal Ice Pearl with us."
Kayla's icy eyes relaxed while her perked-up breasts deflated as she heaved a breath.
"Thank you for honoring the agreement. You are as reasonable as you claim to be."
Without still caring for his body, Davis lightly nodded and began to exchange with Kayla.
While everyone targeted the Pearl Root, she managed to snatch the Mercurial Metal Ice Pearl on the surface as the former was more important but together, they made for a formidable treasure that would allow an ice-attribute cultivator to advance leaps and bounds and much less an ice spirit.
On the other hand, true disciples like the Tyriels, Olas Windfall, and Waine Might were no longer interfering, not even with their mouths.
Everyone had just witnessed the Emperor of Death's true strength right now, remaining silent as a cub. They all thought that they could take them on if they so wished, but now, they had just witnessed the reality, unable to understand how a Level Seven Immortal could possibly cause a Level Nine Immortal supreme genius like Seylin Blizzara to give up this easily.
Was it because she was caught off-guard by his superior death energy, or was he just too powerful?
