[Level: 24]
Leon took a peek at his level on his status page for a moment. He had gained nine levels in a short amount of time, which was a good thing, but now, he wanted more. Surely, there must be a threshold where his power would rise and multiply exponentially, and he was eager to get to that point.
Dismissing the status window, Leon turned his gaze to the four member group fight that was happening only a few meters away from him. The millipedes and centipedes were tearing into each other, so they were not able to spare enough attention to their surroundings. That was the reason why he had been able to sneak up so close to them without them noticing his presence.
As he fought, Leon had learned to refine his movements even more, and his agility and dexterity had also been on a constant rise. His improved stats allowed him to behave more competitively, and gave him more advantages against lone enemies. It also made sure he did not fall behind when facing multiple enemies.
A black shadow dashed out from behind a half crumbled wall. Leon rushed up to the first millipede, and plunged his sword into an injury on its carapace that exposed its tender insides.

Before any of the others could react, Leon pulled out his sword and flashed it about several times. The limbs and heads of a couple more creatures fell to the ground, spilling blood, and leaving only a single centipede alive. Leon quickly put that one down as well, ending all the members of that group fight.

A black light flashed within Leon's eyes as he quickly made his way to another group and ended their lives. He gained an additional two levels for killing them, as all their levels were close to the level ten threshold.
"All the creatures from here on out should be stronger than the others. I'm sure I should be able to gain two to three levels with each group I wipe out." Leon thought to himself as he observed the overall situation of the battle. It would be terrible if he ended up engaging a group in a fight, only for both sides to withdraw and notice that a third party had been slaughtering their soldiers.
Leon continued killing the creatures for a few more minutes, and by the time the fight began to die down, he had wiped out three more groups of arthropods. Upon seeing that the forces of the two different creature species were pulling back, Leon also turned around and fled the site of the battle, returning to the safety of the cathedral that was at the center of the desolate town.
"I made quite a good haul this time." He smiled to himself and called up his status, "Status."

Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmA bubble of joy swelled within Leon's empty chest cavity as he counted the gains that he had reaped just within an hour today. He had killed dozens of millipedes and centipedes, and he was sure that it would take a while before the creatures managed to raise other soldiers that were the same level as the stronger ones that had died in battle. Thanks to this, he was sure that he would be able to get some more easy kills as long as he was careful.
"This skill..." Leon leaned forward as his vision zeroed in on the Weapon Mastery skill that he had gained and leveled up as he fought. He had gained a sudden moment of inspiration and thought that there might be more to this skill than what he had initially thought.
For example, should the skill not have been named as Sword Mastery, as he had used only a sword ever since he came to this world. From what he believed, the skill might have the ability to grant him a certain level of competence when wielding any weapon in battle.
Standing up from his perch on the floor, Leon made his way over to one of the discarded spears that lay on the floor of the cathedral. He picked it up and held it up like what he had seen in some mangas. He stood like that for a few moments, but nothing ever changed. He did not suddenly learn the basics of spear fighting, nor gain a sudden insight on how to be a spear master.
"Will I get better at it by swinging the spear around, or do I need to use it in a fight first?" Leon wondered.
A few minutes passed as Leon swung the spear around in wide arcs and stabbed it forward while imagining that he was stabbing the one of those larger millipedes in their eyes to kill them. Even though he tried his best to use the spear, he never got the notification that he was hoping for.
"Ha~ This is hopeless." After twenty minutes of trying the same thing, Leon finally discarded the spear to the side and picked up his sword to continue hunting the millipedes.
Leon left the cathedral and began carefully exploring the town. This time, thanks to his confidence, he chose to explore a bit farther away from the cathedral, but in a different direction from where the battle had occurred earlier.
From what he guessed, the stronger creatures would probably be feasting on the dead carcasses of those that had failed to survive the battle. It would be best if he steered clear of that area entirely.
Before long, Leon came upon a group of millipedes that were feasting on the carcass of a millipede that Leon had killed some time before. The fact that they were here meant that they were surely on the weaker end of the scale when it came to their millipede hierarchy, so Leon did not feel any pressure about facing the four of them on his own.
"Alright, here we go again." He gripped the hilt of his sword tighter and dashed forward to meet the many legged foe in combat.
