‘I think you’ve been left hanging,‘ Storm mocks me as I let my cock go and put my feet on the floor. I

can’t disagree with Storm, I told Eva to come back almost an hour ago and she’s still not here, clearly

we need to have a conversation about who is in charge around here. It takes me some effort but I

manage to get to my feet, putting on my joggers and t- shirt is another matter. By the time I’m dressed I

can feel myself sweating from the effort it took.

‘Why is this taking so long to heal?‘ I ask Storm as I look down at my shoes, ‘guess it’s barefoot today.‘

There is just no way I’m bending down to put socks and shoes on.

‘I’m working on it, there was a lot of damage and whatever was in those bullets weakened me as well

as hurt you.‘ I can hear the

annoyance in Storm’s voice, he doesn’t like being vulnerable anymore than I do.

After some serious difficulty I manage to hobble my way up the stairs, I make my way into the kitchen

to see Sally putting the finishing. touches to some meat sandwiches.

“Well, I didn’t think I’d see you up here until tomorrow.” Sally is all smiles as she wipes her hands on

her apron and rushes around the bench to pull a chair out for me, “coffee?”

“Please, have you seen Eva?” I look around the kitchen and don’t see a single other soul, I guess we

really did lose quite a few of our warriors.

“She went off with Rowan to settle Eric into the cottage, if you asked she told me to tell you she’s fine

and won’t be alone with him.” Sally chuckles as she brings me my coffee, “I honestly don’t think you

have anything to worry about, she adores you.” Sally pats my hand in a motherly way before walking

off to look in a cupboard.

“And Heath? Have you seen him around? He didnt come and see me when I woke up.” Sure I could

contact him by the Pack link but sometimes it’s nice to have an actual conversation and it’s been a

hard, I wince at the cracking sound it makes against the counter, getting up from the counter I look out

signs of Heath.

“No one mentioned a captor to me.” I can help but feel annoyed that my Beta and mate have kept this

from me.

“You only woke up a few days ago, Cas, give them some time to catch. you up. Maybe they just didn’t

want to flood you with information.” Sally says with a hint of sadness in her voice, “losing that many and

then you being seriously hurt has affected a lot of people in the Pack, just give them time.” I nod my

head without really paying attention to her, if the Pack wants to see I am alright then I need to go about

my Alpha duties as normal which means I need to visit the cell block.



“If Eva asks, tell her I’ll be back shortly.” I shout over my shoulder as I walk through the back door,

closing it behind me I hobble down the porch steps. Thanks to the bullet wound to my thigh, steps are

rather tricky as it means I have to put all of my weight on the leg so I can

“Alpha? Anything I can do for you?” Francis’s voice catches me before I’m even halfway across the

garden, from the kitchen window I hadn’t realised it was him standing guard.

“Grab the door for me.” I tell him as I lean against the wall with one hand and try to catch my breath,

after weeks of doing nothing just a simple walk across the garden has proved almost too much for me.

“You sure Alpha? You don’t look so good.” I just nod my head and Francis opens the door for me

without asking any more questions, “he has him just a few cells in, he didn’t want Mary walking all the

way down if she came to see him.” I don’t say anything as I walk into the cell block, I let the smell of

blood, urine and sweat wash over me. I notice the smell of John is almost gone which means Rowan or

Heath released him when I was down and out.

“Alpha, I didn’t expect you for a few days yet.” Heath jumps up for the chair he was sitting on just

outside of a cell, I notice he has blood on his hands and his clothes are covered in even more blood.

“Been busy?” I nod at his clothes as I walk along the corridor to see a rogue chained to a chair in the

middle of one of the cells. His eyes. trace me as I walk over to the chair Heath was sitting in, the gag in

his mouth stops him from asking any questions.



“Been trying to figure out who sent this fucker to kill nine of my brothers and an innocent pup. He’s not

said anything yet but he will.” Heat sounds pissed off and I can’t say I blame him, becoming a warrior

you get close to the guys you serve with and our Pack is no different. As Heath said, it is a brotherhood

and they treat each other as such.

“He not said anything?” I can see the blood dripping from the rogue’s fingertips so he’s obviously been

recently worked over.

“He said he’s not a rogue, sure smells like one though.” I furrow my brow, if he’s not a rogue then who

the hell is he

“Take the gag off, I have some questions.” I lean back in the chair and watch the guy flinch as Heath

takes the gag out his mouth, I understand why when he steps away. It seems the rogue is missing

some teeth and his nose looks like it’s been broken, realigned and then broken again.

“I was pretty pissed off and with you down I had nothing better to do with my time.” Heath doesn’t even

sound apologetic as he shrugs his shoulders and then leans against the cell bars.

“So a you and a group of your brothers just took it upon yourselves to around, might as well get straight

down to it. “You were well organised, never seen rogues travel in more than three or four and definitely

not that kind of organised.”

“Not a damn rogue.” The guy’s voice is deep and rough, it sounds like talking is causing him some

“So if you’re not a rogue, then you must be

Pack?” Shifting in the chair I try to hide that of a Pack. Which

discomfort I’m in but Heath’s worried glances makes me think I’m not doing such a good job.

“They killed our Alpha and our Luna, we don’t have a Pack anymore, they own us.” I look at Heath and

he just shrugs his shoulders, he has no idea who he’s talking about.

“How about an introduction then, this is Heath, Head Warrior for Everfur Pack and I’m Alpha Castiel.

Your turn, I keep my voice firm but I have to say I feel for this guy, if he is Pack and he lost his Alpha

and Luna then he must be in pain.

“Mitch Stephenson, Head Warrior for the South Moon Pack.” I sit forward in my chair, Mitch’s tone has

dropped and I can hear the sadness for the loss of his Pack. As Head Warrior it would have been his

job to save its members after his Alpha and Luna fell.

“South Moon, I ain’t ever heard of them.” I look at Heath and shake my head, I’ve heard of them.



“I’m sorry about your Alpha and Luna, to be betrayed by your Beta,“2 1 shake my head and look at the

floor. “I can’t even imagine but why attack us?” South Moon’s attack was all the talk about six years

ago, it’s members scattered and it became a story. Until now I just assumed they had all gone to

different Packs.

“It was my job to protect them so when they approached us it sounded like a good idea, a way to keep

the Pack together but it didn’t quite work out like that.” Mitch looks at me with sad bloodshot eyes, “I’m

no Alpha, I couldn’t order them to do anything. I stayed to try and protect. them but most rolled into the

life, others got lost to the drugs. I don’t even think they noticed when the females started not coming

back to the bunks.” Mitch swallows hard as he tries to control his emotions, “they want your Luna.

She’s a shifter and fertile so they want her. I didn’t tell them she’s an Omega but it’s only a matter of

time before they figure it out.

“Who wants her?” Heath asks confused but the hairs on my body have already gone on end, Fraction

was right, they have come for my Angel.

“The Shalamayne.” Me and Mitch say at the same time, my eyes. connect with him as I just nod my

head. He’s given me and heads up and I’m not going to waste it.
