When Lu Lian ran towards Ming Rushneg, Wen Zac also came out of the corridor, walking slowly, unwilling to follow where Lu Lian's left. He was the one to tell her to go.
Ming Lan saw him and hurried to go towards him. She just had witnessed how her brother was hurt and didn't even stop when Lu Lian went to him. It showed that things were late to recover, but she still had little hope of doing everything right for her brother.
She stood facing Wen Zac, blocking his way.
He gave her a questioning look, and before he could ask anything, she spoke, "I will marry you, brother Wen."
Wen Zac looked at her as if he heard something wrong, and she repeated. "Just tell me when we have to get married, and I will be there," she repeated in a hurry.
Still, Wen Zac was calm as he looked at her teary and panicked face and said after a pause as if he was talking to himself, "Should I feel happy that my wait is over, or should I feel sad that you love your brother too much to do anything for him."
Panicked, Ming Lan couldn't understand what he meant, and after getting the last line, she said, "I can do anything for my brother. Also, If we marry, it will solve everyone's problems. You can fulfill your grandma's wish, and Lu Lian and my brother will be together."
"What about us?" he asked.
It puzzled her. 'Wasn't he just asking for marriage for his grandma's sake? Why suddenly this question?' she thought. "Just as I said, we will get married," she replied.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt was not what Wen Zac wished to hear and could only laugh at himself. 'Only if she wished to marry me out of love for me. Even after knowing I liked her, how can she act so casually as if nothing happened? Do my feelings hold no value to her even if she doesn't love me?'
"Let Lian go," she said again. "She won't be happy with you. She loves my brother."
Wen Zac smiled lightly, but it was painful, and his eyes showed he was hurt.
Seeing him like this, Ming Lan thought, 'Does he really like Lian a lot? But Lian doesn't like him that way.' She took a deep breath and said, "Though you like her, she doesn't like you. So it's better to let her go. I will marry you, and I won't go back on my words."
Wen Zac could only look at her calmly and had nothing to say about it. "It's late. You should return home," he said and turned to leave.
"Didn't you ask me that day to marry you? When I am saying I will marry you, what is the issue?" she sounded desperate, but that desperation was for her brother's sake.
"I don't need charity." Saying Wen Zac left, not looking at her even once.
Ming Lan couldn't understand his attitude. All she wanted was to help her brother.
Ming Lan went to Lu Lian, who was still rooted in her place in a daze even though Ming Rusheng was gone.
"It's late, Lian," Ming Lan said.
Lu Lian looked at Ming Lan, not knowing what to say, knowing how much Ming Lan admired her brother, and now he was hurt because of her.
"LanLan...that...I am sorry…" Lu Lian said.
Ming Lan knew what happened between her brother and Lu Lian, so she couldn't blame her for pushing her brother away but said only something, "Even if you hate my brother for his mistakes, you could have pushed him in another way by staying away from him. Using his best friend for this is what you did wrong. But I still don't blame you as I understand your anger towards my brother."
"I can never be with him," Lu Lian said as she wiped her tears.
"That's your call but stop doing what you are doing unless you really want to marry brother Wen," Ming Lan said.
'Marry Wen Zac. Yes, this is what I planned, but why does it seem so hard now?' Lu Lian thought but still said, "I can't marry your brother, so he will anyway be hurt when I marry someone else. My family once chose Mr. Wen for me, so I will marry him."
"Then don't worry about my brother even if he is hurt or whatever. I will handle him," Ming Lan said.
"I will keep that in mind," Lu Lian said, as she could understand Ming Lan was right.
"We should leave now," Ming Lan instructed.
"Lanlan, it won't affect our friendship, right?" Lu Lian asked.

Lu Lian immediately hugged Ming Lan, "Thank you," her voice was choked, and tears didn't stop rolling from them.
Ming Lan, who herself was in a chaotic condition that she couldn't tell anyone, patted Lu Lian's back to console her as her own eyes were teary too.
Soon after, Wen Zac's car arrived there to get Lu Lian. She had come there with Wen Zac, so it was given she would return with him. Wen Zac sat quietly in his car to let the two ladies finish their talk.
Ming Lan looked at Wen Zac, who sat in the back passenger seat, but he didn't look at her even once. This man didn't seem to agree to it when she said she would marry him. 'What more he wants now?' Ming Lan thought.
"How are you going?" Lu Lian asked her.
Ming Lan looked back at her, "Brother's car is here. He left without it."
It worried Lu Lian, and all she could think was where he must have gone. 'Must be to his hotel.'
"You should leave?" Ming Lan instructed.
Lu Lian sat in Wen Zac's car and left.
Though Wen Zac didn't show, he was worried about how Ming Lan would return home as Ming Rusheng was gone, but he had seen Ming Rusheng's car parked even after Ming Rusheng was left, and he already instructed Ming Rushneg's driver to get Ming Lan.
Ming Rusheng's car arrived there, and Ming Lan too sat inside and left. She wondered if she should go to her brother but then thought, 'He won't like it. I should give him some time alone.'
Her mind was filled with so many questions- how she would stop Wen Zac or make him agree to marry her. Even if she managed to stop him, will Lu Lian go back to her brother, or will she agree to marry someone else? If so, then what will happen to her brother?
