After dinner, Sheryl and Lisbeth headed to the garden to indulge in a spa session, while Beverley and Aurelia took a stroll by the lakeside.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBeverley whispered, "Aurelia, don't you find the whole situation with Elfreda a bit odd? Why would Lisbeth choose to send her to a sanatorium far away instead of one in Goldendell? Does she plan to trek miles every tjust to visit her? I'm seriously suspecting it's Lisbeth's doing. She probably wants to get rid of Elfreda and send her off to sdistant place. And Raines, that guy's just too gullible, goes along with whatever she says." Aurelia lowered her voice, "I have something to tell you, but you have to swear you won't breathe a word of it to anyone." Beverley quickly raised her hand in an oath, "lI swear | won't spill a bean, or may | tumble into the lake and turn into a turtle." Aurelia spoke in a hushed tone, "Jessica had sympathy for Elfreda and wanted her to rejoin to the Stirling family. She had Leopold send people to Goldendell to bring Elfreda back and surprise Raines. But, Elfreda disappeared. They couldn't find her in any sanatorium in Goldendell or the neighboring towns. She never checked into any of them." "What?" Beverley gasped, a spasm of shock running through her, "Then why did Lisbeth say Elfreda was sent to a distant sanatorium? Could something have happened to her?" Aurelia said, "It's all very strange. Haven't you noticed how odd both Raines and Lisbeth have been acting? Raines has completely changed, and even if he gets seriously ill, his whole personality won't just switch." Beverley shuddered, "You're suggesting that the person who cback isn't Raines at all, but an imposter?" "I don't know for sure. | just have my suspicions," Aurelia shrugged, "Let's keep this between us. If I'm wrong, it would be too embarrassing." "I get it," Beverley nodded rapidly, "Raines has indeed changed a lot. He used to be such a foodie, especially fond of flavorful things. Now he seems to have lost interest in food. This is no small matter, and we need to get to the bottom of this. If he's an imposter, it could mean that Raines and Elfreda are in a perilous situation." "To impersonate someone, there are only two ways. Use high-tech prosthetics or undergo plastic surgery," Aurelia mused, "Maybe we can find a way to test if he's wearing a mask." "Right," Beverley agreed, "If this Raines is a fraud, then Lisbeth must be in on it. No wonder my tarot readings have been so ominous." "Let's just be cautious from now on and keep an eye on them," Aurelia advised.
"Got it," Beverley nodded.
Later that night, after returning home, Aurelia shared the news about Elfreda with Leopold.
"Lisbeth says they've placed Elfreda in a sanatorium far away, which is definitely a lie. Why send her away when she was perfectly fine here? Even Beverley finds it strange." Leopold's eyes darkened as he said, "Even though we can’t find Elfreda, we can still do a DNA test. Compare it with Skyler's. If Raines has truly been replaced by Geoffrey, and assuming they're identical twins, their DNA profiles should bear a striking resemblance." The staff at Rosette Garden Estates were under his employ. Snatching a sample of Raines' DNA wouldn't be hard.

"If this Raines turns out to be a fake, really is Geoffrey, then we've removed the last thorn, eliminated the biggest threat." Leopold nodded slightly, his only worry was for Raines, fearing he might have cto harm.
He never anticipated that their enemy would target Raines who resided overseas.
They were too tricky!
