"There is still a lot that we don't know, so we are working a lot behind the scenes," Luke said. "We need to work together with as many people as possible that aren't siding with them."
"As long as I get some intel in exchange, I won't mind on helping," Jake said. "Still, following your orders is the last thing that I want."
Jake still felt complicated in working with those guys even like that, but since he was going to earn something in exchange, the annoyance was acceptable. He just had to be patient and work harder to make sure that he won't have to do that often... he wanted some benefits by doing that, but he wouldn't do that forever. Everything in moderation was the key for a good life, after all.
"At least you are honest and easy to negotiate with," Luke said. "Anyway, we might need to talk with you now and then, so we will use Telepathy. Don't get so angry when she talks inside your head. I can see that you are the type who would."
"Maybe I should move again…" Jake said.
"Come on… How unsocial can you be?" Luke asked.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLuke was almost surprised about that, one could only be like that for so long under those conditions. Still, it seemed that Jake wanted to test his limits by working the way he wanted. Nevertheless, he decided to change the topic. One that greatly interested Luke as well.
"Speaking of which, if you hear something about a guy called Justin having joined their ranks, you should tell me as soon as possible."
"Someone from Earth that you want to beat badly?" Luke asked.
"Possibly," Jake replied. "Anyway, I am done here, so I will return to my base."
Luke nodded, and then Jake used the system to return to his base. He had a few things to consider, but he might as well think about it while he hunts. The only problem that he didn't know was if he should select a new mission for that or if he just should hunt some Grizzlies. Since he had to level up Dark Blade, Jake decided to get some of their pelts. It was a bit time-consuming, but he could make a lot of coins while hunting them and selling their materials in that world. Jake also wanted to have as many shurikens as possible.
"From what I can tell, the number of people coming to that game because of the rumors of people disappearing will only increase. That instigates more curiosity than fear, after all," Jake thought. "With that in mind, the ranks of those assholes will keep increasing for a while until we wipe them out all at once, but they are too careful to let such an opportunity fall on our hands."
They were a bunch of assholes that deserved more than a serious beating, but Jake could only feel annoyed at their caution level. In any case, after a couple of hours, Jake reached the entrance of the dungeon and then accessed the dungeon stop. Thanks to selling the materials, he had recovered all the coins he used to buy the armor and his sword. He didn't need any new gear now. So, he wondered how he should spend it.
"The list of equipment updated, but… I can't see many things useful for me here," Jake thought.
Jake needed to find a way to make his coins help him in the long run. The best way he could think of now was by randomly buying equipment and then getting new classes, but that would be too time-consuming. Perhaps he should buy that kind of intel from Luke. He used to sell that kind of information in the tutorial, after all.
"In any case, it is safe to eat this meat after I used so much poison on these guys?" Jake wondered while he was skinning the grizzlies.
Jake was about to master his crossbow. Thanks to that new weapon, he managed to kill the grizzlies without breaking a sweat, not like he cold sweat in such a cold environment. Nevertheless, while it was convenient, that kind of weapon didn't suit him. It also couldn't work well with his main skills… but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep it as a sub-weapon.

When Jake mastered the weapon, he received that message. As expected, he didn't feel that good about getting skills and classes that didn't help him become better at fighting at close range. He wondered why he disliked fighting at a distance and magic so much. It wasn't like he had many bad experiences playing other games. His dislike of those things was a bit too weird…
"I wonder if it is related to those dreams… Come think of it, never guy used magic or long ranged attacks that weren't based on sword skills," Jake thought.
Jake couldn't feel himself losing control of his body. It wasn't like he had moments where he went completely berserk, either. So, everything still felt pretty weird. It was a pain to think about that since he couldn't ask people randomly, and there weren't many people that also felt weird for Jake. Luke and Frederick seemed a bit weird but in a different way.
"What is going on… Isn't there some kind of Sage at the top of a mountain that I can answer all my questions?" Jake asked.
It would be convenient if that were the case, but it wasn't. So, he could only keep moving…
