Chapter 154 Who Do You Want to Do These With?
Josephine’s heart clenched, and her breath caught as she looked at the person standing in the
doorway. Unconsciously, her fingers tightened around Seth’s arm.
“Are you trying to squeeze me to death?” Seth whispered.
Snapping out of her daze, she swiftly flung his arm away and stepped to the side, putting distance
between them.
Seth smiled angrily at this. “You’re such an idiot.” He then looked at Lewis, who was standing in the
doorway, and said, “What a coincidence to see you here, President Alvarez.”
Lewis acted as though Josephine wasn’t there as he strode up to Seth and looked indifferently at him.
“It’s not. I was waiting for you here.”
Seth laughed. “And what if I didn’t show up? Were you going to just abandon her?”
Lewis didn’t respond and merely stared coldly at Seth. However, his silence pierced Josephine’s heart,
fuelling a torrent of questions. Had he been aware she was there all this time and what those men had
intended for her? She studied his face intently, yearning for an explanation, yet his lips remained tightly
sealed. 1.
The room was quiet for the longest time. “Take him away,” was all Lewis said before he turned and left
without looking back. She stared after his cold figure and could feel her heart fall into a deep, dark
abyss. Two bodyguards briskly entered, grabbed hold of Seth, and escorted him out after taking away
his gun. Seth didn’t resist at all and allowed himself to be taken. They left in a flash, leaving Josephine
alone in the private room, staring blankly at the doorway without any idea what to do.
She had come here full of worry in search of him, yet he had only used her as bait. She stood there
doubting herself for the longest time. She questioned the veracity of the night’s events and wondered
who was the man who had jumped off the cliff after her. Her thoughts were a mess, and she felt a faint,

Josephine held her head and slowly squatted down amid the room’s disarray. He had discarded her
here just like trash. She stayed on the floor for some time before the pain in her skull slowly ebbed. She
placed her hand on the table and stood up with much effort before dragging her heavy legs towards the
exit. Stepping outside of Magic Cube, a brisk gust of wind brushed against her, offering a cooling
respite and a moment of mental clarity.
“Madam.” Conrad’s voice came from beside her.
She looked wearily at him and opened her mouth before slowly closing it again.
“Please get in the car. President Alvarez has instructed me to send you home.” He gestured towards
the car by the road.

She quietly sat in the car with her head lowered. Conrad brought her back to Styx Mansion and walked
her to the door. He then turned to leave after reminding her to lock the door when he suddenly felt his
sleeve being tugged.
Surprised, he turned back to see it was Josephine. “Is there something else, Madam?”
Her face was obscured by her messy hair as she lowered her head. It was a while later before she
raised her head and typed a message on her phone. It read, “Will he…come back tonight?”
He was at a sudden loss for words as he stared at her phone. “I think it’s better if you ask him yourself,
Madam. I’m not sure either.”
She typed, “Then what’s going to happen to Seth?”
His brows furrowed, and he looked as though he wished he hadn’t been asked that question. “I don’t
know. You can ask President Alvarez that too,” he replied, pushing all responsibility onto Lewis to avoid
saying the wrong thing.
Josephine became pensive, and upon seeing that she wasn’t going to ask anything else, Conrad
turned and left the villa. She sat on the couch in a daze and stared habitually at the clock on the wall.
She would wish to herself that Lewis would walk right through the door with each tick of the second
hand, but more often than not, he never did..
It was past midnight when she thought of her notebook. Opening it, she began recording the past
again. She used to be able to recall the past clearly, so it would be a shame if she were to forget all
those precious memories. She also had a lot of things she still wished to do, and she didn’t know if she
would remember them all once she lost all her memories in the future. She
curled up on the couch and began writing when she suddenly heard footsteps come from behind her.
Her head snapped up in surprise, and she was greeted with a familiar face before. her. She tried to
discreetly place the notebook behind her to hide it, but she naturally couldn’t fool Lewis and only drew
more attention to it by doing so.
He held his hand out to her, demanding, “Hand it over.”
Her grip tightened on the notebook behind her back.
He wore a black coat, and his suit underneath was black as well. His dress shirt was a shimmery gray
color. He stood out even more under the light since he was dressed completely
in such dark shades.
Staring down at her from above, he spoke again. “What could you possibly be hiding from me that I’m
not allowed to see?”
Josephine shook her head.
His eyes darkened, and he extended his slender fingers to her face. “Hand it over.”
Her palms were sweaty from nervousness as she gripped the book tightly. There were things she had
written that should never be read by others, especially him. However, before she could

think of a good excuse, Lewis leaned down, held her shoulder with one hand, and snatched the book
from behind her with his other hand. Her expression immediately turned frantic, and she stood up to
grab it back. However, the difference in their height was too great as he was able to block her with one

Her eyes widened, and she gave up trying to take it back the moment he flipped it open, as he would
have already seen everything. There was a subtle change in his expression, and he glanced at her
briefly. She lowered her head in embarrassment.
“I want to fly a kite,” he plainly read from the notebook. His calm tone was magnetic and didn’t give
away any emotion. It made her want to crawl into a hole in the ground,
“I want to visit the tulip field. I want an obedient Golden Retriever. I also want to go on a hot
air balloon ride…”
Josephine couldn’t bear to listen any longer. Although seemingly trivial to him, these items on her
bucket list held deep significance to her. His emotionless reading felt like a sarcastic and humiliating
mockery. She didn’t have any grand ambitions, so these were the simple joys she wanted and had
happily written down, even if they seemed like mere trifle things. What she was feeling now was no
different than being forced to streak down a busy street.
It also made her recall how Daphne had once read aloud from her diary and how everyone had
laughed at her for writing about a hair clip. They only knew how to make fun of her for her small
worldview, but little did they know that she hadn’t written about the hair clip because it was beautiful but
because…it was a gift from Lewis.
She held onto Lewis‘ arm and shook it, begging him to stop. He did and looked at her.

Closing the book, he held it up in front of her and said, “How is it that I didn’t know had so many things
on your bucket list? Who do you want to do these with?”
Faced with his sudden questioning, she stepped back, but he stepped forward and maintained. the
distance between them. She fell onto the couch.
“Is it with Avery? Or could it be with Seth?”
