A Clear Death
Jiang City First People’s Hospital.
Lin Qingqian was only exhausted. She was given some water and something to eat to replenish her strength. She would be fine after resting for a day or two. The more troublesome one was Jiang Yanshen.
In order to save Lin Qingqian, he had allowed his arm to be smashed by the burning tree trunk and it’d burned a layer of skin off him, revealing charred flesh. The rotten flesh had to be removed before medicine could be applied.
The doctor had given him very little anesthetic, so when they removed the burnt flesh, he could still feel the pain. However, although Jiang Yanshen’s deep and cold face was covered in sweat like a waterfall and his pale thin lips were pursed tightly, he did not make a sound.
He looked at Lin Qingqian from the corner of his eye the entire time. She was sitting by the wall, her hand holding the disposable cup was trembling.

For a moment, her emotions were complicated. On one hand, it was because he had sacrificed himself to save her at the most dangerous moment. This was something she had not expected. On the other hand, if he had not chased her to Jiang City, she would not have to run up the mountain in the middle of the night.
The guilt in her heart instantly lessened.
After the doctor finished applying the medicine on Jiang Yanshen’s arm, he wrapped the wound in a bandage and instructed, “You have to apply the medicine three times a day. Don’t let it get wet. You’ll be fine after the new skin grows out.”
Jiang Yanshen’s pursed thin lips relaxed and he nodded indifferently.
The doctor looked at Lin Qingqian again. “Go back and take good care of him. Don’t let him eat spicy food. If the two of you have anything to say, talk it out. It’s so dangerous to run out in the middle of the night. You’re lucky to have run into the firefighters this time.”
Lin Qingqian felt that he had misunderstood and was about to explain when Jiang Yanshen suddenly stood up and said in a slightly hoarse voice, “Let’s go.”
There were two people standing at the office door. One was Song Qin, the secretary of the Tianyue Secretariat, who could be considered Jiang Yanshen’s right arm. The other was Lu Yuan, who had followed him over. He looked miserable and aggrieved as he looked at Jiang Yanshen.
Song Qin: “Director Jiang, are you returning to Lan City or resting here for the night?”
Jiang Yanshen frowned and thought for a moment. “Back to Lan City.”
Song Qin said, “I’ll arrange the car now.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she turned around and glanced at Lu Yuan. With the pride of a winner, she left in a hurry.
Jiang Yanshen glanced at Lu Yuan, who was like a block of wood. “Why are you still here?”
Lu Yuan was about to cry. “Director, I, what did I do wrong? Why did you punish me to go to England?”

Jiang Yanshen looked at him with a gaze that clearly said—irredeemable.
Lu Yuan did not understand, but Lin Qingqian understood the situation immediately. It was because he had been tricked by her.
“I stole your itinerary. Lu Yuan doesn’t know.” Lin Qingqian thought for a moment and decided to plead on Lu Yuan’s behalf. After all, Lu Yuan had treated her well in the past, unlike the others who always had a disdainful and mocking attitude.
Lu Yuan’s eyes widened, and his mouth was wide enough to fit a duck egg. He looked at Lin Qingqian in disbelief—Madam, I trusted you so much, but you actually tricked me like this! Where’s the trust between people?
Lin Qingqian also felt a little apologetic in her heart. He was implicated by her.
“Just vent your anger on me. Why vent your anger on innocent people?”
She was talking to Jiang Yanshen. Her voice was soft, probably because she was weak.
“Heh.” Jiang Yanshen pursed his pale thin lips, and a cold light appeared in his dark eyes. He lowered his head and approached her, his voice so cold that it made one shudder—
