Chapter 600
“Really? Which one did you have back then?” As Lucas spoke, he opened his bag and let Rosalie have a look at all
the Transformers in it.
Rosalie took a gander at those toys, only to find that there were a plethora of them sitting inside instead of only a
few. At first glance, there were at least a dozen of them.
Nevertheless, Rosalie did find one that she used to own-Bumblebee.
“This is what I got last time.” Rosalie beheld the Bumblebee model in her hands, and a trace of nostalgia flashed
through her
eyes.
“I’ll let you have it, then,” commented Lucas.
“But isn’t this for Aiden?” said Rosalie.
“There’s so many more left for Aiden. It won’t make a difference. You can keep this one as a souvenir.” said Lucas.
Speaking of souvenirs, Rosalie gazed at the Bumblebee model in her hands, recalling how she had begged her
grandmother Wilma for it back when she yearned to have it as a toy. At that time, she did not have much concept
of money, much less learn that Wilma had to fork out her savings after living a frugal lifestyle.
Thinking of Wilma, Rosalie was touched, triggering her soft spot for the old lady. “Well, thank you.” She smiled
gently and accepted that Bumblebee model.
That also elicited a grin from Lucas. Considering that the woman was willing to accept his gift, even if he knew that
things would never work out for them, he was still happy deep down.
They exchanged smiles, but little did they notice that on the floor above the inpatient department, a pair of eyes
were staring at the scene condescendingly.

In the past few days, Rosalie would almost always run into Fiona every time she paid a visit. Yet, at that juncture,
Fiona appeared to be gloating right at her face.
“Hey, Rosalie, you seemed to be having a good time chatting with a lad downstairs today. Who’s that? Is he a friend
of yours?. Did he happen to send you here today?” piped up Fiona.
Rosalie swept a chilly glance at that woman. “He’s just one of my ex-colleagues. We bumped into each other here
by coincidence.”
“What a coincidence…” Fiona deliberately drawled her voice, but such an elongation would only allude to a feeling
of intimacy.
“So? What are you trying to say, Fiona?” Rosalie pressed the matter.
“I… I’m not trying to say anything. It’s just that I think you must be quite close with that colleague of yours.” said
Fiona. Then came Rosalie’s uncouth retort. “Must I be ill-mannered with all my ex-colleagues, feign ignorance, or
even attack them with vicious words when I meet them? I wonder how you’d greet your ex-schoolmates, other
actors, and the staff in the film crew when you all meet up, Fiona.”
Her round of lectures stumped Fiona, and not a peep came from the latter. Zipping her lips with shame was all she
did. Even so, there was still a tinge of mischievousness flitting across her eyes.
Rosalie could not care less to pay Fiona any more heed as she turned to Calvin. “Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah, I’m better now. I can get out of bed already. Would you mind skinning me an apple, though?” said Calvin.
“Not a problem,” said Rosalie. That time around, Fiona hurriedly chimed in, “Calvin, why don’t I help you with that
apple? Rosalie could use a breather.”
“Could
you check for me if my examination report is out, Fiona?” was Calvin’s request,
“For an errand like that, he simply needs to ring the bell to summon a nurse!” Fiona thought to herself, knowing that
he was obviously kicking her out of the ward and only wanted to spend time alone with Rosalie.
Time and again, he had been treating her the same way.
With that, Fiona stepped out of the ward in a huff. Rosalie, in turn, sat by the bed with an apple and a fruit knife,
paring off the apple for Calvin.
“You met your ex-colleague downstairs today?” Calvin asked nonchalantly.
“Mm. You met that guy before. Remember Lucas? He was that guy you saw came looking for me when I was in a fix
at the film studio.” Facing Calvin’s probing, Rosalie answered ever so casually, not putting up any guard at all.
“That Lucas, huh?” Calvin pondered, his eyes glinting. He still rethembered that Lucas was a nervous wreck when
Rosalie
went missing that time. He reckoned that with that amount of anxiety, Lucas must be interested in Rosalie.
“I do remember. He was worried sick about you, too, that day,” uttered Calvin placidly.
“He’s really a nice person.” Unwittingly, Rosalie curled her lips upward into a faint smile as she thought about Lucas
coming to the hospital to bring the Transformers models to Aiden. Never would she anticipate Lucas to stash those
old-time Transformers toys in such mint conditions.
Although brand-new Transformers toys had been constantly coming out on the market, the old-time Transformers
in Lucas’ possession were probably no longer available for sale at present. Rosalie figured that Aiden must be
thrilled upon clapping his eyes on the toys.
It showed how much effort Lucas had poured in.
“A nice person, you say?” Calvin arched a brow slightly, and a sour sensation gradually spread throughout his heart.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe began to guess if Lucas was the reason for the smile on Rosalie’s face.
“Yeah, he’s quite nice. Not only is he honest and kind, but he also doesn’t judge people. It’s actually a good thing to
be friends with someone like him. Nowadays, people like him are scarce.” said Rosalie.
Rosalie admired the qualities Lucas had within. Even though she did not have a thing for that man, she still hoped
for nothing but the best for him.
Back when those working at the Environment and Sanitation Administration ratted out her history of being behind
bars, many people became judgemental of her. However, only Lucas treated her without bias, not minding an
ounce of her past.
Barely any average folks could do that.
Only after experiencing those frustrations and being treated differently could she start to cherish such rare
kindness.
Rosalie handed the apple to Calvin, who took it but did not eat it immediately.
“Why aren’t you eating?” Rosalie questioned.
“I’m thinking… I rarely hear you commend anyone for being nice. It seems that this Lucas must really be a nice
guy.” Calvin replied.
“Indeed, he is. It’s a pity…” said Rosalie.
“What is it?” Calvin pried deeper.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” Rosalie shook her head and gently lowered her gaze. In her book, it was unfortunate that Lucas
seemed to have misplaced his feelings for her. Then again, she presumed that Lucas must have let it go already.
Rosalie rose to her feet, all ready to put the fruit knife back on the coffee table. Alas, the second she sprang up, the
Bumblebee toy fell out of her pocket and landed on Calvin’s hospital bed.
She reached out for it, but Calvin was one step ahead of her in grabbing the toy. “What’s this…”
“An old-time Transformers toy, Lucas gave this to me as a souvenir when we met today.” As she spoke, she took
Bumblebee back from the man’s hand and gazed at it with a gent visage.
