Chapter 209  Suggesting Of Betterment

A couple minutes later, Arthur reached the Adventurers guild where Val had been waiting for him.

The girl seemed to be listening to a few NPC adventurers talking on one of the tables. Arthur who saw this couldn't help but smile.

'Guess she took the lesson to heart.' He thought.

Yesterday he had taught her to listen to the NPCs as well as interact with them in order to obtain information for the future and more. And she had clearly learned that now.

Even in her free time she could do it and since she was merely waiting for Arthur she did exactly that.

'She even picked the right targets.' Arthur thought as the NPC adventurers still knew more than the players for the most part.

Arthur observed her for a few seconds before finally announcing his presence.

"Hello there!"

"Ah! Arzhur!" Val shook and turned around seeing Arthur standing there.

"Guess you still need to improve your spatial awareness." Arthur replied before taking a seat. "It is important to pay attention to one's surroundings to prevent oneself from being ambushed." He explained.

"Ohhh, but don't I need a skill for that?" Val asked.

"Not necessarily." Arthur shook his head. "It is like you and archery. Since you've practiced it in the real world, you clearly know how things work and have the instincts for it. A skill isn't always necessary to know something." He further clarified.

"I see… but then doesn't this mean that if I know something from the real world or try to learn it here, I can develop it into a skill?" She asked, making Arthur's eyes light up.

'She certainly picks up on things quickly.' Arthur thought. "You are correct." He nodded, making Val turn pink with joy.

"So one can learn skills on their own too?" Val asked for details.

"The short answer is yes. But they also need to put a lot of effort into it. The better they are at using it in the real world, the better chances they would have at using it in the game." He answered.

"Hmm… I wonder how much I can apply to archery now." Val muttered to herself.

Here Arthur felt like he had another rare opportunity to present and advantage to her.

"Since you're already proficient in archery from the real world practice, I would suggest you to try adding doing things you normally wouldn't in the real world.

Something that would push your physical limits or something that is simply unthinkable in reality." Arthur advised.

Hearing that, Val's face became serious as a lot of thoughts poured into her mind. She thought deeply about what was limiting her in the real world and realized that it was her own body.

'But here I can run faster and longer. I can pull greater weights as well as use magical energies…' A certain thought formed in Val's mind as she wondered just how far she could take things.

Arthur let her think for a while before she was ready to speak. He wasn't in a hurry and there was still time till his expected meeting with Rain.

"I think… I know what to use the Small Plant core for." Val suddenly spoke.

"You wanted to use it for a bow right?" Arthur asked.

"Not just a bow." Val shook her head. "A GREAT BOW!" she said raising her arms in grandeur.

"A Great bow huh…" Arthur looked at the girl's size and then tried to imagine her using a weapon that would be even bigger than her body.

"I've seen them in many other games and have always wanted to try using them. But of course, I cannot use them in the real world, so this I the only way I can do that." Val explained. "It had been a dream of mine, which I thought would be simply impossible until now."

"Hmm… it isn't impossible, but you would still need to get it custom made." Arthur replied. "And the plant core wouldn't be enough. You'll also need strong materials for the two limbs and grip."

"I know." Val nodded her head. "Which is why I wish to make it a goal of finding the needed materials for it."

"I see…" Arthur could see the determination in her eyes and didn't mind it. 'If anything, this is good and will boost her chances.'

"I know I'll need a lot of coins for this, so I guess I will need to do a lot of quests." Val said, her smile staying stable.

wavering.

"That is true." Arthur replied. "But today, we cannot do quests together." He finally revealed.

"We can't?" Val showed a hint of disappointment, her smile wavering.

"I have some other work to do." Arthur stated. "Though there is a thing you can do in that time. It will also net you some decent amount of coins. But it is quite labor intensive." He explained.

"What is it?" Val didn't mind doing something like that.

She had already agreed to help out Arthur after all. And now that he was telling her about something that would be helping her in the end, there was no way she could deny it.

"You'll be a loot porter." Arthur revealed.

"Huh?" Val tilted her head in confusion.

"I have a few corpses that are lying in the Trunel Woods. They belong to several mobs which I could not loot and collect due to some constraints. I'll point them out to you and you just have to bring them back to town. Of course, it has been a while since I killed them, so not all of them might be present.

It is up to you to find and harvest them." Arthur explained the situation.

Val furrowed her brows but did not back down.

"Alright, I'll try." Val responded. "Even if I don't find any, I can just take it as a hunting trip to get more experience." She added.

"That's the spirit." Arthur was pleased. "Now then, this is the path that you need to look around."

Arthur spent ten minutes in charting out a rough map for Val. Thankfully he had followed a relatively 'straight' route and as such it shouldn't be hard for Val to find them.

Of course, the corpses that were left in the outer areas were probably taken by the other players or eaten by the beasts the ones on the inner parts should still be left behind.

For a normal player though, this path would not make sense as they didn't have the skill of naturally navigating a forest. Plus there was the threat of the strong beasts and as such not many would go into the depths.

Val had an advantage here as she was already level 13 being stronger than most players.

At the very least she would be able to escape when needed. Archers were relatively more agile than most other classes with the exception of the thieves.

Plus with the sharper eyesight of Val, Arthur didn't think she should have any issues.

'Even if she does die, she does not need to worry about the penalty as much. She can afford to die, I cannot.' Arthur reckoned.

Arthur did not wish for his game avatar to die until a certain point. He had a goal in his mind that he was determined to obtain at any costs. It was a goal that would improve his abilities by a decent amount in the future.

"Are you gonna leave now?" Val asked.

"Yeah, I best head out." Arthur said before standing up. "You can message me if you have some issues."

"Okay, thanks for your suggestion. I'll try my best." Val nodded her head and got up as well.

The two of them parted their ways at the guild entrance, with Val going towards the Trunel Woods while Arthur went to a certain location.

He went to one of the deeper parts of the town, where mostly the residents lived.

Since this was a pure NPC living area, most players didn't have things to do here as they just thought of it as a template location. Plus the NPCs here were also rude to them, or just ignored them.

Which was also for a good reason since one wouldn't like strangers coming into their areas and doing strange things or just asking questions and bothering them.

Arthur had picked this location intentionally and his target was also waiting here.

A few NPCs were passing through an unassuming alley when Arthur joined behind them. His expression was neutral and he kept on walking without doing much.

To most other player, he would simply look like a NPC adventurer.

Of course, the player that he was going to meet was not just any other player.

A certain person stood against a wall, waiting for Arthur without knowing how he looked. His eyes spotted the rather strange person who was the only person wearing an armor coming in the crowd.

'Is that him?' Rain wondered before he used his skill.
