James explained, "Calvin said he's been having issues with obsessive fans. He suspects someone has installed surveillance in his home." Chloe raised an eyebrow. "So?" James continued, "So he wants you to check if there's any surveillance in his house and, if possible, trace it back to the perpetrator." "Sorry, I'm not interested," Chloe replied curtly.
James was taken aback, unsure why Chloe seemed so antagonistic.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCalvin was also surprised. Although he was annoyed when Chloe approached him earlier, he hadn't forgotten her face because of her striking appearance.
Calvin hadn't realized she was the expert James had been talking about. He thought, "Doesn't that mean I just offended her?" Calvin said, "Ms. Nelson, I've heard great things about you. I know you're an expert in this field, so I'd appreciate your help. Nyour price, and we can negotiate." Chloe didn't even glance at him. Instead, she addressed James. "This is a trivial matter, hardly a project. Do you really think I'd take it on?" If it hadn't been for the way Calvin had humiliated her earlier, she might have considered it. But fate had a funny way of working things out. Calvin had offended her, and now he needed her help.
James understood her point but knew Calvin was a rising star at Bright Moon Entertainment. The company had invested heavily in him because of his talent and potential.
Dealing with obsessive fans was a serious matter, and as the boss, James couldn't just ignore it. Chloe was his best option.
After hearing her out, James made a gesture. "How about this price?" Chloe shook her head. "Even if you multiplied the offer by ten, I wouldn't agree." She knew there were plenty of capable people in the Security Department at Bright Moon International. She wasn't the only one who could handle this. Finding a hidden camera was just a simple matter. There was no need for her involvement.
Realizing Chloe's resistance likely stemmed from their earlier encounter, Calvin decided to change his approach. He looked at Chloe sincerely and apologized. "Ms. Nelson, I deeply apologize for what happened earlier. I didn't realize you were with Mr. Dale. I'm truly sorry." However, hearing his apology only made Chloe more convinced she was right to refuse. "You still don't get it. The issue isn't that you should apologize because I'm associated with James. You should apologize because you were being arrogant and disrespectful." Seeing Calvin's slightly stunned expression, Chloe continued, "But it doesn't matter. After today, we won't have any further interactions. Go ahead and be the way you are. It has nothing to do with me." With that, Chloe turned and walked away, leaving James somewhat confused. "What had just happened?" he thought. James looked at Calvin. "Did you offend her?" Calvin grimaced. How was he supposed to know Chloe was connected to James? If he had known, he definitely wouldn't have spoken to her that way. He would have done anything she asked, even spend the night with her if necessary.

Taking a sip of the juice, Chloe replied, "Didn't you hear mœearlier? | said he was being arrogant."
While many celebrities had slevel of ego, Calvin's attitude was simply too much. "James, you need to be more discerning when signing artists. If they can't even maintain their public image, your company is m the one that suffers." James felt unfairly scolded and protested, "All the artists at Bright Moon International were signed before I got here. How is that my fault?" Being a soldier, he didn't know much about managing celebrities. Chloe waved her hand. "I'm just giving you a heads-up."
James leaned against the railing and downed his whiskey, "Why hasn'th Smith contactedlately? Have you En.
been in touch with him?" Chloe stiffened, gripping her glass tightly in a reflex.
