Chapter 578

Jonathan, who was not too far away, paused when he heard Rosalie’s name being called out. He turned and looked

in the direction of Rosalie and Lillian.

Carlos, who was standing next to Jonathan, heard it as well. He glanced over before hurriedly turning to Jonathan.

But all Jonathan did was stare indifferently at Rosalie as she lay on the ground. His face remained impassive.

“Let’s go,” he said nonchalantly, walking down the hill.

Since Rosalie fell not too far from the stairs, Jonathan would have to walk past Rosalie if he wanted to leave.

At that moment, all the visitors who were outside had entered the palace.

Rosalie looked up subconsciously when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.

She saw a figure slowly approaching her.

“It’s Jonathan,” she thought.

She raised her head and looked at him in a daze.

But unlike the beautiful, fleeting moment when he left the hall, she could now clearly see his features as he

approached her.

His face remained cold and delicate, but his expression was different now. It lacked the tenderness he used to have

when she was with him, and it wasn’t as broken as it was when she left the house.

There was nothing but indifference in his gaze. He didn’t even spare her a glance, as if he was completely over her.

As he walked past her, Rosalie suddenly trembled. Nevertheless, Jonathan never spared her a glance.

“Rosalie, are you okay?” Lillian rushed over to help Rosalie up.

“I’m fine.” Rosalie shook her head, bent down, and gently brushed the dust off her.

She caught another glimpse of Jonathan walking down the stairs from the corner of her eye.

That figure belonged to Strico’s most unapproachable man. However, she remembered how that man had once

knelt before her and said he would give her everything.

Nonetheless, she was the one who had pushed him away. She had knelt on the ground and begged him to let her

go.

Hence, they had nothing to do with each other anymore.

“Isn’t this what I wanted? But why do I feel so bitter now that I’ve got what I wanted?” she thought.

“Since we can get in from here, let’s go inside,” Rosalie suggested, taking a deep breath and walking toward the

hall.

Lillian sighed and looked back at Jonathan, who was already on his way, surrounded by his bodyguards. She hit her

head in frustration.

If she had known Jonathan would be here, she wouldn’t have brought Rosalie along. “Why are we so lucky?”

Lillian chided herself, then hurriedly followed Rosalie into the hall.

Inside, there was only one statue, radiating an aura of compassion for all living beings.

Rosalie was not religious, but at that moment, she folded her hands in front of the statue, closed her eyes, and

prayed respectfully.

She wondered if she could be granted the grace to let go of her feelings for Jonathan and restore the peace in her

heart that had once been so deeply in love.

It seemed that sometimes, not loving was a blessing in disguise.

Jonathan settled into the car seat at the base of the mountain, leaning back and closing his eyes to rest.

In the front row, Carlos glanced at Jonathan through the rearview mirror with trepidation.

Jonathan’s reaction to seeing Rosalie earlier had been indifferent, as if he didn’t care about her at all.

At least, that was the impression he gave.

But was it really the truth? Carlos had his doubts. He had watched their relationship develop since they first met,

and he knew how much Rosalie had once meant to Jonathan.

He feared that Jonathan would have willingly complied even if Rosalie had asked him to give up his life for her.

Carlos wondered, ‘How can Mr. Youngblood stop loving a woman he cared for so much in such a short time?

Sometimes, the more Mr. Youngblood seems to ignore her, the more it is a sign that he still cares for her.’

“By the way, is the party Alan mentioned last time going to be held today?” Jonathan asked, though his eyes

remained closed.

Carlos, taken aback by the question, replied, “Yes, it’s today! It’s at Siren Nightclub.”

Siren Nightclub was a nightclub known for its bevy of beautiful women. Some worked there out of necessity, while

others frequented the place to attract wealthy suitors. After all, Strico was home to many affluent young men who

enjoyed hosting parties and seeking excitement at such establishments.

“I’m going there tonight,” Jonathan declared faintly.

Carlos was left stunned, thinking, ‘Mr. Youngblood is not one to frequent places like nightclubs, so why the sudden

change?

Could it be that he’s been triggered by Ms. Leighton?”

Carlos had numerous speculations in his mind but didn’t dare to say much, so he went along with Jonathan’s

request.

Carlos expected a lively night at Siren Nightclub, with women vying for Jonathan’s attention.

Meanwhile, after receiving a call from the police, Rosalie headed to the police station. To her surprise, Calvin and

Fiona were also there.

Fiona approached Rosalie as soon as she spotted her and said, “Rosalie, you’re here. Are you also here to hear the

police’s final findings regarding the lounge investigation?”

“Yes,” Rosalie replied, casting a questioning look at Fiona. “Why are you here?

“I-I’m here to listen as well,” Fiona admitted, forcing a smile. “After all, you were dragged into this because of me.

The perpetrator wanted to frame me. I was supposed to go to the lounge later, but who would have thought you

would be there?”

Rosalie raised her eyebrows slightly and asked, “Dragged into?”

Fiona’s expression turned guilty. “Yes, you were dragged into this because of me. Rosalie, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry

that you got involved in this. I asked Calvin to bring me here as soon as I heard the investigation results were out.”

!

Fiona had been looking for Calvin earlier and wanted to ask him about the case. Instead, she got a call from the

police.

So, she hurried over as if genuinely concerned about Rosalie.
