Chapter 1009 You Can Save the Explanation
Soon, her hair was blown dry. Alec then asked, "Have you had dinner?"
"Not yet." She'd just come home from the hospital, and all she'd wanted was a shower and
good sleep. She hadn't been getting good rest these few days.
"I'll make something for you." Alec got up, wanting to go into the kitchen.
Jenny grabbed him quickly. "There's no need. There aren't a lot of ingredients here. Let's
just order takeout."
She could smell the alcohol on Alec. He'd just come home and had to be exhausted. She
couldn't bear to let him cook for her.
"That's fine too." Alec did not insist on cooking. He was actually feeling dizzy, but that
didn't stop him from cooking for her if needed.
They went back to the living room, and Alec shut her door, saying, "You should be more

dangerous."
"Okay." Jenny nodded. She wasn't this careless before. She was probably too exhausted to
notice. She was debating with herself whether to let Alec know. His mood would be
affected if she told him, but he'd find out sooner or later anyway.
While she was still considering it, Alec noticed something was off with her. "What's up?
Has something happened to Evan?"
"No. He's just like before," she replied.
"You look preoccupied." Alec trusted his instincts. Jenny was acting weird.
She thought about it for a while and said, "I'm going to move to Evan's house tomorrow so
that it'll be easier to take care of him."
At once, the air turned cold. Alec's gaze changed as well.
"I'm sorry. I have to...’
"I know. You can save the explanation," Alec interrupted. He smiled a bit." You have the
freedom to do whatever you want. I have no right to say anything."
He could perhaps object to it if she were his girlfriend, but she wasn't.
"I'm only going to take care of him. I have no other intentions, Alec," Jenny said, explaining
anyway.
Unfortunately, her words failed to comfort Alec at all. "Yeah, you're just going to take care
of him. Like, forever." What was the difference between that and marrying Evan outright?
Maybe just the marriage certificate.
Jenny said nothing. She knew that all was lost; Alec was feeling upset now.
"By the way, the doctor I found is coming to Bardoff City tomorrow. You can let him take a
look at Evan. Maybe he has hope after all." Alec didn't want to let go of a single

"Alright. I'll let him know." Jenny nodded. She wanted Evan to recover as well.
They fell into silence again. It was even more oppressive than before.
The doorbell rang, and Alec went to the door to get the food. He carried it to the living
room and opened it, placing it in front of Jenny. "Here, eat something before going to
sleep."
"Alright. Let's eat together," she said.
He didn't refuse. No one knew if they would have a chance to eat together like that again.
He had to treasure it.
Why was his heart feeling so bad?
They ate in silence. Occasionally, Alec gave her the food on his plate, and she thanked
him. Besides that, there were no other sounds. It was so quiet as if no one was around.
He didn't like it at all, but he didn't know what he could say to make things better.
Thus, the silence carried on.
