Chapter 566
She was indeed as described by Lillian. Not only was she not planning to give him 1 million dollars, but she also only
wanted Callum to drive away the woman in front of her.
However, she didn’t expect him to be so careful that he ended up seeing through her intentions.
At that moment, Lillian’s phone rang. She took out her phone and saw that it was a call from Callum, so she
answered it.
“Where are you?” Callum’s gentle voice came from the phone.
“I’m negotiating with the lady of the Fairmount Properties, the marriage partner that the White family has prepared
for you,” Lillian said.
“Negotiating?” Callum suddenly became nervous when he heard that. “Did that woman come to you? Did she do
anything to you?”
“She said she would pay me a huge sum to get me to leave you, but she wasn’t planning on paying at all,” Lillian
replied.
Josephine, who was standing beside her, had her dolled-up face twisted when she heard that. “Lillian isn’t playing by
the rules at all! I’ll only embarrass myself further if I stick around any longer!” she thought to herself as she stood
up angrily and shot Lillian a warning glare before storming off in silence.
Lillian was still on the phone at the time. When she saw Josephine leave, she immediately called out to her, “Don’t
forget to pay for the coffee!”
Josephine staggered upon hearing that and took a moment to steady herself. She then continued to walk toward
the cashier not far away.
Callum, who was on the other end of the phone, asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Ms. Tall is leaving now, that’s all. I reminded her to pay the bill. After all, she promised that it would be her

Hearing this, Callum couldn’t help but smile. It seemed that Lillian would never disappoint him
At the beginning of this call, he was worried that Lillian would misunderstand something. But now, it sounded like
nothing serious happened.
“So, should I come pick you up now?” he asked.
“I have to go Rosalie’s later. I’ll come see you when I’m free,” Lillian replied, making it clear that friendship came
first for her.
As such, Callum had no choice but to put up with it. Fortunately, Rosalie was the only one among Lillian’s friends
who received such treatment. Callum would probably feel a lot more upset if there were others.
When Lillian came to Rosalie’s rental home, she saw that Rosalie was having dinner. “Perfect timing! I’ve brought
you some food,” she said.
After saying that, she put the roast duck she bought on the table and asked, “Do you have any more food? If yes,
share some
with me.”
“You haven’t eaten yet?” Rosalie asked. After all, it was a little late for her to be having dinner. She didn’t expect
Lillian to have hers even later.
“I could have come over sooner, but I got held up by something,” Lillian said as she took the food over from Rosalie
and started eating.
Originally, Rosalie only cooked a bowl of scrambled egg with tomato soup. With the addition of Lillian’s roast duck,
however, the meal became a lot fancier.
While they were having dinner together, Lillian asked, “Where did Jonathan take you? Do you know that I’m really
worried about you these days?” It was inconvenient for her to ask about certain things over the phone yesterday,
so she decided to ask Rosalie directly over dinner instead.
Making no attempt to hide anything, Rosalie told Lillian about the and

asked cautiously.
“So, Jonathan just kept you there? He didn’t do anything bad to you, did he?” Lillian 0
“No, he didn’t,” Rosalie replied.
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief. “Then he is still a gentleman.”
Immediately, as if she had thought of something else, Lillian continued, “By the way, you mentioned yesterday that
you no longer have anything to do with Jonathan. What happened between you two?”
“It is as I said, the two of us will go our separate ways from now on. Now even our game of make-believe family is
over. He and I are really just strangers now,” Rosalie replied calmly, but her calmness made Lillian a little worried.
Although Lillian didn’t like Jonathan in her heart and felt that Jonathan had hurt Rosalie too deeply, she still felt a

saddened when she heard that the two had become strangers.
At first, Lillian felt that maybe Jonathan and Rosalie still had a chance.
“Jonathan is not the only man in this world. You will always meet a better one,” Lillian said in an attempt to cheer
Rosalie up.
Rosalie smiled faintly and didn’t refute the kindness of her friend. She knew that Lillian was worried about her
future, fearing that she would really end up dying alone.
But even if she died alone, it was not all that bad. After all, it would be better to be alone without being bothered by

Without love, they would neither be hurt nor feel pain.
“By the way, what happened between you and Calvin?” Lillian asked when she thought about that, especially since
she saw Calvin still trying to find Rosalie after his hand was broken. Lillian felt that Rosalie most likely held an
extraordinary position in Calvin’s heart.
Rosalie didn’t hide anything and told Lillian about the relationship between Calvin and her.
Lillian was the last person in this world she would hide anything from. In fact, she would even place her life in
Lillian’s hands if the situation called for it.
Lillian was stunned after hearing that. “In other words, Fiona, who has been on the trending page several times
before, is actually just a substitute for Calvin?”
“You could say that. I didn’t expect that Fiona would become a substitute. However, Jonathan and I were together at
that time. I didn’t want to get entangled with Calvin, so we stopped talking any further,” Rosalie said.
“You are not with Jonathan anymore, are you? Why don’t you tell him now, then?” Lillian was confused.
Rosalie smiled bitterly as she replied, “Probably because I don’t want to owe Calvin any more favors, I guess.”
Calvin and she had both saved each other’s lives once, so they were even in that aspect.
The debt of love, however, was the most difficult to pay off.
Calvin would probably find it harder to let her go if she told him that she was the one who saved him when they
were little.
Instead of telling him the truth, she figured it would be better to carry on like this. Maybe his feelings would
naturally fade away if he couldn’t get her response after a few days.
Lillian looked at Rosalie, but she couldn’t give the latter any advice. After all, a bystander like her couldn’t possibly
interfere in their relationship.
“Fiona sure is a lucky one, though. She hasn’t done anything, and yet, she gets to live a prosperous and wealthy
life!”
