Chapter 943 No Matter What
After shopping for nearly an hour, Jenny and Stephanie finally decided to go home to rest.
Vincent drove a car over for Alec, who then decided to drive Jenny home. Jenny was about
to ask if he could drop Stephanie off at home, too, when her friend refused.
Jenny instantly guessed that Stephanie might be trying to give Paul a chance to prove
himself again.
"Go on home first. I can have him drive me." It's not like Paul would bite, right?
So, Jenny left with Alec, deciding not to butt in with her friend's decisions.
After the two left, Stephanie turned to Paul and said, ’I'll get a cab. Why don't you go back
first?"
Ultimately, she still decided against having more connections to the man.

things go sour between them during the day. Did she have to do so right now too?
Stephanie stared emotionlessly at Paul. "I thought I made myself clear, Paul Wagner. Why
won't you just let me go?"
She no longer wanted to have anything to do with him. In fact, she no longer found herself
as interested in him as she used to be.
"Let you go? Who the hell can stop me from feeling what I feel then?!" Paul cried painfully.
He didn't like being so gentle, yet he also didn't want Stephanie to hate him. But what

"It's not like that, S—"
"I just really don't want to be in a relationship right now, Paul. I just want to focus on my
job and strengthen my family. Can you let me do that in peace? Please?" Stephanie’s tone
grew soft as if she were really trying to get this point across to Paul.
As much as Paul didn't want to accept it, he could only sigh and nod." Okay. I'll stop my
advances.’
"Thank you."
"But can we at least work together in business?" Paul immediately suggested, leaving
Stephanie speechless.
"My company is very interested in working together with yours on that project you're
managing. What do you think about a joint venture?"
Stephanie wrung her hands together. She had been looking for a business partner for a
while, and Wagner Group was an ideal match, i

bet. I'm sure you're well aware of it."
Stephanie observed his expression, no longer seeing any amorous hints in those eyes as if
Paul had suddenly become a whole different person.
"Okay." She nodded. Maybe purely business relations with Paul were the best option.
On the other hand, Alec and Jenny were on their way back to their apartments.
"Here. I got this for you." Jenny gave Alec a gift box, having bought it earlier at the mall
after thinking it might suit him.
Alec beamed. "Thank you. I love it."
"But you didn't even look..." Jenny narrowed her eyes.
"I love it no matter what it is." Only then did Alec open the box to look inside.
