167 Peculiar Metal
The world masters were not shocked by their companion’s death, in the few seconds they were distracted by the fragments of the axe they already realized their mistakes and were already on guard, it’s a pity that Layton’s attack gave them no time to salvage their companion, they could only retaliate in anger and fear. Numerous attacks flew Layton’s way, some were laser blasts from technological weapons, and most were energy attacks caused by the fusion of cold weapons and law exertion to form a long-range effect, Layton moved as swiftly as he could most attacks executed by world masters of the stage had a hint of spatial effects which meant they were difficult to fully dodge. Moving erratically in space Layton managed to dodge most of the attacks, the rest that he couldn’t perfectly avoid resulted in leaving him with no visible injuries, suddenly the nature of the attacks changed and he couldn’t avoid them as easily as before.
‘They noticed quickly’ Layton mused as he sent punches forward using attack as a means of defence, his opponents had already noticed a feature of Layton, due to his ever present biomagnetic field brought by virtue of his unique physique all incoming objects and attacks were naturally skewered to the right a feat made possible by a combination of his subtle grasp of space and the slight continuous movement of his biomagnetic field which keeps his body in a peculiar and highly desirable state.
Layton quickly grew bored of this back and forth and decided to get serious, a low hum echoed from his body like a huge engine had been revived, a tinge of red appeared in his eyes as he gave a slight smile before rocketing towards his opponents.
About 2 minutes later tattered corpses dotted the blank dark emptiness that was space, Layton was virtually spotless and unharmed, the blood that would have otherwise stuck onto his physique had been evaporated by his high speed movements, the only flaw in his being was that his left eye was gone the hole which it resided in normally now empty devoid of its familiar fleshy organ. If one looked closely one could see a thin needle-like object fixed in place by a peculiar force, lodged in the empty eye socket that his left eye once resided. Layton did not seem fazed by his injuries with a calm face he left the battlefield that could now be called a slaughterhouse and flew back to his space ship that was motionless and cloaked some miles away. Entering the familiar empty hall of his ship Layton’s palm moved to his empty eye socket and drew out the metal object lodged in it, with the object’s absence, granulations of flesh quickly appeared rapidly merging with each other and forming the familiar biological structure that was his left eye. holding the silver metal in one hand Layton fiddled with his seat bringing out from a hidden compartment a peculiar metal badge engraved with a picture of a coliseum, with a flick of his fingers the badge flew across the hall and accurately inserted itself in a fitting slot on the control deck of the ship.
‘Coordinates received’ the cold voice of the ship’s artificial intelligence rang out as the ship slowly left the vicinity of the planet and headed deeper into the darkness of space. Layton ignored the scene and turned his attention back to the silver metal in his hands, it seemed to be able to become material and incorporeal at will it was the peculiarity of this object coupled with his carelessness that enabled the weapon to disregard his bio-magnetic field defence and almost caused him to suffer a serious injury. The attack if successfully inflicted on another world master who did not possess special means would cost them their life, if not then it would cause them to permanently lose their eye, the weapon came with a peculiar one-time law imprint, it was the law of darkness specifically the branch of devour. The imprint made it that wherever the attack hit, it would attract darkness to permanently devour it making it lost forever in all sense, whether physical or spiritual, meaning no amount of healing would make it regenerate, even if it did regenerate it would just be for aesthetics unable to function. Layton was able to escape this fate because of his peculiar physique, his body was such that its structure, molecular makeup and information were being deposited into his genes at every second, and his bio-magnetic field made sure this information circulated not only in his body but in the space his biomagnetic field operated in. in simple terms the weapon exited the law of darkness and covered its target the covered target was then swallowed by the darkness figuratively and physically, the targets physical form, its illusory meaning and all parts of information symbolizing the target that existed in the genes were also removed and devoured by the darkness. Normally unless an individual possessed a profound law of darkness could one theoretically scour the dark and retrieve the swallowed information but Layton’s physique possessed a backup, the biomagnetic field his body automatically exudes serves as a sort of backup server keeping information on his growth and genes, it was through these that Layton replanted the swallowed information and grew back his missing visual organ.
It wasn’t the operation of the one time law attack inscribed on the weapon that caught Layton’s interest, instead, it was the physical attribute of the needle to become incorporeal and physical, the reason he kept the needle in his body previously was ,to further analyze its properties and the results were surprising, he finally got a glimpse of what the plane will had used the information contained in the domain he had inscribed for, the metal didn’t simply change through spatial level alteration or trasform to a sort of energy form instead it became as incorporeal as one’s will was, it was because of this level of change that it managed to easily bypass his biomagnetic field. This miraculous change in the state of matter was one Layton had not really thought of before, it was incredible that the plane will managed to evolve a miraculous metal through the exchange of laws and information that had occurred with his domain inscription. Layton was full of excitement thinking of the amount of foreign travelers that also came to this plane and probably inscribed their domain, the changes brought by their actions was definitely something to look forward to.
